View 2 RepliesI pretty much have resolved all my niggling little issues with Windows 10.....I however can not seem to get the clock on the lockscreen to show as 24 hour clock. I have it set to 24 hour clock everywhere else but the lockscreen. In fact even in the preview for the lockscreen settings it shows it in 24 hour mode, but in reality when the lockscreen comes up it still shows the time in 12 hour clock. So am I missing something somewhere? If it shows on the preview as 24 hour clock, this leads me to believe that this capability does exist. No?
View 9 RepliesReceived an automatic update for my Windows 10 a couple of days ago and since then my PC has been sounding the notifications sound (as if I'm receiving a new email) every minute or so without actually reporting any new notifications or new emails. I've unplugged all externally connected devices (in case it was a device issue) and have found that the only way it stops is if I close Outlook (2016). I usually leave my Outlook open so I know when new emails arrive - but as it's sounding notifications for no apparent reason I've just closed it down to get some peace. I've even tried setting the notifications sound to 'none' for Outlook in the Notifications / All Settings / System / Notifcations & Actions tab - and yet it still sounds a false notification when Outlook is open.
View 3 RepliesI've just set up Win 10 Mail to check my email accounts. It works really well and I get the notification banner/sound just fine - which is OK for when I'm working on my PC, but what if I'm not?
The banner/notification disappears after a few seconds so I was wondering if there's a way to keep it active until acknowledged/clicked on?
I regularly use the 24 hour time format for all of my systems. Its not a major issue I have now with Win10, but its annoying a bit.
Before I logon to Windows 10, the default lock screen theme has the time in 12 hour format instead of the 24 hour format.
In Windows, I set everything in 24 hour time. Period. I just don't like 12 hour time.
However, when I sign out or just by locking my screen, it does show the time in 24 hour format.
But when I reboot my system it shows the time in 12 hour format.
What is the minimum I need to have set to "on" to get mail notifications to work consistently with action center? Is it possible? Yesterday I got it working pretty consistently and I thought great but today it seems to work only occasionally. I've read this is common.
I have a live and outlook email account. I have them set up on the mail app and both are set to allow a banner notification in the settings on the mail app. I also have in Settings/System/Notifications and Actions/Show notifications from these apps/Mail set to ON banners and sound.
I also have the Mail app as the default.
What else beside this in Settings/System and Settings/Privacy do i need enabled to get Mail notifications to work reliably?
I have Thunderbird which gives me notifications but I don't like to leave it on and would like it if the notifications could work.
I have Windows 10 Home Edition, like millions of others. Like millions of others, I prefer to hibernate my computer rather than shut it down outright most nights. And like millions of others, I am getting awakened IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT because Windows 10 is trying to notify me about updates! Repeatedly.
When I want information about updates, I'll ask. I've turned off the Update Service on the Services tab of the Task Manager. After some hours or some days, it turns itself back on. A cat-and-mouse game with Microsoft. I have stopped the automatic updates themselves but I can't stop the stop the aggressive notifications. Should I be happy? At least the computer is no longer shutting down without warning IN THE MIDDLE OF A PROJECT THAT I'M WORKING ON to update. But it stills turns on at various hours of the night, cooking with its lid closed, to provide me unbidden notifications of updates.
I need to stop this NOW, otherwise Microsoft can shove Windows 10 where the sun don't shine. I own this computer, not Microsoft. Can it be done? Or do I go back to Linux?

I want to know how can I make a line break in Word universal app (on Windows 10) ? When I press return key, that makes a new paragraph (skip a line).
Usually , with the classic Word (desktop), we can press SHIFT + ENTER return to the next line but that is not working on Word Mobile universal app. How can we do that ?
Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 7 appeared to run correctly -- until it went to a perpetual loop with a blank screen.
View 1 RepliesI have been having this rendering issue for more than 3 months now and it persists after several OS re-installs.
Resolving this problem is of extreme importance to me since many of the programs I rely on are affected. Reverting to an older Windows version is not an option for me.
Affected programs:
Mocha Pro 4.1.3, IDA Pro 6.8, VLC Player & qBitTorrent (all versions)overall countless new and old programs affected
How to reproduce:
I can reproduce it successfully every timeMove the mouse from one sub-menu item that expands (SS1) to another (SS2) for a few times (usually around 10 is enough)It can also happen by interacting with any other UI elements in the program (although takes a few more clicks)
SS1:
SS2:
Facts:
Mouse stops highlighting any buttons or menu items in the whole program - if you hover over anything that's supposed to have a hover action (like these menus) - nothing will happen, as if the mouse isn't thereClicks will also only work in less than 10% of all scenarios'Ghost' menus (only the shadows of the drop-down menus are visible) will as well start appearing from some hover actionsUI of the affected program suddenly becomes very slow, laggy and choppy when the bug is triggeredEvery program effected by the bug will not exit properly no matter what and the process will stay running forever, unless closed via task managerThe only solution is to restart the program
Troubleshooting done:
old versions of the same softwarenew versions of the same softwareall compatibility settingsall possible integrated and dedicated GPU drivers (from both laptop manufacturer websites & official websites)fully disabling Windows animationsre-installing my computer 3 times
My guess (as of 4th of January, 2016):
I think that the hovering effect of the mouse gets 'stuck' in one place (the place where the glitch initially occurs) and it stays there forever, despite the movement of the actual mouse.

