View 6 RepliesWin10 update and the start menu icons. I can change the colour but only for all of them to one colour, but can I change individual ones? And/Or better still can I make the small icon in the middle of them occupy the whole tile. I notice some tiles are only the brand icon whilst others have my single chosen colour as a border round a small brand icon. I find it really hard to identify individual tiles in the mass of a single colour. What I would really really really like to do is to see the brand icons be the full size of the tile.
View 3 RepliesI really like how Microsoft combined the old start menu with the new Metro style tiles. There is only one problem though: How do I even change the color for a single individual tile? I know I can change the color of every tile, but how about only one?
View 1 RepliesWhy is it that some programs (like Edge, which I don't use), can have a bigger tile, on the start menu, and others (like Firefox, which I use) don't?
View 4 RepliesWindows 8.1 had a desktop tile in the start screen. Windows 10 does not appear to have it. Is there a way to get the desktop tile back in windows 10?
View 6 RepliesMy windows 10 boots up and immediatelt drops me into the tile page and as yet I have figured no way to conveniently move back to my regular desktop, taskbar, etc?
View 1 RepliesI have basically given up hope that Microsoft will return the Windows 7 (and before) Start Menu back where it belongs. So I want to play their game and try to modify the tile side. I see that programs that I pin to the Start menu go to the very bottom of the tiles. I added a title called Start List Programs and moved all of the pinned programs under that title.
I am wondering if I could move that title and the list of programs above the Life at a Glance section. I know that every time I pin something to the Start menu I would have to move it to the top but it would be better than having to pull the bar down to the bottom every time I wanted to access something from the Start menu. If that fails, I will see if Classic Shell has a Windows 10 option and go from there.
How can i install games from Microsoft store without been installed to All Programs Start window and instead to be installed as big tile in the start screen in windows 10?
View 3 Replieshow to make my Origin Tile show as the default colour, as I've not touched anything and it's gone black since I updated Windows 10.
View 6 Replieshow to get rid of that annoying UAC shield icon Windows 10 likes to randomly put on shortcuts? I know I could shut UAC off but the second I do stuff like personalize starts throwing a built-in admin error, and such. There has to be a way somehow.
View 2 RepliesI have lots of shortcut icons on my desktop for files and programs. That means 2 or 3 columns of small icons. It would appear the Win 10 will only allow 1 column. I've messed with the icon spacing and vertical spacing (regedit) and the vertical spacing works but horizontal spacing seems to have no effect.
View 9 RepliesI'm used to tweaking the values in HKCUControlPanelDesktopWindowsMetricsIcon Spacing in previous version of Windows, but it appears to work a bit differently in Win10.
Changing the Icon Spacing from the default of -1560 to, say -2000, gives more room for the icon title to spread out, but doesn't actually move the icons. e.g. I have some icons with long titles wrapped on two lines. By increasing the value to -2000 the titles now sit on a long single line, but the icons haven't moved. In fact, the icon titles now will overlap if I have two long-titled icons next to each other.
{Edited to add:]
Oh, for heavens sake! I had done several Icon Spacing tweaks in the registry and rebooted several times but nothing changed except the titles expanding wider. Then, I decide to move some icons around. Poof! The entire desktop grid adjusted the icon spacing, and rearranged the icons! Go figure.
Well a feature of 10 I don't need but can't find a removal process for is that icon (that pops up the top middle of the screen when say a web page needs your webcam) of the app using the webcams icon next to a white picture of a camera...
Considering it's an always on top dealy and pretty useless to me how do I turn it and any potential other similar notifications off?
Looking for steps or procedures required to place a Google icon on Windows 10 Taskbar?
View 3 RepliesWhere Windows 10 stores it's new folder icons. I've tried changing folder icons but I am directed back to where I'm seeing the very old icons from XP, I think.

View 5 RepliesIm New Member and New User for Windows 10. This is My 1st Thread..I Want This Icon as ICO to Use for Shortcut Icon and Pin to Taskbar (I Think Size is 128x128 ?) (Use for NirCmd)
View 3 RepliesI created a new folder on the desktop and I can't change its icon to a one I downloaded. selecting the icon from the stock list (shell32.dll) works fine though. I tried with another folder in different location, still no luck. however, when I created a shortcut to the folder I placed on the desktop, I can change its icon to the custom one just fine. I just wanna have a folder with a blank icon.
edit: I fixed the issue. turns out Windows didn't like the fact that there was an "ą" letter in the icon path.
Where is the option to change the fonts for your icon, menu's etc... don't want to change size or colour just type.
View 8 RepliesIf I change a icon to small that is pinned to start I loose the icon.It comes back if I change to medium, just started with new build 10586
View 1 Replies I wrote a batch script to set a custom icon to folders:
ECHO [.ShellClassInfo]>%1desktop.in_
ECHO IconResource=C:Windowssystem32imageres.dll,22>>%1desktop.in_
move %1desktop.in_ %1desktop.ini
attrib +S +H %1desktop.ini
The desktop.ini it produces is identical to the one when doing the process manually:
[.ShellClassInfo]
IconResource=C:Windowssystem32imageres.dll,22
But it doesn't work. It only works if I set the folder icon manually.
I have a file on the desktop for Windows 10 Forums The color logo has been replaced with a generic globe with the shortcut arrow. the other W 10 F articles and shortcuts have also changed to the globe. I have other Icons that have changed on me. Question: How can I change or add the icon I want to a file or shortcut and make sure it stays that way?
View 1 RepliesSo I have installed Kaspersky Internet Security 2016 (latest update) on my system running Windows 10 X64. I always change my Monitor Scale to 125% , after the scaling the icon looks awful.
But when Kaspersky is scanning something (animation icon) - the icon looks crystal sharp, but when Kaspersky is idle, that icon become blurry again.
I have tested other Antiviruses e.g. Bitdefender / Eset - non of them were like Kaspersky.
First Image, is when Kaspersky was scanning some file.
Second Image, is when Kaspersky is idle.
So I assume this issue isn't related to Kaspersky, because the icon can be up-scaled w/out loosing quality!
