View 3 Repliesany way to remove blue color ?
View 3 RepliesMuch as I like the new windows 10, I find if I have a few windows open and overlapped then it's far to easy to close the wrong window. And the reason is that the whole washed out white and no window borders mean one window looks like it's another window when overlapped.
What would be great is if I could get a blue (or whatever) border back on the window so that it'a much easier to see which window is which. Is it possible without any third party stuff?
With the new Windows 10 November update it is now possible to change the color of the window title bar. But sadly this only works for the window that is in front and the background windows are still all white. I often click on the wrong spot when i want to move a window in the background and i want to know if there is a way to color all window title bars and not only the one in front. I know there is a way but that requires some modifying from a theme which i dont want. I would like to change it with windows settings if thats possible so there wont be a windows update that changes it again.
View 3 RepliesThis morning Microsoft sent that new "Service Pack" update out to my PC running Windows 10 Pro and now the mod used to make the windows title bar color change to anything than the white crap Microsoft uses will no longer work. I have tried twice to apply the color theme I had used before the update to make them colored again and it doesn't work. I even removed the mod and re did all the steps to make a new theme and still it doesn't work.

;notepad[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT*shell]@=""notepad.exe %1""[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT*shellopen]
@="Open &With Notepad"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT*shellopencommand]@="notepad.exe %1"
The above don't seem to give me open with notepad in context menu unlike in win7.
So, Windows 10. So far so good. There's just one small problem.
For starters, the background colour to these tooltips doesn't change when I change the colour in the Personalisation menu. But that's more of a secondary issue.
The primary problem is that weird transparent edge around the tooltip. When I first installed, I had something similar around the start menu. A restart fixed that problem. Now I experience these transparent edges around those tooltips and also at the edge of the notifications sidebar.
I never used a transparency workaround when I was running Windows 8.1, and that's about the only thing I can think of.
Is there a way to simply have the title bars use my accent color without the taskbar and start menu also using it?
View 2 RepliesWhen i started up my computer.. before getting to my login screen on windows 10.. both of my screens(i have 2 hooked up) started to flash black and white with what appeared to be colored dots... i had to force a shut down 2 times before it actually booted up normal.
View 1 RepliesWindows 10 is a very nice OS... But it sure has some annoying stuff... Well at least on my machine... Maybe I have a Registry setting that is set wrong... Here is what is happening...
I use a lot of txt files... But this is really ticking me off... I did not want to use the word I was thinking about...
I search for a fiIe, I find it, I click on it then and get the"What do you want to open this file" window, I pick notepad and open it, get what I need and close it...
A minute later I need to open the same file again and I click on it and the "What do you want to open this file" window opens again... Windows 10 can't remember what I used to open the file a minute earlier...
I made the txt file with notepad to begin with you would think it would know to open a file with the program that made it... If I want to open it with something else I would right click on the file and click "open with"...
But windows 10 gives you the same window when you double click the txt file or right click and click open with... I don't remember windows xp or 7 doing this...
When I boot up, reboot, Windows Notepad opens automatically with an error box "! Access Denied" - when I ok that it leaves a Notepad blank screen open. I close that and boot up is complete and I can work normally.
Cannot see anything in startup.
Since upgrading to Win 10, I have a couple of issues. Note Pad...it fills the entire screen and it won't resize. Whole screen or minimized....that's the extent of Note Pad. The calculator is the same...full screen only. I worked around that by downloading the win 7 calculator.

I hate Windows feature that enforces installing localized software - e.g. I live in Poland so if I set my location as "Poland" many apps will be installed with Polish interface, which I don't want to.
Therefore I've installed my OS in en-US version and left US as my location. Now it's all nice in terms of apps interface, as it's always English. Most programs cause no problems with one exception - Notepad...
Whenever I open a txt file with Polish national characters, I see "bushes" instead of them. I tried to open them as UFT-8 encoded, but it hasn't worked. I've changed Notepad default font into CE encoding - no effect.
I tend to believe the default Notepad encoding is set to westerns somewhere, but I can't figure where to look for the appropriate setting - how to change it, so txt files displayed correctly?
Have Auto correct spelling set to Highlight and it does nothing in notepad?
View 1 RepliesNormally, if I have notepad open, I would be able to click and drag an appropriate file into notepad, like a txt file, and it would open in notepad. Now, when I click and drag files into notepad, nothing happens.
View 9 RepliesCan't delete a word in notepad, issue is still persisting since the upgrade from win8.1 to win10. For Example, consider the following sentence (without quotes "Under the hood".I usually use shortcuts,so if I want to erase "hood" I won't erase by pressing Backspace key until it is erased completely. There is a shortcut in windows to erase a specific word, and that is Ctrl + Backspace. That way if the cursor is at the end of word "hood" and I press the shortcut to erase it as mentioned above,it won't,instead of erasing the word it'll just make a rectangular box in vertical positon. You can try for yourself too,try erasing a single word with the shortcut Ctrl + Backspace. It won't,it'll just make a vertical rectangular box.
View 1 RepliesI have a friend that has this problem,When he tries to print from either notepad or rich text document it says that it stops working,With no error code.
Printing from Chrome browser and Thunderbird email client work just fine. And his other computer prints just fine from notepad and rich text document.
Is there anyway to change the default 'Calibri' font that is set on opening Notepad or Wordpad?I would love to open Notepad to find the font set at something I like. 'Verdana' for example, so I can just get straight on.I know I sound lazy, but I use Note or Wordpad a lot, often dozens of times in a day, and I need to use a font I can see. I'm just sick of having to do this adjustment every bloody time!!

View 3 RepliesI was just wondering if there was a way to customize the background of the screen where you are prompted to enter the background
View 1 RepliesI'm having with Windows 10.
I recently did a reinstallation and since doing so, I'm unable to rectify 2 issues I'm having.
The first is my system tray icons and sub menus for task bar icons having a 1px border like the following screenshot:-
The second, if I right click my taskbar icons, I want to make the colour match the rest of the colour scheme, not be black, like the following screenshot:-
Taskbar color choices are extremely limited in W10, very difficult to read tabs. What is wrong with MS.....?
I tried run<"control color">, but it was useless as well.
Is there any external tools that will allow me to customize taskbar color independently from accent colors and borders.
I saw some suggestions to modify registry, but I do not want to go this route.
I want like Windows 7, I see the file shortcuts (not folders) at the top of start menu rather than in its alphabet folder.
I also want to disable showing alphabets A~Z and just show folders sorted by name.
Where are start menu tiles (pinned shortcuts) stored? I can't find them. I want to customize the start menu and back it up to deploy elsewhere.
View 1 RepliesAfter each reboot I have to reenter my touch pad preferences. Specifically, two-finger scroll direction. Running HP 2014 notebook w/o touch screen.
View 2 RepliesI hope this hasn't been already asked. I'm trying to get my "Start Menu" to look similar to the below right image. I've read tutorials and I simply do not have or can not find the "Customize Start Menu" dialogue box. I am currently running the final release of Windows 10 Enterprise x64.
