Customization :: Setting Different Backgrounds For Dual Monitors
May 26, 2015If you have a dual monitors and want to set a different background for each. You don't need third party program to set them. Here's an easy way:
Copy the background images to: C:WindowsWebWallpaperWindows
Use CTRL key for multiple selection to select both backgrounds.Right click on one background->Set as desktop background
You should have a separate background for each monitor.
The background images will be stored under:
%USERPROFILE%AppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsThemes
as:
Transcoded_000 and Transcoded_001 without extension
If you want to swap the images, just rename 0 to 1, 1 to 0. Sign out and sign back in or right click on desktop and select: Next desktop background

Aug 8, 2015Upgraded to Win 10 (from Win 7) on Friday, very impressed. The only problem I'm having is that I have two monitors operating in dual mode and previously used to run a slideshow as the background and the same photo was shown on both monitors. In windows 10 for some reason the slideshows photos are not the same.
I've updated graphic card drivers etc and been through all setting I can think of, but just cannot synchronize things.

Mar 21, 2015I have a dual monitor setup:
- Main screen, where I work using different applications in different virtual desktops.
- Secondary screen, where another application constantly running in the foreground (e.g.: showing a movie, youtube videos etc.), which I need to be always shown.
When I create multiple desktops in my main screen, Windows also creates the same desktops in the secondary screen.
When working, I alt-tab to move between main screen's applications, which potentially changes desktops.
The problem is that the same desktops are changed in my secondary screen; therefore, my application stops showing when changing desktops.
I was wondering if I can resolve this somehow. For example:
1) Disabling virtual desktops for my secondary monitor specifically
2) Copy application to all desktops (therefore, it shows regardless of which desktop I am switching)

Screensaver Does Not Work With Dual Monitors
Jan 22, 2016I've read pretty much all of the solutions offered up the the screensaver issues in Windows 10 [and the variety of issues indicates Microsoft has some work to do], but none of them seem to work for me.
I don't care about saving my monitor, or watching pretty pictures, or saving power. I need the screensaver for security reasons to lock the screen after an unattended time period. Apparently nobody else uses this feature, or if they do they haven't posted the problem on the web, or I simply haven't found it.
1. This is a clean install of Windows 10 Home. The dual monitors were installed AFTER the initial install, and the screensaver worked fine with that configuration. I'm now using an Nvidia Quadro NVS 295 graphics card with two identical Dell monitors. The latest driver is installed (dated Oct 2015).
2. I have no HID devices other than a wireless mouse and keyboard. I have tried a different mouse and keyboard to no effect. I have tried disabling the HID devices one by one to no avail.
3. If I disconnect one monitor at the computer, the screensaver still doesn't come on.
4. I have the screensaver set to "Blank", and the preview function works perfectly well, blanking both monitors.
No further way to try, other than buying a new graphics card and seeing if that solves the problem. The fact that the preview function works dissuades me from thinking the problem lies with the card.
Moving Windows Across Screens With Dual Monitors
Dec 2, 2015Is there a way to get rid of the feature that means that i have to move my mouse quite drastically to get a window from one screen to the next?
With windows 10 they have given us the ability to snap a window to a side, that's great but when i want to move it to the other screen, its gets irritating, how do i get around this? I just want to disable the snapping of windows when my mouse goes near the middle of my two monitors, it was good on windows 7. I hope i have explained this correctly, its quite difficult mind.
No Screensaver Or Sleep Mode On Dual Monitors

Jul 31, 2015I've done some looking up on what the issue is, and I believe that it's something commonly referred to as "sticky corners". There is a few pixels space on the bottom and top of the screen (between both monitors) which does not allow mouse movement from one screen to the other. To get the mouse to the other screen, I need to drag the mouse down about a centimeter and then it moves across to the equal position on the other screen (not the very top, meaning that it's not a scaling issue). I drag windows around constantly, and they keep getting stuck in the top or bottom of the screen, and it's quite distracting.
As you see in the screenshot that I've attached, the small red line is where the mouse simply refuses to move across, regardless of the speed of the mouse.
This was apparently a feature in Windows 8.1 as well, which there was a solution for by messing around in the registry editor, however this is no longer the case in Windows 10 (the files which used to be edited are no longer there in 10).
How to disable these "sticky corners" ...
Customization :: 2 Monitors Only One Background Picture?
Apr 30, 2015With the latest build 10074 there doesn't appear to be a way to use two different background pictures on two monitors. This feature has been available since Windows 7, perhaps earlier. I have provided that information to Microsoft.
Using a horizontal inversion on one picture makes a nice desktop background.
Customization :: Using Screen Saver With Two Monitors
Sep 9, 2015My setup uses two monitors. I am running a screen saver (a very old one by Firehand which works fine) but I can't get it to work the way I want with the two screens. At present when it kicks in, the displayed image alternates between the two monitors. One displays the new image and the previous one on the other monitor goes to blank screen and so on.
I am sure that when I used it with Windows 8.1 it worked as I want - each image remains on screen until it is replaced. i.e. I have the current image on one monitor the and past image on the other, then it switches and a new image appears on a monitor with the previous image remaining on the other one.
A possibly related issue is that although I have the desktop image set to change every few minutes it doesn't do so and I have a different image on each monitor (which is fine). But why won't they change?

