How many images are selected and what determines the selection?Can I select which folders, Photos live tile chooses from? I moved all of the images out of the default Pictures folder to the desktop and Photo Live Tile is still cycling the same images.

Yeah, I know, most people want to go back to the old start up menu. I liked the tiles view on my old Windows phone. I want to have the tiles I have selected and arranged to be the desktop view, not a blank photo image where then I have to add another step to select something.
So far any searches for keep tiles as start up returns info for Windows 8. I have Windows 10, native install on a Nextbook Flexx 10.
I've got a slideshow of images set as my desktop background, and under the Personalization settings for Colors I have the three settings "Automatically pick an accent color", "Show color on Start, taskbar, and action center" and "Make start, taskbar, and action center" all switched to On.
The problem is the accent color selection does not automatically refresh when the slideshow rolls to the next image. I have to either send the computer to sleep and wake it up, or toggle the "Automatically pick an accent color" slider in order to get it to refresh. Needless to say this is pretty impractical and I end up just sitting through the whole day with an accent color that only matches the first image of the slideshow.
It looks like the super-thin window border telling you which window has focus is still updating color correctly, but nothing else, anywhere, does at all.
how to change the desktop background (which is curiously located in a completely different menu outside of the control panel!) and tried to choose a local folder with pictures in it, Windows somehow thinks the folder is empty.
Now, when I go to that folder in Explorer, it's full of pictures. They are all jpgs and are the same pictures that populate my synced theme, just more of them than are allowed to fit in a synced theme. I can't understand why this folder is coming up empty when choosing a slideshow when it has tons of pictures.
I upgraded to 10 from 8.1. In 8.1 I had a slide show desktop background. That carried forward into 10 ( I still have the slideshow background). However, I cannot find where the images are located on the computer. Would like to modify but need to know where they are.
View 1 RepliesWhen making a slideshow in Windows 10 for the lock screen and the desktop background can you select individual images from folders instead of selecting an entire folder? Win 7 could do this and i used it and liked it a lot.
It's not a huge deal but i didn't want to make copies of the images to put in a "slideshow" folder and also leave them organized in their original folder so i can actually track them down later.
I would like to find out how I can customize the actual images(icons) displayed in the system tray.

Icons I want to change include BitDefender, Chrome, and OpenVPN to make them better fit the new Windows 10 icon theme. The white icon in the top right corner is one that I was successfully able to change. The program is Vuze Bittorrent client --> The Vuse wiki actually tells the location of the .png image file --> [URL]....
For BitDefener, I found the folder where the .png files are located and I was able to overwrite them to white icons that would match my Windows 10 theme.

However, the icon in the system tray stays the same (ugly red B). I am sure there is something else I need to do seeing as BitDefender is a security application in which I am sure makes it hard to tamper with it's files.
How I can change these icon images? or know of a tool that allows you to change the program's system tray image?
It seems I have 3 monitor 3s. As a result, the same image now shows on all 3 screens, as opposed to the way it used to work (where all 3 screens would have different images).

View 7 RepliesBefore reverting Lumia 640 back to WP8.1 and Lumia Camera, I was being bugged by Windows Camera Living Images (shortly LI). It seemed that camera took just still images. I don't like a camera I can't trust.
Today I took some LI with 8.1. Lumia Camera is faithful to the setting and takes video clip every time. But how to view them on W10 PC? No way. So I opened one succesfull W10M LI (visible in W10 PC and phone) in order to duplicate the structure with 8.1 LI files, but the container is more than just simple zip, maybe a JPG with zip content added into it.
Then I noticed that failed W10M LIs from last Saturday (nice christmas lights in a shopping center with "dropping" lights) also had correct LI naming and they were the right size (around 3.5-4MB when still image is <2MB). I unzipped content and - living.jpg and living.mp4 were there. One image can be found at onedrive for those who are interested.I have also some other pictures with LI naming but the size is too small and no zip content in them.
How is it possible that LI images are created by the camera but neither phone nor PC are capable to show them?Is there a way to create W10-supported LI from WP8.1 LI files? App or batch file? Creating zip file and appending it to jpeg file does not seem to work...
Ever since installing windows 10, any selections that I make (like selecting text or files in explorer, etc..) can barely be seen. This is especially frustrating when making selections because the currently selected item(s) look like they are not selected just like all the rest.
Is there any way to make the current selection stand out like it did back in Windows 7?
I have already tried changing hue, contrast, gamma, etc in the Nvidia control panel and I have the latest graphics drivers.
I have gone into settings and properly selected desired home page.
Most of the time when I hit home, it goes to microsoft start.
So, I am just now getting around to trying to solve this problem due to the fact that I am needing to use the computer that has this problem at the moment. When ever anything that would put crap in My Documents (I.E. Rockstar) it instead goes to onedrive. The System will not let me change the setting on where documents get saved automatically. when I try to change it the selection box just goes blank. if I try to select "This PC" again it will then show up, however if I go away and come back the setting is back to saying "OneDrive".

