In order to use my VPN I've had to change my DNS address to a specific address. Problem is, whenever I reboot my computer, it reverts the DNS to the 'obtain automatically' option, and completely clears out my specified DNS address.

I then installed Ubuntu Linux, so I currently have a dual boot setup. I would like to use Windows 10 on a virtual machine in Ubuntu. Is there any way to obtain the ISO without downloading it? And either way is there a master setting somewhere (like default programs) where I can change this?
I have been using Windows 10 Pro for a good number of months now, and have had no problem with it up until last week or so. Now, whenever I reboot my computer for updates or whatnot, it will revert back to Windows 7 instead of Windows 10. Win 10 is on my SSD, and Win 7 is on my old HD that I used for storage. My boot priority in the BIOS has always been the SSD, however now, when I check the BIOS after a Win 7 boot, the only item in the Boot Priority list is the old HD, and the SSD isn't even there. If I dig around in the BIOS, I can find the Boot Menu, where my SSD is still listed, and when I click on that, it will boot back up in to Windows 10, usually until I have to reboot again.
View 1 RepliesA few days ago my Pc started to act slow and slugging so i restarted it a couple of times and on the 3rd reboot it started a disc check. Once it finished it worked flawlessly BUT it had reverted to a previously unknown restore point. Ok i thought and reinstalled some programs that were missing and went to bed. Next day i booted it up and all the programs were missing again.....The same unknown restore point was back! Curious now, i installed a program, rebooted the pc, and once again, same restore point! Just what is happening?

View 1 RepliesEvery disk and/ or folder when I tick sort by name-ascending the damn thing reverts to date modified descending if I leave said disk or folder and return. I tried "Enable_Auto_Arrange_in_File_Explorer.bat" and "Reset_Folder_View_Settings_of_All_Folders_to_Default.bat" courtesy of Brink to no avail.
Is there a way to get file explorer back to default sort (by name-ascending) for all disks, folders and sub-folders at once?
It was all fine last week and I've no recollection of playing with any settings.
Windows 10 is great and all but I've come across a really annoying issue: [URL] ....
For whatever reason, there's a lot of graphical glitching/lag while using Chrome, and only really in the address box. What's strange is I've reinstalled Chrome, reinstalled my AMD Radeon R9 280X drivers, and then gave up and tried using Chromium (which works but has weird graphical glitches on the web pages sometimes).
Microsoft Edge works fine and Chrome's web page rendering is also fine. How to fix this?
I got an email from someone I have several addresses for, with the Mail client showing just the name of the sender, not the address the mail was sent from. I want to reply to a specific address, but also to know which address the email came from in the first place. In Live Mail I could check the email details and get lots of info about the email, including what address it was sent from.

This has worked repeatedly in the past. I have no problem using the address book in Outlook and Outlook is the default mail client.
I recently installed the free upgrade from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10, but cannot remember if the last time my address book worked correctly was before or after I upgraded.

View 1 RepliesI have an email address, let's say it's tomjones@yahoo.com. Well in Windows 10, almost any time I try to type it, whether on my yahoo email or on any webpage, it comes out tomjones8@yahoo.com. At first I thought maybe I was accidentally hitting the 8 and adding it in myself, but now I'm very careful when I type it and it's like Windows auto-corrects it to that.
I may have once typed that into a form- I sometimes do just add a number onto my real email when I'm filling something out and want to make a dummy email, but it's like now Windows has decided that is my true email. It's causing serious problems because now if I ever miss that auto-correct it's done, I may send someone a bad email address. I read about turning off auto-correct and I don't want to do that, I just want it to recognize that tomjones@yahoo.com is valid.
Is there a way I can remove my email address from the user login?My user name is listed along with others who use the computer. I am prompted to enter my password. I would rather my email address not be shown.

View 2 RepliesOn my Microsoft account I use my personal email and two work emails. On Windows Phone 8.1, I can reply to emails and it will send it using the address the email was sent to. So instead of say dan@live.com, the From will read dan@work.com.

From the start when Windows started with their preview I did an registration with a email address in used in that time.
Now, running windows 10 as an insider and geregisterd with a Microsoft account and using a new Microsoft mail address, in settings my PC is saying: Get Insider Preview builds.
Now I'm thinking if I make my geregisterd email the same as the one I'm using with the Microsoft account, this will be solved.
I cannot add any accounts to my mail/calendar app in W10 on my surface Pro 3. Whenever I try to add a gmail/outlook.com account, I get the Something went wrong, error msg 0xXXXXXXX. Both with Gmail and outlook. I tried the solution MS suggested, to add it through the exchange server. But then I get a message that my account is not set-up for Azure AD.
I also tried to uninstall and reinstall the mail/calendar app. Doesn't work.
I also tried to "Turn on TLS1.0-3.0" thingy. They were already on.
All updates are installed.
It works flawlessly on my desktop with W10.
my ASUS X54C Computer, powered by Windows 10. My conversion was smooth and seemed to function well but after Chrome 47 was rolled out in late Nov/early December, I had so much trouble, that I temporarily switched to Firefox as a browser. Lately, it seemed to be functioning well and I went back to Chrome. Last week, without warning, my printer was switched to offline and running the Windows Diagnostic just produced an ERROR message. Today, I tried to install a new printer which my computer did not recognize so I called a techie. It seems that an unknown IP address had installed itself on my hard drive and things were inadvertently being shut down without my knowledge.
That has been corrected/removed (and a McAfee Virus Scan has so far not revealed any issues) but here is my question: I recently sent about 135 emails through Eventbrite - could any of those emails addresses been compromised by coming from my computer or do I assume that Eventbrite's system is rigorous enough to weed out any unwanted passengers?
I want to try Windows 10 mailapp, but I can't get it to work. I want to try with my Microsoft mail (it is a live.dk domain). When opening the maip-app first it wrote, the the mailserver did not exists. Then I typed in the microsoft mailserver used by Windows live mail program. But that don't work either. I can't find the setting to delete the windows mail-account that does not work.

Ran sfc/scannow 4 times, scanned with Norton Security and Malwarebytes and searched in vain on the web. I called Microsoft and they did a remote connection and Would not research the problem because it works in IE and would not persue the issue further in Firefox and Chrome.
