Performance :: Error 0x800f081f When Running DISM

Nov 9, 2015

I recently updated to Windows 10 (from Windows 7) and I feel there is something wrong with the performance of my ASUS Zenbook.

I run DISM and I got the following error message:

1. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealthDISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Error: 0x800f081f

The source files could not be found. Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.

The DISM log file can be found at C:WINDOWSLogsDISMdism.log

So I run the check again with an ISO image of Windows mounted in E, but I got the same error message.

Performance :: DISM Error 0x80f001f - Use Source Option To Repair Image

Feb 3, 2016

I just completed a clean install of Windows 10 Pro...all was going fine, but I wanted to run both scf and DISM...

If SFC was not able to repair some or all of the files there are a few options including a repair install from the OS dvd, and DISM (win 8 & UP)

DISM

If you are on win 8 and up you can (and should) run DISM if SFC found errors it could not fix

From an DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:X:elevated command prompt*

Type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth . (please note the space after "dism", & "online" & "image")

If the repair is successful you may want to re-run SFC just to check.

[URL]

Have never had this issue before...but I can't seem to be able to direct DISM elevated command to a .iso file:

To run a system file check (SFC)

Go to start

Type CMD

Right click and run as Administrator

(called an elevated command prompt)

If you want to verify and repair the OS type sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and "/")

If you just want to check (verify only) the OS type sfc /verifyonly (no changes will be made using verify only)

If you get the error message "cannot find source files"you need to have an ISO file mounted and need to specify where it is located with the below command

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:X:* Where "X" is the drive letter where the ISO is located.* SourcesInstall.wim:1 /LimitAccessSimply change the "X" to the correct drive letter

If you do not have an ISO you can make one.* The instructions are here

*You may have to run this up to 3 times to fix all the problems

When you have finished it will say one of three things

Windows did not find any integrity violations (a good thing)

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and repaired them (a good thing)

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some (or all) of them (not a good thing)* If you get this message run DISM as described below..

I also have the DISM log file which I would be more then happy to upload:

Windows File Corruption Can't Be Fixed With SFC Or DISM - 0x800F081F

Aug 12, 2015

I was trying to fix a problem with my laptop after upgrading to Windows 10 which caused updates to fail. I went and looked at Microsoft support and tried using sfc and dism. Sfc /scannow found corrupt file but couldn't fix them.

Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth /Source:esd:E:SourcesInstall.esd:1 /limitaccess both came up with the error 0x800F081F.

Another issue is that my computer won't shut off completely. The screen goes blank and the hard drive light is blank after the computer turns off, but the fan and the power button is still on.

SFC And DISM Error When Trying To Fix Corrupt Windows Files

Aug 3, 2015

I ran "SFC /scannow" and got an error saying the System File Checker found errors but couldn't fix them. Afterwards I ran "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" and DISM threw the error 0x800f081f saying that the source files could not be found.

I then ran "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:H:Sourcesinstall.wim" to direct DISM to my windows 10 disk, but this also didn't work.

I don't know what to do short of reinstalling Windows, I've attached my CBS and DISM logs in a .zip file below (the CBS log was too big).

Windows Corrupted Files SFC And DISM Image Recovery Fails

Aug 2, 2015

I have been trying to fix my windows 10 corrupted files but I have been unabled to recover it. I tried every possible way of recovering using DISM commands, but to no avail. I tried also the sfc /scannow but as usual this command hardly ever fixes issues regarding corrupted files. I have tried using dism in several ways by specifying the location and the install.esd file from my usb flashdrive windows copy and even tried the health commands on powershell..still wont work. The first command I tried and for all of them I get the same error message, which looks like this:

I have been reading on the web that there is a way of specifying the packages missing via command and then download them manually..

Repair Error - USB Boot From BIOS?

Oct 25, 2015

I turned on my PC and got a Windows 10 error saying my PC needed to be repaired. I can go into the BIOS menu but I don't know what option to choose to reinstall Windows 10. I have it downloaded from the official website on a memory stick but I am thinking of buying Windows 8.1 from Amazon cause I do not like Windows 10 and want the full version. I would go with Windows 7 but I don't know what is and isn't legit on Amazon. I do not want an OEM version since I may be upgrading my PC and will want to reinstall Windows if I have to once again.

Performance :: SFC / Scannow Failed To Repair Certain Files

Feb 10, 2016

So I've done a sfc /scannow for maintenance and noticed that there were some files that could not be repaired. And instead of writing this on a old topic I made my own.

I found a batch file created by "kronckew" . The code is:

@echo off
rem delete old files
del /q %windir%logscbscbs.log
del /q c:sfcdetails.txt
rem run sfc
sfc /scannow

[Code] ....

I will upload the CBS file and the file created by this batch. I really don't want to reinstall my Windows.

I'm running on a Windows 10 Pro 64x

Option To (Reset And Keep Files) Repair Registry?

Aug 29, 2015

My question is, does the Windows 10 option to "reset and keep files" repair everything, including any broken registry things that I might have screwed up? I'm not that experienced with this, so could be a silly question.

Some background info: my computer was basically functioning normally, except for some kind of minor issues (slow downs, occasional program crashes, etc) and warnings that kept popping up in my event viewer yet I didn't really "see" the effects of most of them in everyday computer use (I'm an amateur though). This was not virus or malware related, I don't think. (I ran numerous virus scans and also used virus/malware removal, even though it didn't appear I had any, plus I have Avast and MBAM always on my computer.)

So I'm wondering if I probably screwed up the registry because I stupidly used CCleaner's registry clean-up a couple times, and have since learned I should never touch that.

I ran the Dell diagnostics to make sure it wasn't a hardware issue, by the way, and that all passed.

I had Windows 7 and did the upgrade to Windows 10. I just decided to do Windows 10's option to "reset and keep files" to do a clean install to see if that fixes these things. So I'm wondering if the registry is repaired with that kind of reset? And if it never was the registry that was the problem, will the other potential causes be repaired as well? Just want to make sure I made the right choice to reset.

Installation :: Clean Install Caused Repair Loop Error

May 30, 2015

Win 7 user here, wanting to dual boot with Windows 10 preview (on a different partition).

So I made a Win 10 usb boot disc, and it installed it fine. Played around with the new Windows for a few mins, whilst it downloaded an update, and after installing the update, it said it needs to restart, naturally. So I did.

However, since then, the PC keeps restarting, showing a Windows 10 logo, and below that is the text, "preparing automatic repair". Then it just resets, and goes in this endless loop.

Why is this happening, and how do I resolve it?

After I uninstalled catalyst control centre (because I was having problems with it). When I restarted my mouse and keyboard weren't working. So I tried a ps2 kb and mouse and this worked. I went to device manager a looked at the USB devices, all of them had a yellow warning sign next to the devices. I checked each one and they all had error 39 (missing or corrupted drivers). Windows Error Code Oxc000021a

Sep 1, 2015

I upgraded to W10 a few weeks ago from W7. All went well.

Then 2 days ago i got the windows error code oxc000021a, and the computer wouldn't start. Couldn't get into safe mode, and repair didn't work either. Really annoying. I've had to reinstall windows 7. I can still see my windows 10 old install saved under windows.old.

I don't have any option yet to re-upgrade to W10, despite putting all the updates on W7 again. What can I do to get W10 again and recover my data from windows.old?
