I just did read (and do) instructions about removing OneDrive from the left explorer-pane. (and the quick-access pane) after reading a few hour, with instructions it was done in 2/3 mins
but now the question.. since this is about DropBox and not about OneDrive, I want to remove the DropBox item from the left-explorer-pane, but i do not want to remove (uninstall) dropbox...
For Pinned items in Quick Access in Win10 Navigation pane, a gray Pin icon is displayed beside each item.
Can it be removed or made transparent with Reshacker?
Note: I wanted to keep the Quick access feature so that I can still drag and drop in Nav pane.

This avoids having to deal with Ownership/Permissions issues of the CLSIDs under HKLM. So here are the files:

Got this weird issue that's started today, for some reason my navigation pane is blank....
View 3 RepliesI have this problem on my fresh Windows 10 Pro x64 installtion where the documents folder keep multiplying in the file explorer navigation pane, it sometimes appears when I'm using the file explorer or leave it open in the background for a while.The system folders (Documents, Pictures and the other system folder) are all located in OneDrive and in my case D:OneDriveDocuments.
And this is what happens when I leave the file explorer open for a while. What triggers it so it is hard to reproduce. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with it being in OneDrive but I guess not since none of the other folders are acting like this.The extra Document folders don't appear like that all at once, they appear one by one and when you wait long enough it can become like that. There are no events in the event viewer that seem to be related to this problem so nothing I can show you from there.
I've just found the cause of this problem, it caused by OneDrive syncing the folder. The moment it starts to look for changes or update changes in the folder it will multiply and keep adding more folders one bye one.

View 9 RepliesWhich registry setting allows you to open the Links (Common Places FS Folder) explorer navigation pin as a drop down, as was the default behavior prior to the quick access pin being added in Win10?
For example, the Reg below will pin the Links folder back to the Explorer Nav Pane, however since the placeholders in the Links folder are shortcuts and not actual directories, no dropdown is able to be produced in the way that Windows 8 and backwards was able to.
Quick Access unfortunately doesn't offer the ability to rename anything pinned to it.
For example, I have a shortcut in the Links folder for both Start Menu locations (ProgramData and AppData), which I've renamed to differentiate between the two, however doing the same with Quick Access pins two folders named Start Menu as pinned placeholders... obviously a programmer missed that caveat of Quick Access.

because windows 10 shows it on right hand side, but it's just taking too much of the space on my screen, it's really inconvenient when you open 2 folders and snap to sides and modify files.
all I have is 'desktop'. Everything else is under that. But all the pics I've seen of windows 10 show 'this PC' as the top level link. I would much prefer that. "desktop' ends up being twice in the tree, and removable media twice as well. Well, actually desktop is right inside my user folder too!

I've been trying to install the Dropbox desktop app and I get to a certain point and it gets stuck on a window that says "waiting for Dropbox to install" and it's not getting anywhere from there.
I am getting photos out of Dropbox (sent to me) into Windows Ex;plorer but I can't get them out of Explorer into my Pictures folder!

View 5 RepliesLately when I try to use the Microsoft Print to PDF feature in Windows 10, it is unable to save to any Dropbox folder. It creates the file but it is 0 size. I can print in any folder other than Dropbox. I can print it to my desktop then copy the resulting file to Dropbox, but unable to print directly.
This had worked in the past, but just noticed it within the last few days.
There is no error that shows up to let you know it failed either. So unless you try to open the file, or notice the 0 file size you will assume it printed ok.
This also occurs with the printer "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" so it is not just the PDF.
This only occurs with my user account. 2 other accounts on the same machine do not have the same issue. So probably permissions issue somewhere?
I'm running Windows 10 on a 12" Retina MacBook and so far it's been great, no issues, couldn't be happier.But starting this week I've been having problems with right click menu's and dropdown menu's in programs like Firefox (bookmark dropdowns), Dropbox (right clicking), and in other spots throughout the operating system.
View 2 RepliesI tried to encrypt a file located in my Dropbox account. I went to File->Properties->General->Advanced->Encrypt contents to secure data.
After I did what I did, the file had a golden locker icon attached on it. I opened my other laptop and after Dropbox updated the file to its new version, I tried to open it expecting to see nothing of use. Guess what. I could read my text file crystal clear.
How do I remove "Folders" from Windows Explorer? I use only "Devices and Drives." I see nothing in folder and search options that lets me remove "folders" from Windows Explorer. Is this customization possible?

Only after saving several files that were directed to "My Documents" (not on C: drive) did I find that I couldn't locate them. I finally found them on "quick access".
