I can access the Task manger and I tried terminating explorer.exe and restarting it but nothing changes.

Jan 1, 2016while playing video (using any software media player, movies & tv, internet explorer youtube, google chrome youtube, vlan), all other inactive windows (any other windows) turn blank and white. I have updated video drivers, did not make a difference. I have then uninstalled all video card driver and used only default windows drivers, played video with same result. Therefore, I am sure it is windows. Tonight while trying to watch the bowl games, I typically watch video and browse/study using IE/Chrome. This is pretty typical for me, but the browser windows turning black and white is getting really annoying.

Jun 25, 2015My laptop was multibooted with windows 10 preview and windows 7..after 1st restart everythng was normal..but from the next restart my laptop screen is going black instead of showing the window CHOOSE YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM..i can see only the mouse pointer..but by seeig from the 1st restart , i knew that topmost and default option was windows 10 and the lower option was windows 7...
I clicked the topmost place where i used to see the option as windows 10 and then it loaded just like normal, next time i clicked the lowermost option and it started the windows 7..the problem is that i am getting black screen that i am invisible to the option of chooing the operating system..i is now in a condition that i have to click without seeing anything on the screen, but just by imagining.

Dec 15, 2015I have acer aspire 5740 laplop, core i3 ..... A problem occured extending c windows drive as described below. It have 3 local drives
c - 20gbboot primary drive
d - 90 gb system , primary drive
e - 50 gb logical
Some unallocated space, I was extending c ,by deleting drive d ,at the deleting drive it, gives warning, that if you delete drive d , may your system not get start, i deleted, sudden restarting windows, displaying operating system not found, i tried to install new windows, no booting, after 2 trial, it showing black screen , i have tried some soln as per knowledge ram reset, ms dos boot usb drive. but nothing happened, laptop get normal heat, felt like hardrive boot.
File Explorer Window Crashes / Screen Goes Black For A Few Seconds
Mar 30, 2016I have Windows 10..Just recently I have found that when I open a folder on my desktop which opens in maximized mode, and then go ahead and click to restore the window to a smaller size, instead of doing so, the window restores to the width of the three buttons at the top (minimize, restore, close) and then the file explorer window crashes and freezes for a few seconds, my screen goes black for a few seconds, then I am returned to the desktop, where the window has closed.Is this a sign of hard drive corruption?

Aug 11, 2015On Friday, I updated my HP Envy 20 to Windows 10. Once the update was finished my computer started up fine, however, my antivirus software (AVG) said there was an update and I needed to restart. I did so and after the restart and HP logo screen I had a black, but luminescent screen. After a maybe ten minutes of the screen staying like this, I held the power button down to turn the computer off and then restarted it with no problems. I turned it off Friday night normally and it ran normally all day Saturday. Sunday when I turned the computer on the power light came on and I could hear the fans turn on, but the screen remained black. Just black, not even a luminescent black like when I did the antivirus restart. I tried a hard restart like before but nothing changed. I left the computer on like that for around an hour and nothing changed. Figuring it was maybe a heat issue, I opened up the case and dusted the fan and the heat sink but the problem remains. I posted this problem on the HP support board a few days ago and have heard nothing.

Jul 31, 2015I just installed Windows 10, but every time I start up the computer, it will show a black screen before getting to the login screen and then the computer will restart by itself after about 5 seconds.
It does this over and over again.
Some things I've tried:
- I have multiple monitors, so I tried disabling the other in BIOS. Didn't work.
- I tried booting from the integrated GPU rather than my NVidia GPU. Didn't work.
- I unplugged my second monitor. Didn't work.
- I updated my NVidia driver through safe mode. Didn't work.

Nov 8, 2015I recently upgraded to window 10 from window 7 with iso file. I didn't had internet access then, but my window run successfully. Later, when i tried to attach another display with Laptop it did not detect it. So, i installed the windows updates. But after installing i was unable to boot into windows. A black screen with blinking cursor appears right after the Dell Logo. I am only able to go into bios setup by pressing F2, no safe mode option. I tried making a bootable Pen drive for repair but even it wasn't detected. I already change the boot priority in bios menu. Therefore i am unable to fresh install the window as laptop cd drive is not functioning from quite some time.

