On Windows 10 I have an issue of the 'blank icon' being black on my desktop.
I just don't get it.. I have tried clearing my thumbnail cache, all the 'blank icon' options, made my own icon, and have been scouring the internet.
Just installed 10240 or TH1 and I am still unable to specify a network location for the background pics. If this is a bug, I can't believe they haven't fixed it.

View 5 RepliesI was able to do this in Win 7 however not having it anymore I can't figure out how I did it. In explorer the library icons on the left pane have the actual folder as a submenu item, that is if you expand a library you have to expand the actual folder to see the subfolders. I want the library icon to be the actual folder, and not have to expand it twice.

View 1 RepliesIf there a way to make the button to peak at the desktop (to the right of the notification area) bigger? It seems like it's about 1/2 the size (or less?) than it was in Windows 7. Is there a way to make that bigger again? I've currently got a "Show Desktop" button on the taskbar, but I'd rather just use the one by the notification area.

I have a custom image I'd like to use, but it gets rendered with a black background and parts get cut off by the circle.

I've tried Winaero Tweaker but I've only managed to get it to change my explorer accent colour - the taskbar stays stubbornly black.

View 2 RepliesIs as title says. Looking for a way to make the slideshow feature shuffle my photos when I play them, as opposed to playing through them in the order they sit in the folder. Win 7 had this option, and It was easily accessible. I may be being an idiot and missing it in front of my face, but I cant find it.

One thing I have noticed, that I can't seem to change... is how you set it so that icons in the start bar, go full sized once you open them? I liked that feature in Win7, as it was quicker to view what was open (without having to "read" the icons to work out what was what)

1. Make TitleBars, StartMenu, TaskBar and so on, keep the same color in example the default black.
2. Make Tiles keep a color in example blue. Like in Windows 8.1.
That is, I want to keep ALL THE DAFAULT COLORS but also make title bar black.
how to make my Origin Tile show as the default colour, as I've not touched anything and it's gone black since I updated Windows 10.
View 6 RepliesI've got a Lenovo Desktop that was upgraded from 8.1 to 10 just after the release. I have a Toshiba Laptop which I upgraded from 7 to 10 about a month ago. Occasionally, the desktop screen for the desktop would be the default desktop image for the Toshiba laptop with "Toshiba" in the lower right corner.
Last night I performed a clean install of 10 on my Laptop. I went to bed and let the laptop work the updates as I was sleeping. When I woke up the Lenovo, again, the desktop showed the Toshiba default image rather than the one I had changed it to previously.
I had researched the issue but only after making this post is when I realized that all accounts under the same Microsoft ID will sync, including the desktop personalization. Not exactly a feature that I like. I'd like to turn that feature off.
I have one or two Folders that I just cannot seem to get to appear on my Desktop. They show in the Files listing just fine, the way they should. Nothing that I can think of is anything special about them.
Also, in their Path, the last item is Desktop. If I create a shortcut, and put the shortcut on the Desktop, clicking on it works just fine. So, I imagine that they certainly should ?
I have read elsewhere that installing Windows 10 top of Windows 7 results in a windows.old folder, which does seem to exist on my computer.
Instead, I have, on the desktop, a folder, Windows 7, which seems to contain many of the files, etc., perhaps all such data, that were in Windows 7, such as all of the folders under Documents. I just looked at Documents in the Windows 7 folder, which even shows a file that I put into Documents in Windows 10 on 3August2015. In fact, looking at the folder,it looks just like what I see when I use the Windows 10 File Explorer from the icon on the task bar.
For some reason, the File, View, etc... menus are invisible in Corel Draw X5. If I mouse over them I can see the text.

When clicking Cortana, this happens: [URL]. She doesn't open.
When clicking the start menu: [URL]. It only gets highlighted on mouse over. Doesn't work. Right clicking it though, work with the menu as expected.

I just got a folder looking icon on my desktop and i cant delete it . A screenshot snap is on drop box link below.
It cant be archived or move to recycle bin or other folder, but can only be pin to Quick Access in explorer. Tried to delete from cmd prompt but not showing in folder list of hidden or system file.

My network is really simple. A win10 laptop and a win10 desktop. The desktop has a couple of hard drives and the laptop needs to see one of them.
At various times it's all been good but then something mysterious happens and we're back to square one.
So I've set up a homegroup and both computers belong to itI've set up sharing so that the homegroup can read/writeI've added my husbands email address as a user on the desktop and accepted the invitation so that it doesn't show as pending
Yet, when I go to the laptop I can see the homegroup and the two computers that are in itI can see the network and the same two computersIf I click on the drives I get a no-permission error
After upgrade to windows 10 (from 8) I notice that my "active" desktop folder is C:UsersTempDesktop I restart my computer and now my desktop is C: Users "myUser"Desktop.The problem is - that C:UsersTempDesktop folder with all of my sub-folders completely gone.What can I do? Is those folders are hides anywhere?

View 3 RepliesI am encountering a strange problem and I don't know what is causing it. When I turn on my pc, the calendar and mail app is visible and pinned in the start menu. I opened Mail app, started using my PC. After a while clicked start menu to open an application and I noticed the calendar and mail app is gone. So I searched both apps and tried to pin it back to the start menu but when I right click, the only option I have is "Unpin from Start" which means it is there but invisible and there pinned location in the Start Menu is blank and there's nothing to click on.
View 1 RepliesThat's what it looks like when I right click on the desktop. I also can't copy/paste between applications and lots of stuff is unresponsive e.g. buttons in some applications. I can't even install anything because the buttons are unresponsive.
It all started after the most recent Windows upgrade. I uninstalled the update and that seemed to fix a few applications but all the above is still broken.
