Customization :: Remove OneDrive Folders From Libraries
Aug 15, 2015
I actually do use OneDrive, and I am not trying to remove the app entirely. However, it seems like if I remove the OneDrive folder from my libraries (music, pictures, documents), next boot they show right back up.
This is incredibly annoying as I actually want my folders isolated... Documents is my local documents, and only the stuff I want put in the cloud is in OneDrive.

I would like the OneDrive icon to be hidden/removed from File Explorer on my 64 bit Windows 10 Home device. I find the same steps all over the that don't seem to work for me involving setting two flags in the registry as follows:
Set the System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree DWORD value to 0 for both of the following:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID{018D5C66-4533-4307-9B53-224DE2ED1FE6}
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTWow6432NodeCLSID{018D5C66-4533-4307-9B53-224DE2ED1FE6}
I've set them both on and off, restarting inbetween, several times but it doesn't seem to affect OneDrive in the File Manager. The other option presented is ripping OneDrive out completely but that doesn't seem to work for me as well. Those instructions involve killing the OneDrive process and then removing it using the following commands:
64-bit edition of Windows 10: %SystemRoot%System32OneDriveSetup.exe /uninstall
32-bit edition of Windows 10: %SystemRoot%SysWOW64OneDriveSetup.exe /uninstall
I've though I'm running 64-bit Windows 10 I don't even have OneDriveSetup.exe in my System32 folder. I do have it in my SysWoW64 folder but when I run it with the /uninstall switch nothing seems to happen and the OneDrive icon remains in File Explorer.

How do I remove "Folders" from Windows Explorer? I use only "Devices and Drives." I see nothing in folder and search options that lets me remove "folders" from Windows Explorer. Is this customization possible?

Is it possible to remove a default library? For example I don't want the Videos library at all, I'd like to remove it from the system. Deleting the related folder does not make it's icon disappear from the navigation panel.
EDIT: I mean it can be removed from the Libraries group but it stays listed under "This PC".

I have tried many times to include folders in my libraries with no luck. I've done this tons of times before, so I know I'm doing this correctly.
Here's what I do : Right-click on my D drive "Music" folder, which is the folder I want to add to the "Music" library.
I select "Include in library" and select the "Music" library.
However, after this I do not see the D-drive music folder or it's contents in the Music library.
When I attempt to add the D-drive music folder to the "Music" library again I get a response that says "Music is already included in the library."
Even after restarting I don't see it.
I tried using "WinLibraryTool". I could see the libraries I had added but weren't seeing. I tried changing the libraries from here but I get an error. This app probably isn't 10 compatible.
I have tried this with many different folders and libraries but I have the same problem.

ADDING Libraries to and REMOVING the This PC folder from the Save As dialog? I know how to remove and add these in File Explorer, but have no luck in finding a solution for the Save As dialog.I found this thread, but when I get to the value to be changed it already is set to that.
When you have an SSD drive with a secondary HDD for files, you can remap libraries to the HDD but saving files from a program is a problem. I guess another option would be to remap the This PC folders to the HDD and not show the libraries.

I have almost got Windows Explorer to what I am used to using. Anyway, what the arrows are pointing to in this picture are called, and how I would go about hiding them? Also, is it possible to hide the Libraries? Using the Navigation Pane properties to check or uncheck Libraries has no effect.

I've added folders to my libraries (like music, pictures etc.) but in the explorer they don't appear there, on the left. Instead I (gather that) I see folders with the same names as the libraries (which is quite confusing)...
For example, in the "music" library I have added a big fat folder with mp3s (other than the "iTunes" you see in the pic), which does not appear when I click on music, here. Apparently, this is not the library but some other folder of the same name.
I'd like to see the libraries there, instead of these folders. Is that possible?

When I right click an image on a webpage and select "save image as" the explorer window that pops up doesn't have "Libraries" in the navigation pane.
I can manually navigate to one of the folders that is included in my pictures library but "Libraries" is just not in the list like it is in the main file explorer window.

In Windows 10, I already have folders for Music, Videos, Documents and Pictures. Why can't these folders be synced with OneDrive? It would make so much more sense. Instead I have to create separate folders in my OneDrive directory in Windows Explorer with the same names, doubling everything up.

How to remove One Drive from File explorer after a reboot.
OneDrive Integration in Windows 8.1 - Enable or Disable
1.Win+R->gpedit.msc
2.Navigate to: Computer ConfigurationAdministrative TemplatesWindows ComponentsOneDrive
double click on: Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage.
3.Click on: Enable, Apply
Note - stop the one drive service if it appears in the system area (right hand end of taskbar or in the hidden area).
If after re-boot the one drive is still visible in File explorer - just click it and it will VANISH - GONE...

