View 9 RepliesHow do I change the desktop background slideshow? Or where is the theme pictures settings located? On windows 7 they were on the same page, not so in win 10, they seem to be hidden...
View 3 RepliesI upgraded to 10 from 8.1. In 8.1 I had a slide show desktop background. That carried forward into 10 ( I still have the slideshow background). However, I cannot find where the images are located on the computer. Would like to modify but need to know where they are.
View 1 RepliesHeretofore on Windows 7, I was able to enjoy random slide show of all my pictures as background. Now, when I go to control panel personalization I'm asked for a picture 'album', which limits the variety of background pictures. Is there any way to set my controls to get the slide show of 'all' my pics?
View 8 RepliesI have set up my background to display slideshow. There appears to be no save button on this page. Every time I reboot the computer I find the slideshow has been changed back to "picture" mode.
View 9 RepliesWhen I go into Settings and set the Background picture/slideshow, I always see letters on the sample screen, like 'Aa' and 'Sample Text'. What can you do with that? I don't find any explanations anywhere.
View 5 RepliesWhy the Windows 10 picture album I set as my background slideshow disappears when I shut down my computer, and I have to reload it every time I turn the machine on and sign in? Is this yet another glitch in the "wonderful" Windows 10?
View 2 RepliesOddly enough it seemed to work before with the default picture set, but when I tried to set it to a folder in my OneDrive it doesn't switch over, and not even any other folder works. Slideshow lists two folders (pictures, OneDrive desktop) but they are both greyed out and unclickable.
View 3 RepliesI find that the personalization settings have changed. I boot to a new background but then it stays fixed on the new picture. In the Personalisation settings. 'Slideshow' changes itself to 'Picture'. I set it to use the slideshow when on batteries, but that switch turns off, too.
View 2 RepliesJust installed 10240 or TH1 and I am still unable to specify a network location for the background pics. If this is a bug, I can't believe they haven't fixed it.
View 3 RepliesToday when i booted up i noticed ive no desktop background, i can cycle through backgrounds and i can see borders changing color but my desktop stays black, ran sfc /scannow which it found/fixed errors but nothing to do with my issue, rebooted, ran ccleaner, still broken....
View 3 RepliesI am using Win X Pro. I just noticed that I could not change the desktop background. It says "Some settings are managed by your organisation". I am the only one using this PC and there is no other account. I can change the colours, lock screen and themes.
View 4 RepliesI've gone into the personalizaion menu and clicked the background tab, selected slideshow, selected my folder, chose how often i want the pictures to change and chose my fit and no picture pops up in the background. I've restarted my laptop and still nothing seems to work.
View 2 RepliesThis is complicated.
My colleague has pranked me at work, by somehow fixing my desktop background so that I can't change it.
I'm running W10 32bit home edition.
I've tried gpedit.msc - not available on home version.
I've managed to change it to a solid colour, but i can't change the picture.
I recently did a clean install of Windows 10 which seemed to go well, but for some reason I am unable to change my desktop background, though the normal Personalization options. I can, however, go to the "Solid" option and change it to a different color. Also, if I download a wallpaper it only gives me the option to set it as the lock screen, and not the desktop.
A little background: This is the second PC that I've installed Win 10 on. The first was a newer laptop and I just went with the express upgrade from 8.1 and had no problems. The other laptop (the one I'm asking about) is a little older and I decided to do a clean install from Win 7 using the Windows 10 Media option downloaded to a USB drive. Also, when comparing the two desktops I notice that this second laptop has "WIndows 10 Home" displayed in the lower left hand corner of the desktop (as if it's a different version of Window 10, but when I went to the Win 10 update it says that No updates are required). After thinking that maybe the OS didn't install correctly the first time I went to Recovery and decided to Reset my computer, but that didn't change anything.
After researching this issue, the first thing I checked was the "Ease of Access" Remove Background Images was unchecked. Beyond that, I can't seem to find anything on the web that seems to address this.
FYI, basic system specs:
Sager Laptop (don't recall exact model)
CPU: i7-2760QM
GPU: Nvidea GTX 560M SLI
RAM: 8GB
After I installed Windows 10 the same desktop background became visibly less clear. How to resolve this problem.
View 4 RepliesIn W-7, I could go to the "Change the visuals and sounds on your computer" and click the "Desktop Background" Slide Show. once there, I could check or uncheck the pictures I wanted.
In W-10, when I click "Desktop Background", I get the "Background" "Preview" window. There's no handy access to the pictures in the selected screen.
The "Chose albums.....", DesktopBackground", Browse would probably get me to where the actual pictures are if I knew where they are.
It use to be very simple.
Have upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7. Set a desktop background as part of initial setup. Picked a photo of my daughter and used the fill option to display the image correctly on the screen. Every day, the background image gets set to a stretched version of the image(that doesnt actually exist anywhere) and I have to reset to the correct image file and set back to fill.
View 7 RepliesI can't find the lower panel in the Personalization view. The one where I can select or deselect pictures in a saved theme. I see it on my work desktop running Pro but not on a Home machine.
View 1 RepliesIn Windows 10, in Personalization > Background, I have red text that says, Some settings are managed by your organization, and all desktop background features are greyed out and inaccessible. What does this mean and how do I get the desktop background function back?
Please note: All other Personalization options are accessible, including: Colors, Lock screen, Themes (although they do not work once I go into them), and Start.
All I have for a desktop background, is the last wallpaper I used, which is now permanently locked as my desktop background.
I would like to select which pictures from a theme I would like to use for my background. To be more specific, I want to disable a few pictures. This used to be possible in Win 7/Win 8.1 by going to the Theme settings (in win 10: Personalize/Themes/Theme Settings), and clicking an icon called Desktop Background on the bottom of the page.
View 3 RepliesI made a desktop background in 3ds max and its of a robot standing on the moon. The actual image I is about 10k by 6k so I converted it to 1080p because I was having the same problem with the larger image. When I set it as my desktop background it becomes blurry. The stars bleed out whiteness around into the black space. The textures and reflections just look like crap on the desktop image. But on the real image you can zoom in for miles and it is just fine. Why my desktop background looks worse quality than say an image viewer?
View 2 RepliesI have a background slideshow in operation, inherited from Windows 7 when I changed to Windows 10. I know how to personalise the background, but the slideshow does not work when I select a folder other than the one I inherited, even when there are suitable background pictures in the folder. Obviously, I could just put pictures for my background into the one folder which does work, but I would like to be able to select any picture folder, as should work.
View 7 RepliesIs there a way I can get it so my Windows background doesn't change every day or other time? I can only select 1 day for each time the slide changes at the very most. What I want is so when I right click and click "Next Desktop Background" (or whatever) it then and only then changes.
View 1 RepliesNavigating to Settings > Personalization > Themes > Theme Settings, we get to the Personalization window for Themes same as on Win 7. In the window it states "Click a theme to change the desktop background, color, and sounds all at once."
However, the icons normally at the bottom of the window to change those settings are missing. All I can do is save the theme (right click).
(window capture missing icons)
(these are the icons I'd expect to see)
I've been trying to make my desktop background be a slideshow of images rather than just 1 image. I want the images to change frequently, so I have it set to change every 1 minute.
However, after setting up the slideshow last night, the same image has remained my background for several hours, not changing once. I've double-checked the folder that is linked for the slideshow, and it does contain more than one image - in fact it contains 18 images.
I've attached a screenshot of the Background Settings screen. How can I get the slideshow to cycle through the images?