View 1 RepliesI turned on "Windows Spotlight" in my Lockscreen settings (Personalization) for a while but then wanted to go back to selecting my own background image. I can select an image, but a few hours or a day later the windows spotlight images come back again. The selection in Lockscreen still says "Image", but the image has changed to a lockscreen one. If I again select my image, it only holds for a while, then reverts to a spotlight image.
If I could find the Windows Spotlight service or exe or task I would disable/delete it, but I can't find it.
On my non-tile desktop, the icon keep relocating, Even a program called desktop-OK does not stop it.
The screen saver kicks in and upon awakening, they are all moved to the upper-left.
I have auto arrange turned off.
It seems like MS thinks no one has a larger screen than 1020 x 640.
Is there anyway to stop the weather forecast from appearing on the calendar? I find it to be a distraction.
View 4 RepliesAs title says. I live in UTC/GMT, and DST is on. For the past few weeks now, the clock seems to go back one hour, as if reporting normal time, yet the daylight savings time option is still selected (and if I un-check it, it goes back two hours--one for the DST, and one from the going back by itself).
Why it does this, and it's actually f-ing with my schedules since I've been one hour late to a couple of things now due to this small but rather colossal error. I actually have to Google my time instead of looking at the bottom right corner, which is so ridiculous.
This is getting very old, BSOD without warning, critical process died message, and reboots after collecting error information. I don't know what to do to fix it. Started after upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 8.
View 5 RepliesHave an office computer which bluescreens daily after a certain period of time, but then is fine for the rest of the working day.
BSOD shows CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION,
and bluescreenview shows plenty of ntoskrnl.exe+ 14e2a0
I'm sure its relating to a driver but how to go about finding out which one is most likely at fault. Is there a website I can dump one of the DM log files into and have it bring up a list of outdated drivers?
Should I be worried. I upgraded from Win 7. It took me to the welcome screen and when I typed in my password it would just hang. Then go black and reboot. So I pressed ctrl alt delete and options came up. I decided to just reinstall basically formatting my hard drive. And it is just hanging there now. At 99%. Is this normal and if not what should I do?
View 7 RepliesWhen I place an entry scheduled at 3pm and ends at 4pm, it will take a step back in the 2pm-3pm slot. I really want to use this app because of its compatibility with the mail app, but this keeps me from doing so.
View 9 RepliesI keep getting random minute long freezes every half hour or so on Windows 10. I can still open different windows and i can enter text but nothing loads, music stops playing and no new windows will open. How do i diagnose the problem? I have had the same problem on windows 8.1.
View 1 RepliesMy Laptop has an ongoing problem (about a month now) persistent through several windows updates. The taskbar will sometimes, with no clear trigger or cause, start to rapidly flash between all my open windows, eventually when I click anywhere on the taskbar I am prompted with a not responding windows and the only option is to end the "microsoft windows" process. All the taskbar icons then disappear and seem to reload over approx 10 seconds, once this is complete, all the same windows are open, its as if nothing has happened?Needless to say this is seriously irritating, and gets me raging so my productivity hits rock bottom,
View 2 RepliesWhen I set my pc to show a slideshow on the lock screen after a few minutes of inactivity, it shows only one default picture instead of the pictures in the folder it is configured to use. If I look in the settings, there is some red text that says "You need more than one picture to show in your slideshow", even though there are eight pictures in the selected folder.
The "only show pictures that fit my screen" and "include camera roll folders" settings are off, and "when pc is inactive, show lock screen instead of turning off the screen" is on. I have DisplayFusion installed, but it is not set to control the screensaver.
Will Windows 7 Themes work on Windows 10 ??
View 3 RepliesHeretofore on Windows 7, I was able to enjoy random slide show of all my pictures as background. Now, when I go to control panel personalization I'm asked for a picture 'album', which limits the variety of background pictures. Is there any way to set my controls to get the slide show of 'all' my pics?
View 8 RepliesI used to see icons on my desktop and today, they disappear altogether. There is a side bar you work with and I don't feel comfortable.
The screen is black and if I right click on screen, it does not work and nothing is coming up to chose. When changing screens, I see glimpse of icons on the desktop momentarily.
So, my true desktop screen seems to be covered by this new black screen with left side bar.
