I just installed windows 10, and the top and bottom corners of the border between my monitors catch my mouse regardless of how fast I'm moving. The MouseCornerClipLength registry entry is missing, and adding it makes no difference...
I use the window snapping feature a lot, but mainly for maximizing windows. I have a dual screen setup and when I drag a window along the top edge of the screen onto the second screen, it becomes stuck. This is very annoying, because I often want to move a window from screen 1 to screen 2 and maximize it at the same time.I first thought that this issue was related to the new ability to snap windows to one of the four corners. But even if I turn off snapping entirely and even if I am not dragging a window at all, my mouse becomes stuck in the top right corner of the first screen.
I have the sticky notes icon on the task bar. When I hover over it my note shows up but when I click on it it does not appear maximized on the desk top.
Basically, I want to have this one application window appear on all desktops. I'd like to be able to do it without having to pay for other software to achieve this. (DisplayFusion will do it, but for a fee of $25. And I really don't want to run another process and pay for the use of just one feature.)
I am new to using Windows 10 - 'just upgraded from Windows 7 about 3 days ago. So far I'm enjoying it except for the trouble I'm having with my mouse cursor. Any time I transfer to another monitor (I run a 3 monitor setup), my mouse cursor gets stuck if I try to move to the next screen via the corners of my screens.
I've read everything I could on every forum I could regarding registry edits and disabling various features and nothing seems to work. As far as registry editing goes, everything I read is for Windows 8.1 and my machine doesn't even HAVE the registry keys mentioned in those work around. It's very frustrating and counter intuitive to keeping my Windows experience productive and ultimately a bit of a deal breaker.
Only once in a blue moon do I see clean shortcut icons without arrows. It's almost always shortcut icons overlaid with black squares on the lower left corners. I had checked the Windows Registry against the steps in the article twice to find that they were all correct.
I am trying to find a way to prevent image thumbnails from displaying on my Desktop only.
I have my folder options set to allow for thumbnails. I embed images often, and I find it much easier when I can look for the image by sight, rather than by name only. I am trying to find out if I can leave my folder options set to allow for this, but not to allow thumbnails on the actual Desktop.
I thought that thumbnails would only work when the icons are set to size 'medium' and above, however I did right-click the Desktop and select "Small Icons," but the files still show as thumbnails.
This simple Registry Tweak will disable the 'blur' effect behind the transparent Menu and Taskbar in Build 10074 and later.(Perform this tweak only if you are familiar and comfortable with making changes to the Windows Registry) Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_ USERSOFTWARE MicrosoftWindows Current Version ThemesPersonalize in the Windows Registry and toggle the EnableBlurBehind value to 0. Close the Registry and restart Explorer.
How to disable that? When i open something (folder, files, pictures, etc....) it's automatic added to the recent files. And i saw everytime when i right click folder icon at taskbar.
Edit: After the updated 10586. I disabled this in options in Start setting. It's is OFF but i still saw Recent Files when i right click active Folder on the taskbar.
Found a solutions from here: Quick access - Add or Remove Recent files in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
Well a feature of 10 I don't need but can't find a removal process for is that icon (that pops up the top middle of the screen when say a web page needs your webcam) of the app using the webcams icon next to a white picture of a camera...
Considering it's an always on top dealy and pretty useless to me how do I turn it and any potential other similar notifications off?
When I start up my laptop, this new Windows 10 has the lock screen. It has that picture of the sea and rocks etc. All I need to do is click it and it disappears .. but I don't want the nuisance lock screen. I don't have a touch screen, I still use my mouse and pad. This lock screen is just another click I have to do to get started. How to disable the lock screen.
Is there a way in Windows 10 to disable the blur effect but keep the transparency. (I know there was one in the early builds of Windows 10 when Microsoft was testing the blur effect. )
I have an Asus X550L and it came with Asus Smart Gesture, which I've been used to for quite a while now. I really liked using the three finger horizontal swypes to navigate webpages since I use strategy guides a lot and move back and forth between pages frequently. I was kind of shocked when my three finger swype performed an [Alt+Tab] instead of [Backspace].
Is there currently any way to disable this feature or override it so I can use Smart Gesture again? Or perhaps there is some way to customize what functions it performs?
Windows 10 Swype also changes the direction of scrolling when I use two finger vertical. I prefer inverted rather than regular, can I change this at the very least, if nothing else?
I have disliked this "feature" since windows 7 and I see they still have not restored the ability to manually sort without having to give every file a "tag". Note: I do not want to use windows live essentials as I hate photo gallery, so this is not an option. I used to be able to arrange my photos by dragging and dropping them next to another similar photo and it would snap to grid where I dropped it. This eliminate duplicate pictures. I found this ink for windows 7:
Windows Explorer Auto Arrange - Disable. However it says very clearly at the beginning not to use it for any other OS versions. Does this works for windows 10 as well or if there is a way to do it in windows 10? I would prefer a 3rd party program as oppose to editing my registry if it can work (all the things that need "fixing" for customization in windows 10 seem to always suggest a reg fix, but I am afraid to edit my registry too much).
At day 1 of the windows 10 release my Secure Logon background was a specified picture, the same picture as my desktop background. Since Windows automatically updated it has been changed to a picture.
How do I get the picture back?
To be clear, I want this specifically for the Secure logon screen (where it shows "Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete" to unlock), not the standard logon screen.
I activated the ctrl alt disable login screen for Windows 10 by using this registry key from this forum.(Lock Screen - Enable or Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums).
I downloaded and installed the key to disable only to find it didn't work so I tried to manually do it by changing the number from 0 to 1 only to find its already at 1. I also tried going the user passwords2 to find the box to disable ctrl alt disable login is already ticked, but is greyed out meaning I can't untick the box.
Every time I start up or wake up my laptop it asks me to enter my pin number, my husband also has a dell laptop running windows 10 but his does not need any pin to enable using it, how can I disable requirement for pin.
I just replace my old keyboard. The problem with the new keyboard is I need to press the FN button + the function key (like volume up and down) before the function key will work. On my old keyboard the functions could be performed by only pressing the function key. There was no need to also press FN.
Is there a way to disable the FN key so I can go back to one button function key operations?
I recently did a reinstallation and since doing so, I'm unable to rectify 2 issues I'm having.
The first is my system tray icons and sub menus for task bar icons having a 1px border like the following screenshot:-
The second, if I right click my taskbar icons, I want to make the colour match the rest of the colour scheme, not be black, like the following screenshot:-
I am trying to disable OneDrive & every time I type in "gpedit.msc" I get a message that Windows can't find it. Surely there has to be a way to disable it isn't there.