View 9 RepliesI'm using WIn 8.1 as my main OS, but I have the 10 Home preview (Build 10240) on a second hard drive and I'm dual-booting. But there's something strange happening:
- If i set WIndows 10 as the default OS, then the PC boots to the OS selection screen and gives me 30 seconds to pick which one I want to use
- But if I set 8.1 as the default, it boots directly into 8.1 and doesn't let me select the 10 preview.
I'd prefer to have 8.1 as the default, but I don't want to go into BIOS every time I want to switch between them.
Trying a Windows install on a Server box with 4 HDD's installed. This server also allows boot from a Micro SD card. I've got a 64GB micro SD card loaded as well.
Fails when trying to create any partition on any of the HDD's. Works if I temporarily remove one HDD or take out the 64GB internal micro SD card.
I Get a message "Windows cannot create partition on selected Disk" - even when totally empty. It doesn't matter if GPT or MBR disks either.
Seems that if you want to install a non server version of Windows (i.e Windows 10 Pro for example) 4 HDD's is the limit (a micro SD card counts as an HDD).
If I install Esxi on the SD card then no prob creating Windows VM's without removing HDD's.
I think after w10 is installed you can add more HDD's.
I keep getting an error when I install Windows 7. I want to install Windows 7 alongside Windows 10. windows cannot be installed to this disk the selected disk is of the gpt partition style
I read solutions to this and most of them write I must format my entire hard drive, but I can't do that because that would mean losing all my data.
I don't want to lose my Windows 7 so I have Windows 2000 Full, Vista upgrade, Windows 7 upgrade, Windows 8 upgrade, so I figure I somehow put in Windows 8 upgrade however I get a message saying "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style" I think I know why is because I had the BATA Windows 10 on this disk and I can't delete 2 of the partitions.

Asus laptop with 8.1 installed. One disk, 2 partitions. I've installed 10 a number of times, VM and dual boot on desktop.
Went to install 10, dual boot. When I got to picking the partition, said "Cannot be installed, selected disk is of the MBR partition type."
Installed my Aomei Partition Assistant and changed to Disk to GPT. Now when I go to select the disk, it says "Cannot be installed, selected disk is of the GPT partition type.
I want to delete a printer selection from the print window for example text document File>Print I've deleted it in the window but it comes back.
View 3 RepliesSo after removing Windows 10 Developer preview from mscongif (after I upgraded from windows 7 to 10) I was still booting in the OS selection menu because I once attempted to install Kali Linux and now I have an extra option in this menu to "Continue to install Linux...". This option does not show up in the msconfig boot section. How can I remove it in order to save 5 seconds of booting time?

I game a lot and with some games that require lots of resources, sometimes while loading it will not respond, but on windows 7 i had the possibility to click something on the lines of "More Options" and i could see what the problem was.
Such as Apphang or Appcrash or other things like that. Is there anyway to re-enable this on windows 10, I upgraded strait from windows 7 to 10 without wiping HDD.
When a card is selected (clicked on) it used to "highlight" around the card. Since the 1511 Windows 10 update this only happens infrequently. 99% of the time it does not highlight. I've checked all available options in the games, reset to defaults, etc. but nothing fixes it.
View 3 RepliesOk, so I am having a strange problem. In my PC's admin account, when I attempt to switch users by: Start Menu > (click user account) The start menu disappears / rolls back down. I cannot switch users this way, but this only affects my admin account. What can I do to make it work like normal?
View 1 RepliesMy wife purchased a Dell 8700 XPS with i7 4790 processor,16GB ram. and Nvidia GeForce GTX 745 4GB and a 2 terabyte hard drive. She also purchased a Kingston HyperX 120 GB SSD. I used a popular software to migrated Windows 8.1 Home to the SSD from the HDD. This seemed to work well but on booting up the system the HDD boots unless I go into the bios and select the SSD in SATA 2 under the DVD reader/burner and select a {boot manager on Disk 1{ which was installed by migration software. I had hoped to format the HDD and use as data disk afterwards.
I noted that some threads mention I should have disconnected HDD when booting from SSD first time which I did not do.It also appears that the OEM partition is still on the HDD. I believe a clean install is required. Will this also remove the > boot manager on disk 1> line in the bios.
My numlock key used to be preset after a computer restart or reboot, now it has to be manually pressed before the number key section and led indication is operational. I have checked and it is selected on in my bios settings.
