View 9 Repliesone of the pc's with Windows 10 on, when opening settings has a gray background instead of white and it seems i cannot alter this. change this background?
View 3 RepliesI am using Win X Pro. I just noticed that I could not change the desktop background. It says "Some settings are managed by your organisation". I am the only one using this PC and there is no other account. I can change the colours, lock screen and themes.
View 4 RepliesCannot change background image on Windows 10, and not because I don't know how. It simply is not working!
View 9 RepliesWhen I go to Settings -> Personalisation -> Background and try to change my wallpaper to one of my own pictures nothing happens. When I choose one of the Windows pictures (that one of the guy running along the beach with those big rocks in the background for example) again, nothing happens. The only thing I can do is change it to another solid colour.
Bizarrely, on my wife's account (we're both Administrators) she can change the wallpaper to whatever she wants.
I would like to change my background folder
On W7 it was possible with W7FBC
On W8 with start 8
On W10 i found start 10 but we can't change that

This is complicated.
My colleague has pranked me at work, by somehow fixing my desktop background so that I can't change it.
I'm running W10 32bit home edition.
I've tried gpedit.msc - not available on home version.
I've managed to change it to a solid colour, but i can't change the picture.
I have found ways for windows 7 and 8.1 but they are not supported on windows 10, nor do they work. I am Kind of a neat freak on my computer and am planning on using this to organize.
View 4 RepliesWhat happened to the "Change background image every: xx minutes" option that's been around since Vista? I can change themes, backgrounds, etc., but no control how often the background changes. So much for another customization?
View 4 RepliesHow do I change the desktop background slideshow? Or where is the theme pictures settings located? On windows 7 they were on the same page, not so in win 10, they seem to be hidden...
View 3 RepliesThe advice given (to go to "personalization" and turn "show color on Start, Task bar, action center and title bar" to "on" and pick a color) does not change the background color of the task bar, which remains black regardless of this setting. how can you change the background color of the task bar from black to something that will actually contrast with the icons? Black is a terrible color; some of the icons are barely visible with that setting.
View 9 RepliesI recently did a clean install of Windows 10 which seemed to go well, but for some reason I am unable to change my desktop background, though the normal Personalization options. I can, however, go to the "Solid" option and change it to a different color. Also, if I download a wallpaper it only gives me the option to set it as the lock screen, and not the desktop.
A little background: This is the second PC that I've installed Win 10 on. The first was a newer laptop and I just went with the express upgrade from 8.1 and had no problems. The other laptop (the one I'm asking about) is a little older and I decided to do a clean install from Win 7 using the Windows 10 Media option downloaded to a USB drive. Also, when comparing the two desktops I notice that this second laptop has "WIndows 10 Home" displayed in the lower left hand corner of the desktop (as if it's a different version of Window 10, but when I went to the Win 10 update it says that No updates are required). After thinking that maybe the OS didn't install correctly the first time I went to Recovery and decided to Reset my computer, but that didn't change anything.
After researching this issue, the first thing I checked was the "Ease of Access" Remove Background Images was unchecked. Beyond that, I can't seem to find anything on the web that seems to address this.
FYI, basic system specs:
Sager Laptop (don't recall exact model)
CPU: i7-2760QM
GPU: Nvidea GTX 560M SLI
RAM: 8GB
Is there an easy way to change the Login screen background?
View 4 RepliesI would assume people may want to tinker with their logon screen background picture. (an example of this screen, to clarify, is below)
This is the picture that is behind the logon screen, which is by default the Windows 10 hero wallpaper. If you would like to change this image to your accent color, here's how
WARNING: To do this option, you will have to mess with registry settings. As you may know, registry settings influence the way Windows works on your machine. Therefore, if you do something incorrectly, you may have to reinstall Windows. Proceed with caution.
The first step is to open Run (+R) and type regedit
Once Registry Editor opens, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftWindowsSystem. There, make a new DWORD value called DisableLogonBackgroundImage and set the value to 1 to change it to your accent color. If you ever wish to revert this change, setting it to 0 will revert it back to the 'Hero' image.
Restart and your logon screen background will now be your accent color that you have selected. If it changes, the color of your logon screen will change as well.
Can change FileExplorer (windows explorer) background from white to Grey color. Currently I am using windows 7 , and I it we can install third party themes. I use this theme [URL] ... But it do not work on windows 8 and 10.
(For 8.1 I used [URL] ... But both also not works on windows 10).
I also tried regedit methods to change values of Colour and Desktop/Colours , but nothing works. We developers have to work continuously on laptop and with white background our eyes hurts. Also I use Pangolin Screen brightness software to dim brightness.
I was wondering where the login screen background image is stored? I'm trying to change it to a different image

I Need Change From White Colour to Grey. Can I Do This On Windows 10 ?
I don't like the default one-color background when startingshutting down WIndows. I don't mean logon screen nor the lock screen. I mean this:
Is there any way to replace this one-color background with any wallpaper?
I am pretty good with computer but I have ran in to a problem I just can't fix. The operating system will not let me change the lock screen background mode from Windows Spotlight to something else. I have searched for an hour without any luck. My laptop has had a history of breaking down. The first time was hard drive failure and I have lost all my data. The second time I needed to repair was when the computer got so slow it was unusable and eventually got blue screens at boot And I needed to reinstall the operating system. When I try to go to edit the setting it is grayed out and on the top it says Some settings are managed by your organization" I am not apart of any organization and I am the only user on the computer with Administrator privileges.
View 9 RepliesNavigating to Settings > Personalization > Themes > Theme Settings, we get to the Personalization window for Themes same as on Win 7. In the window it states "Click a theme to change the desktop background, color, and sounds all at once."
However, the icons normally at the bottom of the window to change those settings are missing. All I can do is save the theme (right click).
(window capture missing icons)
(these are the icons I'd expect to see)
I was just wondering if there was a way to customize the background of the screen where you are prompted to enter the background
View 1 Repliessuddenly, by opening windows it presents only the new format (see annexe).how can I return to the previous version, showing the entire elements onto the screen
View 2 RepliesI've been trying to make my desktop background be a slideshow of images rather than just 1 image. I want the images to change frequently, so I have it set to change every 1 minute.
However, after setting up the slideshow last night, the same image has remained my background for several hours, not changing once. I've double-checked the folder that is linked for the slideshow, and it does contain more than one image - in fact it contains 18 images.
I've attached a screenshot of the Background Settings screen. How can I get the slideshow to cycle through the images?
the background for the windows 10 photo app is black, and that is bad for transparent png and gif files. i normally wont use it but the desktop photo viewer is giving trouble is there a way i can change the background color to white?
