View 4 RepliesLately I have been facing this problem of not being able to create new folder. The "New" option in the right click is missing and I am not able to create anything new.
View 9 RepliesButton for new folder exists but does nothing. This is a new problem and system restore to oldest restore point did not work. Have run scf scan without errors. Have confirmed permission to modify parent file folder. I can rename existing folders. Have run Bitdefender & CCleaner registery cleaners.
View 14 RepliesI use Windows 10 Mail on my PC. I simply cannot find the way to create new folders where I can move my e-mails according to different subjects/topics from the Inbox. I think Mail is OK.

View 1 RepliesI have downloaded windows 10 successfully. However, when I try to create a 'new folder' in Documents, the Documents window puts out a message "not responding".
I can create a 'new folder' on my desktop and put it in the Documents folder, but I cannot use the "new folder" icon in the Quick Access bar to create one in the Documents folder itself. Am I failing to see something I should have done?
It works fine, but suddenly today the New menu disappeared from my click menu when I click on any blank place in a folder. What's worse, if I click the New Folder button under the File Explorer top menu, there is no response. In the end, I can only create new folders using command lines but not by the usual shortcuts.
View 3 RepliesI want to know whether I can create a Windows 10 USB boot disk from a folder in my PC(NOT an ISO). The folder contains all the necessary setup files for the the installation that were created by the Windows 10 media creation tool.
View 1 RepliesThe option to create a compressed zip folder is gone when I right click and then put my cursor on "New".
Here a pic of the problem ....
I bought a new Microsoft surface pro 3 It originally had windows 8 installed on it.From the instant that I unboxed it, turned it on, and accessed Wi-Fi connection, there were almost ALWAYS errors when installing certain plugins or programs from the internet. Instead the errors always came with the message can not create temp folder archive etc. or something of the like.
I downloaded Window 10 because it looked comfortable. No change; none of the programs that I download from internet explorer, edge, or google chrome work. No plugins, and sometimes no important pop-ups either.Another problem... which I have a feeling is related... I downloaded Microsoft office too. All of it worked except for Microsoft Word. Every time I try saving something, regardless of which button I click on, there is absolutely no response and none of the files are saved...
I looked into the internet for answers and there weren't that many. One video on youtube seemed to have a solution. It advised that I go into some advanced settings under the properties of my pc and click on environment settings and... do something I don't really understand. The instructions were:
User variables for {userName} and change the TEMP and TMP vars values to "c:/temp or something like that...
This PC was brand new, and yet these errors surfaced from the beginning and I still can't fix it.
I have Windows 10 Home 10240 build upgraded from Windows 8.1 Core. I have a inconvenient problem, if i create a new folder on the desktop. Right-Click -> New -> Folder, seems that explorer.exe crashes. Everything disappears desktop icon, taskbar. After 1 or 2 seconds everything comes back to normal and folder is created.
View 1 RepliesAbout a week after Clean Installing Windows 10 from an upgraded version on my laptop, I noticed that i wasn't able to Create a New Folder anywhere, from Desktop to File Explorer Directories. Nothing! Even when i try clicking the "New Folder" Button in the Ribbon or pressing Ctrl+Shift+N it still won't work. In the Context Menu (Right Click), I can't find the "New" Button too. Is this normal for Windows 10 after being installed? Do i have to install something (maybe an update) for the "New" to appear in the Context Menu?
View 9 RepliesWhen I create a shortcut to file in Program Files, the target path for that shortcut will be to Program Files (x86), even though the start in path will be correct. Furthermore, even though the target path is incorrect and no icon is displayed for the shortcut, the shortcut still works.Shortcuts to items placed in the Program Files folder by an installer do not have this problem. It is only for files that are manually placed in the Programs Files folder by me the user, i.e. copy and pasted there.
View 3 RepliesHere's a way to create a pretty convincing looking Menu using your Taskbar.Try it out yourself.(click on the image 2 or 3 times if you find it hard to read). You'll have to loose the Search Box and Taskview as well.
View 2 RepliesHow can I create custom tiles? Can it be done within Win 10, or does it require third party software? Links?
View 1 RepliesI have tried creating a folder in every known location to get an additional folder to show up in the start menu so I can throw some games and what not under it..I've tried creating a folder named "Games" in the following:
C:ProgramData
C:UsersmynameAppDataLocal
C:Program Files
C:Program Files (x86)
C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms
Apparently the 0-Z list doesn't read any of these directories, but I am baffled that my Nvidia driver created a folder and it shows up under "N" just fine...I'm assuming this is some type of regedit but I have no clue where to begin.
Is there a known way to create your own custom shell folders or "special folders?" Default shell folders are Documents, Pictures, Downloads, etc. The benefit of a shell folder is you can place it in a Users' Personal Folder, but have the location actually be in another location (even another drive).
An example of a program adding a shell folder would be Zune with "Podcasts."
A shell folder can be identified by its "Location" tab in the properties menu.
I'd like to create my own shell folders to things like "Books" or "Programs" etc. with kinds of files I make. Sort of like a library.
My friends and I have a secret language and I was wondering if it's possible to create a custom language pack.
View 7 RepliesMy taskbar is filling up pretty quickly and I wanted to know if there is a way (if possible without 3rd party apps) to create custom jump lists for the taskbar in the latest version of Windows 10. Here's a crude Paint job of what I had in mind....
View 9 Repliesif it's eve possible, to remove 'Cut' and 'Create shortcut' from the context menu for files and folders?!
View 2 RepliesIn W7 I have created folders in the start menu so I can organize by topic. I can't figure out if/how to do that in W10.
View 9 RepliesI recently upgraded my windows 7 ultimate copy to Win 10 pro (64 bit) and with the upgrade i lost the most beloved tweak that i was using earlier in Win 7. And that is the ability to have custom backgrounds on folders instead of plain white ones.
The Ave Folder actually works but only when the properties boxwindows is opens up for any folder. The properties box has the custom new tab called "folder background" and i think this is why it activates the feature for a brief time until i decide to close the box. Closing the properties windowox then disables it and i then lose my folder background.
I just upgrade windows 10 from windows 7 and I'm customizing some default folder to match my settings in my windows 7. I got a little problem and it's really annoying me. Here is the screenshot of my This PC
as you can see, I change the windows default folder for downloads to drive F:. How can I make it to show the drive name instead of drive letter? I used the same steps I do in windows 7 and it was working, but in windows 10, it change the download folder to drive letter.
I have many folders with photos and want to run a slideshow of all of them but when I choose 'Pictures' Windows 10 will not show anything. I have to pick one folder. That folder will run nicely, but I would like to include ALL folders.