Customization :: Change Start Menu Location Based On Number Of Monitors
Dec 17, 2015I have two desktops (work and home) with more than one screen, on these computers, I would like my start menu on the far right side of the right screen.
However, on computers with only screen (my laptop), I would like my start menu along the bottom.
Is there any way to set up an IF statement that places the start menu in a location based on the number of screens or, worst case, stop that property from updating across computers?
Customization :: Dual Monitor Wallpaper Settings To Be Same?
Aug 1, 2015I've got a dual monitor PC running the now released windows 10. Everything about it went very smoothly, right up until I tried to change the background. At first both screens had the same image (that cool windows 10 logo with light beams picture). But of course that wasn't sufficient, so I changed it. I liked that windows 7 would rotate my wallpapers with pictures in my photo library. So I dug in and made the necessary changes, and.... then I hit an odd snag.
The two screens were showing different background pictures. At first it was cool! I was blown away. I never even thought about changing the wallpapers separately! But, I'm a creature of habit. And having that second monitor with a different wallpaper was getting on my nerves. Now, I know I can change both wallpapers to be the same picture. BUT, I'm greedy and want it all! I want it to also show the slideshow of all the photos.... one at a time, on both screens, at once.
On a side note, whenever I right click the desktop and ask windows to skip ahead to the next desktop background, it does one screen only. I have to do it again and then the other screen will change. If they HAVE to be separate, I'd at least like some control over them.
Customization :: Dual Monitor Wallpaper - Different Resolutions
Oct 21, 2015I have Dual Monitor but both have different resolutions.
Main one is 1920 x 1080 and other one is 1280 x 1024.
I want to set the same wallpaper on both but this is how it looks:
It's displaying nicely on the second monitor with black on the top and bottom.
But on the first one there's black on left and right of the screen. This is with every wallpaper I use. I am using the "Fit" style for Wallpaper.

I would go to personalization and all my pics would have a little checkbox to choose if I wished. I am unable to do that now and so my slideshow is doomed to the same pics forever. Oct 20, 2015I don't know if I changed a setting or what but I can't get Windows to show me the Lock Screen. I have it like this. I put it in Slideshow with a custom folder where I keep all my wallpapers. is a slideshow lockscreen settings in one side, a normal savescreen setting in another. If I had to set my screen to turn off after a certain time or not. I just want the frickin lockscreen to start whenever, let's say, 30 min have passed. Only thing I get it's my screen turned off.

Feb 10, 2016I was sick of windows and decided to switch to linux. I found amazing linux distribution which is called Elementary OS Freya and looks just amazing. Really nice and minimalist. Unfortunately I'm an 3D artist so I'm a software dependent so I can't use linux because the support for programs is horrible. Even though I managed to get Maya working on linux I've got wrong drivers for my AMD graphics card. I tried downloading drivers from AMD web page, but those drivers made my computer to crash and I had to restore linux and try again. So I was pointless because even graphic drivers wasn't working at all, so I had to switch back.
Windows is really good, stable and reliable OS and the program support is amazing, but I'm just got tired of all the same looks. It's just so annoying. Lets take file explorer for example. There's a lot of buttons and everything that nobody's using and it just looks horrible and you have to customize shit out of it to get rid of all that stuff. So as you may have understood I'm trying to make Windows 10 look more simple, minimalist and eye-catching. Linux has this amazing thing that you can change desktop environment. For example Freya OS is basically Ubuntu, but with different desktop environment. Ubuntu's using Unity and Freya's using Pantheon. And the thing is, that if you want to get the looks of Freya OS on Ubuntu you don't have to reinstall your OS. You just install different desktop environment and boom, as soon as you restart your pc Ubuntu loads Pantheon instead of Unity. I thought why Windows couldn't have that kind of stuff. Well as it turns out it can and there is few desktop environments for windows that can change explorer and all the shell and use custom instead, but those look awful. Don't understand why would people even consider using those. Anyways, there is one custom desktop environment which is called LiteStep and it has some decent looking themes, but unfortunately it's kind of old so there's no support for Windows 10. I saw some people taking initiative and making it work on Windows 10, but I couldn't get it working. Well technically I could and I used it with default theme which is even worse than default Windows looks and I tried to download some custom theme and nothing worked because theme required (and all of the themes does) som additional modules. And there's thousands of those and the server was down so I wasn't able to download modules and use the theme. So it was just useless.
So now the only thing that I was able to do was to install som custom themes for windows and so on and I got it looking pretty nice, but there's only one thing left and I can't fix it. I'm using Nexus Dock and I'm having my taskbar at the top of the screen which is okay. It actually looks a lot like Freya OS which is nice. But there's only one thing that annoys me. As soon as I open some program it shows on the taskbar. How to disable that. I don't want to disable taskbar or hide it or whatever. I want taskbar to be on a top of the screen and I want to have dock at a bottom of the screen and when I open programs I don't want to see them on a taskbar.

Jul 30, 2015Just installed Windows 10 on my primary laptop and the lock screen is a solid blue (if I change my theme color, the lock screen changes too). However, I have Windows Spotlight turned on. I've tried setting a static picture or slideshow as the background. I also confirmed that the files needed for Windows Spotlight are indeed downloaded onto my computer. It just refuses to change.It's worth noting that on my secondary computer with Windows Insider builds, I have, and have been having, the same problem.
