Would it be possible to get copies of the cool icons you use on your Windows TenForums tutorial pages? Example: the disk drive with the reverse circle for system restore.

View 9 RepliesSo as many people may agree, the icons in Windows 10 look absolutely hideous.I have found an Icon pack I would like to use & I have successfully changed Icons such as Recycle Bin, My PC, My Network but when it comes to the Documents, Movies, Pictures, Download folders they simply won't change.
Is there something that needs to be done in addition other than right clicking the folder I wish to change - customise - choose file 'select icon'

Right so, I have been trying to create application shortcuts in the "all apps" of the start menu. I've had success with some shortcuts. Here is a screenshot, with an example of what I am talking.The following shortcuts are behaving as I want them to,The following shortcut is not behaving as I want it to.. it keeps pinning to start despite all my attempts to unpin it and recopy to the folder,they are all shortcuts to executable files. Why is windows handling some of them differently?
Whenever I try to move, delete or rename a shortcut in ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms or its subfolders, appears this window (but the shortcut is moved, deleted or renamed without problems):

I read many people complain about the Start Menu on Windows 10, specifically about not being able to modify it like they could in Windows 7.
You actually can modify it, pretty easily. Simply open This PC, then click in the address bar and type "start menu". You can then go into Programs and create new folders, shortcuts, etc. And any shortcuts you create can be also pinned as a tile from the All Apps section. And you can have Cortana launch them too.
When I Installed Win 10, if I wanted to quickly access one of those 6 Win 10 PC 'Folders' (Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Videos), I would just had to type in the folder in the start menu search box, press Enter and it would access the folder.As soon as I changed the folders' original location, this 'typing shortcut' did not work anymore.is it even possible to make typing shortcuts to folders or files in the search box? (i.e typing "x" for a specific folder named "y")
View 9 Repliesfor some reason all my Icons for everything but folders have gone blank I can't seem to get them back. As well as all my file and program associations have eather reset and ask me what programs I want to use a default and when I reassign them the next time I go to open a file of the same type the association seems to dissapear again and ask what progam I want to use again... This seemed to happen after Windows 10 auto updated last...
See pic below of my desktop (note the Virtual DJ icon I just istalled that not 10 mins ago and it is blank as well) and windows explorer with blank 'page' icons but if I use the Open file dialouge page in Firefox or Chrome the icons show up....
Noticed that their shortcuts on the desktop gets rearanched from time to time for no apperant reason? When I had last shutdown, I had a shortcut to Firefox and Excel located just below the "Recycle Bin" which is the second icon down on the left hand side of the screen below the icon for "My Computer".
When I next turned on my computer the shortcut icons had changed order with the shortcut to Excel at the top, followed by "My Computer", Firefox and "Recycle Bin".
Is there a setting in the registry somewhere that preserves the order of the icons?
Since the last win 10 update, my desktop Folder icons do not work right. When I left click I get this

The only way I can open a folder (such as Downloads) is to right click, then select open.
I have tried creating new shortcuts and they do not work. Regular program shortcuts work fine. If I create a new short cut to a file, (ie a photo), I have to right click and select OPEN to view the file, then when I create a shortcut, it does not work unless I right click and select open.
I restored system to earlier date and all is well. When restarting computer I get force fed update. Selecting NEW from context menu was not there. I fixed that. Why come I get cmd when I try to open a folder?
Just upgraded to windows 10 and on 7 I was using Ultramon, a super awesome multi-monitor program. Needless to say, ultramon doesn't work on 10 but 10 has some pretty great multi-monitor functionality already.
I've got two monitors and I have taskbar shown on both and buttons are set to show on taskbar where the window is open. What I'm trying to do is hide the Start Menu, Cortana search, and task view buttons on the non-primary monitor taskbar.
Also, I'm wondering if it's possible to change the Windows keyboard shortcuts? Trying to change the shortcut for switching between desktops to something other than Ctrl + Win + (Left/Right)
when i open "My PC" or any folder in my desktop windows 10 remembers if i resize it, but always randomize the position a bit lower.

However since the last update whenever I either copy or move a file into any folder windows puts that folder under the Recent group in the taskbar.
Shortcuts used to be indicated by a fairly unobtrusive arrow in the corner. A few days ago they changed to an overly visible white arrow in a green circle in the lower middle of the program icon. Then they changed to a gray X in the corner. Now they're back to the arrow in the green circle.

View 9 RepliesEach and every time I boot up 2 of my computers, the desktop icon font color is black. I have to manually change them to white. I have tried looking on Google, tried resolving the problem myself to no avail. So,

So I've got some pinned icons on my Win 10 taskbar, such as Chrome, Notepad++, file explorer etc.
I go to change the Chrome icon and it doesn't change on the taskbar like it did with W7. But sometime later, unsure when, could have been after a restart or after waking up from sleep or just a time period later, it finally changed to the icon that I'd chosen.
I did this to file explorer as well and some time later it finally changed to the icon that I've chosen for it.
1. Why is there this delay?
2. What if anything can I do to avoid the delay and get the icons to change immediately as they did with Windows 7?
I have Windows 10 since launch and I have all updated installed. I have my recycle bin in bottom right hand corner but if I restart the PC or refresh the desktop, it will go to the left side. This didnt happen in Win 7 and at some point in Win 10 I was able to move them anywhere without it resetting the positions.So what do I need to change for it not lose the positions?

View 1 RepliesI have just plugged in a second monitor to my PC, the resolution of both monitors are as recommended (1) is 1366 x 768 and the other (2) which is the main display is 1920 x 1080 - I would like to increase the size of the font, task bar icons etc on my main display (2) but when I go to the "advanced sizing of text and other items" and then to the "Change only the text size" I cannot select specific items as this part is grayed out and I cant click on it. Could it be because I am trying to change something on the (2) monitor (even though it is ticked as my main display)?

View 7 RepliesSome of my program shortcuts have changed to white file icon pictures. the shortcut still works just fine but they just missing the icon... when i load a new icon in the place of the old one i get a little shield on half the icon... Ive had this problem before with one shortcut but now it some how fixed it self.

After upgrading from windows 7, some of my desktop shortcuts have this shield icon graffiti sullying their lovely visages. Can I remove these somehow?
My lock screen it always changing or making its own picture. Even though I set it with the picture I like.
View 1 RepliesIt seems the default font on this WIndows is Arial and it's really ugly, especially when reading an entire page in Chrome or in any other browser. Tried to change the font in all browsers- no result. It can change only the size- Arial still there. It bugs me that it's everywhere, even in games. This compact font in games is really annoying and made me quite after playing a few minutes. I have no problems with overlapping or unreadable font problems I've read on this forum.
View 2 RepliesI don't like needless screen animation, so I find the Win10 "Busy" indication very irritating. Is there some way to replace it? On Win7 I've got the old hourglass, but I'd be willing to accept the not quite so old spinning colored circle if the hourglass is no longer available.