I have a laptop and PC that both have OneDrive. When I add folders to the laptop OneDrive and switch over to my PC, the folder appears immediately. I can open it and have no problems. But when I add files to that folder or any OneDrive folder on my laptop and switch over to my PC only the folder shows up--the files are not there. If I copy an entire folder with photos to my laptop OneDrive and switch over to the PC OneDrive, only the folder appears; there are no files to view.

I have a laptop with about 68GB of OneDrive sync'd data. I now have a new laptop which I am setting up and it will replace my old laptop.
What is the best way to do migrate all my data to the new machine?
1) Let OneDrive automatically sync with my new PC and use 68GB of my 250GB monthly allotment?
2) I could manually move the data over - as we did in the old days - and then turn on OneDrive and "hopefully" let it sync and realize that same data is on the new laptop and not download or create other copies.
Moving the data over to a new machine? How does OneDrive react?
I tried with one folder and it seems to work where it did not download the folder again or create a second copy. I tried another folder and it started downloading (syncing).
Bottom line is I'd prefer to manually move all the folders and files (copy) from my old laptop to my new laptop's OneDrive but don't know how well this will play out. Nothing on Microsoft's OneDrive sit or elsewhere on this specifically that I've found.

I have the option "Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or the taskbar" off.
However since the last update whenever I either copy or move a file into any folder windows puts that folder under the Recent group in the taskbar.

I couldn't fit it all in the title. Basically what I'm trying to ask for is if there is a way to remove the folders from "This PC" so I'm just displaying my hard drives like before. I'd like to keep the folders under quick access, and I would like to keep the folders in general, but they simply do not belong right by the drives under "This PC". I like change, but this one, I do not like at all.

how to get rid of "Documents" folder created by OneDrive for Business? See the below screen
This PC 'Folders' - Add or Remove in Windows 10
The above mentioned tricks don't work for this particular folder and I can't really find it in the Registry...
I was hoping this was this one {24D89E24-2F19-4534-9DDE-6A6671FBB8FE} described as "OneDrive Documents" but the well-know trick with adding "ThisPCPolicy" string with "Hide" value doesn't seem to work..

What my user folders looked like at first: Notice how the OneDrive and Podcasts folders stick out due to the Windows 7/8-style folders icons. So I found an alternative OneDrive icon in the image shell32.dll in C:Windows, extracted it and used that one (Windows 10-style icon). Then I created my own podcasts icon. I used the Windows 10-style folder paired with the Zune podcast icon to create my own custom icon. Here's the end result:
All of the folders match, now!!If you're interested in getting your hands on these folder .ico files yourself,
1) Download the ico files to a permanent location
2) Start with C: then navigate to the parent folder of the folder you want to customize (like C:Users[USERFOLDER])
1. Right click the folder, select Properties
2. Select the Customize tab
3. Click "Change icon..."
4. Then click "Browse..." and find where you saved your .ico file, and select it
5. Click OK.

This is a strange problem that only seems to happen on Windows 10. I have a Dell Venue 8 Pro, which shipped with Windows 8 (it may have been 8.1, can't remember)
Well, the problem with it is that it only has a 32GB on-board flash memory. After the OS and drivers are installed, there's only about 18GB usable for me.
I have around 16GB worth of files on OneDrive... you see the problem here? And that's only going to get bigger as I add more. So what I did before on 8 and am attempting to recreate now on 10 - I have a 64GB MicroSD card inserted, formatted as NTFS (because in Win8, you could only put OneDrive storage on NTFS, not exFAT or anything else). I made a folder called Danny's Data, and then went into C:/Users/Danny and changed "location" of each folder to that folder. Desktop, documents, pictures, music, videos, etc.
It was able to successfully move the locations there, so when I put any files on my desktop, they're *actually* stored on that MicroSD and not taking up precious flash memory space.
But for some reason, OneDrive refuses to move to it. I tried to change the location using the OneDrive software itself, and it gave me a message saying that location could not be used. I tried creating a symlink and it would give an error saying it "cannot find the files" even though they're obviously there.
I even tried opening up the registry editor, searching for C:/Users/Danny/OneDrive and changing it to D:/Danny's Data/OneDrive (it was in there 3 times, or possibly 4, I forget) and rebooting - got that same error that it can't find the files.
