I turned on "Windows Spotlight" in my Lockscreen settings (Personalization) for a while but then wanted to go back to selecting my own background image. I can select an image, but a few hours or a day later the windows spotlight images come back again. The selection in Lockscreen still says "Image", but the image has changed to a lockscreen one. If I again select my image, it only holds for a while, then reverts to a spotlight image.
If I could find the Windows Spotlight service or exe or task I would disable/delete it, but I can't find it.
I got a new laptop and installed the Facebook app from the Windows Store and it asked me if i wanted to sync my Facebook profile picture and cover photo as the user photo and lock screen picture. I didn't mean to click yes as my cover photo at the time was a stupid one. I've tried uninstalling the Facebook app to make the lock screen picture go away and used the control panel to manually change back to Windows Spotlight. But it still does not change. Whenever i restart my laptop the stupid picture of Ainsley Harriot comes up before the logon screen, but when i lock my laptop it shows the Spotlight. It's weird. I'm new to Windows 10 so i'm unsure what the issue is here.
I am currently up to date with all updates for my legal copy of windows 10 pro, I have choosen the windows spotlight feature for my lock screen, however it never activates, I still just get the microsoft glowing blue window screen, any thoughts?
also right below the options for lock screen are options to choose apps for detailed status and apps for quick status, I have also never seen these work anywhere
Windows spotlight under the lock screen settings set a picture for me that I'd like to make permanent. Unfortunately it will change when the new windows spotlight picture is sent out. What is the save location of this image file so I can set it as my permanent lock screen picture?
I like the Windows 10 "Spotlight" with its custom photos each day. They really do a great job selecting beautiful photos. However, I've noticed random Store ads popping up, saying things like, "See what's free" or "Explore a marketplace of apps..."
I'd love to disable these ads, while keeping the Spotlight feature of daily photos.
I have already adjusted privacy settings like turning off "Let apps use my advertising ID" and many other Privacy settings. It doesn't seem to affect those lock screen ads. How those can be disabled?
Note I am NOT asking to disable the lock screen (I know already there are ways to do this). I'm asking if there is a way to disable the little text ads that appear on top of the Spotlight images.
Any way to force Windows Spotlight to use a random image on each startup, as opposed to the default beach cave? I understand from other posts that since the user hasn't yet signed in at that point, it seems to default to that picture. However, using other 3rd party Win10 apps such as [Chameleon][URL] .... and other lock screen changers, I can confirm that they are able to change the lock screen picture on each startup (by doing it in the background while I'm using my pc, and then saving the changes I would assume).
I would assume the "slideshow" lock screen option works in a similar manner. Why is Windows Spotlight unable to do this out of the box, considering if I choose to lock my pc Windows Spotlight shows a new image most of the time. However, at each startup it reverts to the beach photo. I rarely lock my pc, so it seems like a waste.
Is there some setting, Windows app, or registry hack I can use to get the functionality I am describing? I was thinking Windows would store all the Spotlight photos it downloads in a folder somewhere, so I could choose a lock screen "slideshow" of that hidden folder, but it seems there are logos and other files in that folder as well.
The Cortana button shows up on the task bar, but when I click on it to access the "Run" feature (Which should have stayed in the Start Menu), nothing happens. The window doesn't open anymore. This just started happening a few weeks ago.
Also, I cannot add new desktop wallpapers. I'm stuck with the current one, and if I try to add a new one, my desktop turns black.
So I only recently upgraded to Windows 10, and I'm a bit of a wallpaper nut, so I immediately noticed that my wallpapers have been simply scrolling through the images set in my folder, instead of shuffling through them. I know Windows 7 had the ability to shuffle the images, did they take that away? Is there any way to get them to shuffle?
I really like the current lock screen wallpaper (the one you see before you click and the password screen shows up) and I want to set it as my desktop wallpaper, but I can't find it! Where is it located?