Aug 9, 2015I recently upgraded my PC from Windows 8 to 10. Now all Windows and application borders are colorless and my taskbar is black. I have used Personalization to change it back to blue borders and a transparent taskbar just as in Windows 8. However, nothing changes. I contacted Microsoft support who remotely accessed my PC and attempted to make my desired changes. Microsoft support was unable to fix the problem and promised me they would submit a fix request. At this time I have not heard back from Microsoft.

Aug 9, 2015I installed desktop gadget for my win 10 and for some weird reason when I am in dota 2 menu and then go back to desktop (windows button or alt+tab) my gadgets (default windows gadgets) calendar, weather and CPU&RAM meter turns black like there is only buttons on right top side of it... but when I move across weather gadget with cursor it just clear itself rest two are black calendar complete and under CPU&RAM meter is something like black panel and when I press button for changing size it fix itself .

Oct 7, 2015I used to see icons on my desktop and today, they disappear altogether. There is a side bar you work with and I don't feel comfortable.
The screen is black and if I right click on screen, it does not work and nothing is coming up to chose. When changing screens, I see glimpse of icons on the desktop momentarily.
So, my true desktop screen seems to be covered by this new black screen with left side bar.

Also, the context menu for right clicking in the taskbar turned black in the background. Not sure what changed and how to make things the way I remember.

Nov 23, 2015I have an issue which has been going on since beta win 10. If i have a minimized window open on the desk top I can not view it unless i minimize all other windows. It seems once my cursor crosses the top of the taskbar the window I am trying to get to closes, only way to get to it is to minimize all other windows and then I got get to it and then click on it? Same thing if I want to change the volume if I click on the taskbar the volume window will close once the cursor crosses the top of the taskbar? If i right click on the volume icon then I get the volume mixer and I am able to get to it to adjust? I keep thinking this is a bug that will get fixed, but never does.

Aug 26, 2015Since I upgraded to 10 I have an issue that occurs when I have multiple windows open; when I click the taskbar to switch program to something that is already minimised or in the background, such as a new settings screen, or any other screen which doesn't automatically maximise to full screen resolution, it will just disappear behind all other open windows. So for example, if I have chrome open and want to go to steam (or anything either unopened, minimised or in the background) I would click on the program in taskbar, the screen will flash up - but as soon as I move my cursor towards it (ie away from the taskbar), the screen that is already open will take priority and send the new screen to the back. This is rather frustrating and I've never had this problem before.
I'm not sure whether it is a taskbar problem or a window priority issue? But, I just can't seem to fix the issue.
To temporarily solve it, I have had to minimise all windows to get to the new window that I want - as it will just go to the back (unless I either quickly move my mouse to it, or if the screen is maximised and at the top already) and this isn't ideal.

Aug 12, 2015My Windows 10 PC seems to be working OK but I notice that between the Windows 10 splash screen and the user sign on page there's a period of time when the screen simply goes black. The system does get to the sign on page but black screens freak me out a bit...
Also when I log off I'm seeing the same thing. With Windows 10 when I shut down there's a brief period when the screen is simply black and I'm now having to rely on the sound of my machine turning off vs. the visual queues that I had under Windows 7.

Aug 15, 2015Edge is a great browser! However one thing I really miss from IE is having my favorites sidebar always visible at all times. With Edge you have to select it EACH TIME and pin it to the window display. This becomes a real pain and seems unnecessary. Is it possible to configure the favorite's sidebar to be always on by default? A real extra would be to have it on the left hand side again like IE which seemed to have this facility/capability just right. The horizontal favorites across the top is useless because so few are visible. (No luck with other forums) else I'm going back to IE.

Aug 7, 2015Just got Win 10 and if I have many windows open there is no distinction between which are active and which aren't. Before the active window would have a colored toolbar at the top while the inactive windows would be colorless or white. I've went into settings, personalization and color...turned the first one off and the other two on then selected yellow but still the active windows aren't getting the yellow across the top to show they are active.
