I've not got the 'Start Menu' tab in my 'Taskbar and Start Menu Properties' control panel (right-click on taskbar). I've seen screenshots on the web, but my Win 10 Pro doesn't have. How can I enable?
View 1 RepliesIs there a way to customize Navigation Pane folders in order to remove unnecessary folders and add desired folders and shortcuts in Windows 10 Pro.?
View 4 RepliesI just did read (and do) instructions about removing OneDrive from the left explorer-pane. (and the quick-access pane) after reading a few hour, with instructions it was done in 2/3 mins
but now the question.. since this is about DropBox and not about OneDrive, I want to remove the DropBox item from the left-explorer-pane, but i do not want to remove (uninstall) dropbox...
New install upgrade from Win7 and I cannot understand why the folder icons are kind of incomplete ??
View 2 RepliesWhich registry setting allows you to open the Links (Common Places FS Folder) explorer navigation pin as a drop down, as was the default behavior prior to the quick access pin being added in Win10?
For example, the Reg below will pin the Links folder back to the Explorer Nav Pane, however since the placeholders in the Links folder are shortcuts and not actual directories, no dropdown is able to be produced in the way that Windows 8 and backwards was able to.
Quick Access unfortunately doesn't offer the ability to rename anything pinned to it.
For example, I have a shortcut in the Links folder for both Start Menu locations (ProgramData and AppData), which I've renamed to differentiate between the two, however doing the same with Quick Access pins two folders named Start Menu as pinned placeholders... obviously a programmer missed that caveat of Quick Access.
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00; explorer shell:::{d34a6ca6-62c2-4c34-8a7c-14709c1ad938};
Links Folder (Common Places FS Folder)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesWow6432NodeCLSID
{d34a6ca6-62c2-4c34-8a7c-14709c1ad938}]@="Links""System.

How to Change Navigation Panel Sizer Color?
View 1 RepliesI've seen adding shortcuts for these folders to Quick Access, but not rooted in the Navigation Pane. Critical info regarding display in Navigation Pane was found here: URL....Critical info regarding the appropriate flags for display in Open/Save dialogs was found here: URL...These files work on a per-user basis. This avoids having to deal with Ownership/Permissions issues of the CLSIDs under HKLM. So here are the files:
Links-Add to NavPane-Per User-32-bit.reg
Links-Add to NavPane-Per User-64-bit.reg
Recent Folders-Add to NavPane-Per User-64bit.reg
Recent Folders-Add to NavPane-Per User-32bit.reg
For Pinned items in Quick Access in Win10 Navigation pane, a gray Pin icon is displayed beside each item.
Can it be removed or made transparent with Reshacker?
Note: I wanted to keep the Quick access feature so that I can still drag and drop in Nav pane.
Okay, I was following this tutorial ( How to customize the Start list in Windows 10 ) and noticed that I don't even have the, "Start Menu" tab. Is it supposed to be gone? If so. How am I supposed to customize the start list?
View 5 RepliesIt started to happen yesterday, and when I "Right Click -> Properties" in any icon, nothing shows up. I tested with every other right click menu's options and they worked fine.
View 4 RepliesI tried everything to solve this problem but i can't fix it.
View 4 RepliesWhen right clicking on taskbar to open properties window it does not show start button tab in Win 10?
View 1 RepliesHere's a screenshot of "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" dialog from a fresh clean install of Windows 10 Pro x64
As you can see, despite its name, it does not have a tab for "Start Menu". I remember that Preview versions of Windows 10 had a "Start Menu" tab. Did they just remove at the last moment? And how I change Start Menu options without that tab?
After a recent update I'm locked in to the Task Bar menu and cannot access the windows 10 live icon menu. Can't access the apps and Cortana doesn't work. I've tried to change the page by clicking on the windows Icon at the top of the task bar and using the windows button on my key board. Am I missing something?
View 6 RepliesI hope this hasn't been already asked. I'm trying to get my "Start Menu" to look similar to the below right image. I've read tutorials and I simply do not have or can not find the "Customize Start Menu" dialogue box. I am currently running the final release of Windows 10 Enterprise x64.
View 9 RepliesThere's no way, i can't change the taskbar color. No matter if i go to Settings - Colors and change the options, it keeps showing me a white ugly taskbar. i've found in my w10 installation.
View 5 RepliesI was wondering if its possible to change somehow the firefox and spotify icons to match those of the default windows task bar icons so it looks more uniform? in linux changing icons is easy as pie...is it possible for windows?
View 9 RepliesDo you know any program who allow to change W10 to classic taskbar? I would like to have gray taskbar and black text, like classic taskbar.
View 4 RepliesWhen I run Outlook 10, all I get is a subset menu showing up in the task bar.
View 6 RepliesThis issue just popped up after restarting my computer today. Earlier, all the task bar icons were showing and I could see the time/date, but clicking on them would do nothing. Also whenever I tried to open pictures with "Photos" I would get an error message about something timing out and I would have to use windows explorer.
So I restarted, and when I booted my computer up again, the task bar icons never showed up and the time and date is gone. I can't click on cortana and clicking the windows icon will bring up nothing. I've restarted twice since then but nothing has worked so far.
Windows 10 only offers 49 different colors for the color of the Start Menu and the Task Bar. None of which are light grey colors, like I had in Windows 8.0. Please have us be able to change the color of the Task Bar. Why didn't Microsoft give us a full RGB color spectrum choice of what color we want our start menu to be and our task bar to be, like in Windows 7? Only 49 colors, come on. These 49 colors are in Settings -> Personalization -> Colors
Pics of color choices : [URL]..
I may have to use Start10 in order to get control of the colors.
How to unpin the search & task view from the taskbar? They take valuable space in the taskbar while they can easily be triggered with windows key shortcuts.
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to get my small taskbar to display both time and date, like the regular big taskbar. By default, Windows displays time and date on the taskbar in bottom-right corner. But if you go into taskbar's properties and select the option to show smaller icons, the taskbar becomes a little bit smaller (which is great) and there's no room for date to be displayed (which is not great at all).
I found a few "solutions" for Windows 7, like using some third-party apps to override the default one (but there's all kinds of issues with them), or creating a new toolbar pointing to a folder that is being renamed everyday via schedule (ridiculous!) and so on.Back when I was using Windows 7, I found a dark theme that actually solved this problem (google "cryeR deviantart windows 7 basic black theme"). You had to take ownership and replace the Aero.msstyles file, and then patch some stuff with provided utility. Kinda complicated, but it worked. Now I'm on Windows 10, and I can't find anything that would work. I really like the smaller taskbar, but I would also like to see the date.
Sometime in December, 2015 my keyboard Windows button and my task bar Start menu and Search stopped working and without the ability to START I lost all the tiles. Windows has now become very cumbersome to use.
I have given up on Windows 10 and it's too late to recover Windows 7 (Windows 7 was great). Really wish this had not happened as I have been a Windows user since version 3.1. I guess I posted this here because I'm frustrated with the problem and need to air it out. Must buy a new PC.
I'm not getting any error messages on boot up, but the start menu doesn't work and my task bar contains only the start menu, cortana, task view and an icon for no new messages. No clock, none of my programs or even edge. If I hadn't put some of my programs from the taskbar in a folder on the desktop, I'd have a hard time getting to them.
I've rebooted 4 or 5 times since this started on Wednesday and tried the critical error fix of holding down the F8 while rebooting and nothing has worked. I've been running win10 since August and have had the critical error message a few times, but have always been able to clear it before.
