View 4 RepliesI have this problem on my fresh Windows 10 Pro x64 installtion where the documents folder keep multiplying in the file explorer navigation pane, it sometimes appears when I'm using the file explorer or leave it open in the background for a while. The system folders (Documents, Pictures and the other system folder) are all located in OneDrive and in my case D:OneDriveDocuments.
And this is what happens when I leave the file explorer open for a while. What triggers it so it is hard to reproduce. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with it being in OneDrive but I guess not since none of the other folders are acting like this. The extra Document folders don't appear like that all at once, they appear one by one and when you wait long enough it can become like that. There are no events in the event viewer that seem to be related to this problem so nothing I can show you from there.
I've just found the cause of this problem, it caused by OneDrive syncing the folder. The moment it starts to look for changes or update changes in the folder it will multiply and keep adding more folders one bye one.
I recently uninstalled Adobe Creative Cloud. Even after uninstalling, a folder named "Creative Cloud Files" remains in the File Explorer. I can't find a way to delete this. How can I remove this folder?
View 1 RepliesI just did read (and do) instructions about removing OneDrive from the left explorer-pane. (and the quick-access pane) after reading a few hour, with instructions it was done in 2/3 mins
but now the question.. since this is about DropBox and not about OneDrive, I want to remove the DropBox item from the left-explorer-pane, but i do not want to remove (uninstall) dropbox...
I've seen adding shortcuts for these folders to Quick Access, but not rooted in the Navigation Pane. Critical info regarding display in Navigation Pane was found here: URL....Critical info regarding the appropriate flags for display in Open/Save dialogs was found here: URL...These files work on a per-user basis. This avoids having to deal with Ownership/Permissions issues of the CLSIDs under HKLM. So here are the files:
Links-Add to NavPane-Per User-32-bit.reg
Links-Add to NavPane-Per User-64-bit.reg
Recent Folders-Add to NavPane-Per User-64bit.reg
Recent Folders-Add to NavPane-Per User-32bit.reg
For Pinned items in Quick Access in Win10 Navigation pane, a gray Pin icon is displayed beside each item.
Can it be removed or made transparent with Reshacker?
Note: I wanted to keep the Quick access feature so that I can still drag and drop in Nav pane.
Got this weird issue that's started today, for some reason my navigation pane is blank....

View 1 RepliesWhy does drive F & G show up twice in navigation pane? They are external HDs.

View 7 RepliesAs shown below there are 2 drives missing from the Navigation Pane (vertical bar on the left of the File Explorer). How do I show them up there?
View 9 RepliesWhich registry setting allows you to open the Links (Common Places FS Folder) explorer navigation pin as a drop down, as was the default behavior prior to the quick access pin being added in Win10?
For example, the Reg below will pin the Links folder back to the Explorer Nav Pane, however since the placeholders in the Links folder are shortcuts and not actual directories, no dropdown is able to be produced in the way that Windows 8 and backwards was able to.
Quick Access unfortunately doesn't offer the ability to rename anything pinned to it.
For example, I have a shortcut in the Links folder for both Start Menu locations (ProgramData and AppData), which I've renamed to differentiate between the two, however doing the same with Quick Access pins two folders named Start Menu as pinned placeholders... obviously a programmer missed that caveat of Quick Access.
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00; explorer shell:::{d34a6ca6-62c2-4c34-8a7c-14709c1ad938};
Links Folder (Common Places FS Folder)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesWow6432NodeCLSID
{d34a6ca6-62c2-4c34-8a7c-14709c1ad938}]@="Links""System.
[Code] .....
On the Task Bar and Start Menu Properties screen, my middle tab is 'Navigation'.
Isn't it supposed to be 'Start Menu'???
How to Change Navigation Panel Sizer Color?
View 1 Repliesis there anyway i can display my details panel on the bottom ? like it used to on win 7?
because windows 10 shows it on right hand side, but it's just taking too much of the space on my screen, it's really inconvenient when you open 2 folders and snap to sides and modify files.
all I have is 'desktop'. Everything else is under that. But all the pics I've seen of windows 10 show 'this PC' as the top level link. I would much prefer that. "desktop' ends up being twice in the tree, and removable media twice as well. Well, actually desktop is right inside my user folder too!
View 5 RepliesIs it possible to move the info pane to the bottom of Explorer windows, similar to Windows 7? Seems easier to read for music files especially, rather than having long word wrapping for artist/album titles and so on.
View 1 RepliesIf I create a shortcut to my documents folder, or pin it to Quick Access or Start Menu, then the shortcut will take me to my Documents library, which is not what I want. (The annoyance comes from the fact that once there if I then decide to go somewhere that isn't in the library, I can't simply go up to the containing folder; I also cannot click the address bar to get the current folder path.)
Is there a way to keep shortcuts to the documents folder (or pinned items) from taking me to libraries? Also is there a way to delete the default libraries completely? (I don't have any use for them.)
If disabling the libraries feature is the only way to do this then so be it, but I'd rather not as I might be able to actually use libraries. If that is the only way to do it, how would I disable the feature? I found this article which tells how do disable the feature in Windows 7, but I wasn't able to find anything for Windows 10. (Would the same .reg files work in Windows 10?)
I spend most of my time in Linux && am just recently becoming a regular user of windows 10. The Problem: I like OR would like to use the pinned shortcuts accessed on my taskbars folder icon by right-clicking. The pictures, music, videos, and recorded tv work as expected. The Downloads and Documents return a message, 'the item you selected is unavailable etcetera etcetera' I would like to use them. Here are some images to explain.
The only oddity if there is one is I run 2ssd's and 1hdd. One Arch Linux, one Windows 10, and a 4tb storage drive that contains the account folders for windows 10 (Documents, Videos, etc). All works well except shortcutting to open the Downloads && Documents folders from the taskbar the others respond as expected. If you can see in the above images the paths shown are correct mappings to targets.
When I open File Explorer there are a number of items listed in the left pane. Is there a way to remove some of them that I do not use like Videos and Music? Also at the bottom, after Network is Homegroup. I do not use Homegroup. Can I delete it from this list? I have other computers that do not list Homegroup so why does this one list it?
View 5 RepliesI added a folder to quick access in explorer. But after I deleted that folder I am unable to delete the item in quick access?
View 9 RepliesI can't link a shortcut of my user folder to Quick Access. It only links the direct folder which has a silly name (created by the first five letters of my email address), and it's just so stupid to look at. I want Quick Access to refer to the shortcut as the 'User' directory, but this seems impossible to do without renaming the direct folder, which is not recommended at all.
View 3 RepliesI'd been using this method on Windows 7: Windows Explorer Taskbar Icon - Change Open To Target And I take it that this is how it's done in 8: File Explorer Taskbar Icon - Change Open To Target. Will the latter tutorial also work here in 10?
View 2 RepliesWhen I create a shortcut to file in Program Files, the target path for that shortcut will be to Program Files (x86), even though the start in path will be correct. Furthermore, even though the target path is incorrect and no icon is displayed for the shortcut, the shortcut still works.Shortcuts to items placed in the Program Files folder by an installer do not have this problem. It is only for files that are manually placed in the Programs Files folder by me the user, i.e. copy and pasted there.
View 3 RepliesIs it possible to place different sets of icons on different desktop ? For example, having desktop 1 empty, desktop 2 full of files, desktop 3 with shortcuts to programmes/games, etc. Also is there a way to have a different wallpaper on each desktop, to tell them apart faster ?
My guess is all of that is not possible, given that additional desktops are not supposed to be "permanent", but rather added/deleted quickly. But maybe with a bit of tweaking ?
Is such a shortcut possible? I can't identify a file to open,