When I set my pc to show a slideshow on the lock screen after a few minutes of inactivity, it shows only one default picture instead of the pictures in the folder it is configured to use. If I look in the settings, there is some red text that says "You need more than one picture to show in your slideshow", even though there are eight pictures in the selected folder.
The "only show pictures that fit my screen" and "include camera roll folders" settings are off, and "when pc is inactive, show lock screen instead of turning off the screen" is on. I have DisplayFusion installed, but it is not set to control the screensaver.
I pretty much have resolved all my niggling little issues with Windows 10.....I however can not seem to get the clock on the lockscreen to show as 24 hour clock. I have it set to 24 hour clock everywhere else but the lockscreen. In fact even in the preview for the lockscreen settings it shows it in 24 hour mode, but in reality when the lockscreen comes up it still shows the time in 12 hour clock. So am I missing something somewhere? If it shows on the preview as 24 hour clock, this leads me to believe that this capability does exist. No?
How do you set rotating wallpapers in the latest windows 10? It's only letting me choose 1 now. The only way I am finding is to download a theme and I don't want a downloaded theme. I wanted wallpapers that I created
I'm a bit confused about the terminology of background pictures, themes and Spotlight picture. When the computer hasn't been used for a specified time, my screen savers start. If I go back to the computer and move the mouse my screensaver goes away and another Windows picture fills up the desktop. I believe this is called the Spotlight but I could be wrong.
This Windows picture used to change. Since I did a clean install of Windows 10 this picture does not change. How do I get it to change? I used to see several different pictures in random order.
Windows Spotlight isn't working right on my W10 home PC. The image just never cycles. Currently I have a nice image of a light bulb, but it's supposed to cycle to new pictures. On my Surface 3, I actually see new images all the time.
I'm on build 10586.104 (version 1511). I just enrolled in the insider preview ring, but no updates from that yet.
I have some problems with Windows Spotlight feature. Everytime I select this as my lock screen, it seems loading, but ends showing the Windows 10 default lock screen picture. I tried to restart, update, did a clean installation of this Windows build, but nothing solves it.
On my Surface 3 I've been getting really stunning lock screen photos as part of Windows Spotlight. Much nicer than anything from the Bing photos. I wanted to add that to my desktop but I don't seem to get that choice there in lockscreen settings. Is there a trick to enabling this or it is a Surface 3 feature?
It seems like my Lock Screen wallpaper is stuck on "Windows Spotlight". When I try to change to "Picture" or "Slideshow" in settings nothing happens, and when i choose "Slideshow" and then "Windows Spotlight" the preview turns grey with the loading indicator and nothing more happens.
Would really like to be able to choose my own lock screen wallpaper, though Spotlight is a pretty cool feature.
I cannot find my taskbar (it's not hidden, no) and the back button doesn't do anything. I've restarted my computer. All the windows I've opened since this happened (last night) cannot be made any smaller, they're all maxed out across my screen and can only be minimized into nothing.
I don't recall doing anything, I just closed my laptop to do something for a bit and when I opened it, it was like this. I also could not use my keyboard at all, until I restarted.
re customizing windows desktop themes no options showing
I go to personalization and see the choice of themes but cant see the small pane at the bottom of the screen which gives options for delay between images fit etc etc..
I've got a Lenovo Desktop that was upgraded from 8.1 to 10 just after the release. I have a Toshiba Laptop which I upgraded from 7 to 10 about a month ago. Occasionally, the desktop screen for the desktop would be the default desktop image for the Toshiba laptop with "Toshiba" in the lower right corner.
Last night I performed a clean install of 10 on my Laptop. I went to bed and let the laptop work the updates as I was sleeping. When I woke up the Lenovo, again, the desktop showed the Toshiba default image rather than the one I had changed it to previously.
I had researched the issue but only after making this post is when I realized that all accounts under the same Microsoft ID will sync, including the desktop personalization. Not exactly a feature that I like. I'd like to turn that feature off.
