DVD Player On Laptop Won't Work After Upgrade - Configuration Information (in Registry) Is Incomplete
Dec 25, 2015
DVD player isn't recognized after my upgrade to windows 10 when I clicked on it in the device manager I got this message.. Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
Recently, sometime after getting the free upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, I noticed my DVD/CD drive was no longer being acknowledged by my laptop.
I went into Device Manager and found "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)".
I uninstalled the device(TSSTcorp CDDVDW SU-208BB,) and restarted. Nothing changed, so I tried going into registry and deleting UpperFilters and LowerFilters, and again restarted. No change. When I start my computer in safe mode, it works fine.
I also tried buying an external dvd/cd drive, plugged it in and installed drivers. It came out with the exact same error.
My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite S55-A5236.
(I even heard that uninstalling iTunes sometimes works, tried it, didn't work.)
While trying to tweak Quick Access, I somehow broke it and no matter what I do, it is stuck as shown in the screenshot. It doesn't get removed or restored with the registry keys but I am also unable to add or pin anything to it and recent files/folders are not displayed.
is there a way to restore it? (Using 64-bit Windows 10 final build)
I tried that Windows 10 registry fix, and my laptop no longer recognizes my password. It keeps saying my password is incorrect. I got the update error on both of my laptops, but I tried the registry fix on an older laptop before I tried to fix it on my main laptop. My laptop starts fine and I get to the log in screen okay, but my password is no longer being recognized as correct. Did I destroy my laptop? I followed the directions exactly.
I bought a new Lenovo G50 laptop a month ago. I updated from 8 to 10. Now, my VLC as well as my Windows Media player freeze. My Chrome and Edge also freeze with certain websites such as Facebook and news sites. Other sites are fine, such as this.
I will upgrade to Win 10 during Christmas. Would like to know if an upgrade from 7 creates a fresh/clean new registry, or does it use the existing win7 one?
I have been using the excellent reg edit tutorial on this site to disable upgrading to 10
Upgrade to Windows 10 Update - Enable or Disable in Windows 7 or 8.1
I like to go manually into the registry without downloading the app to do it, and it has worked well on one my windows 7 partitions.
However on my other windows 7 partition I cant see the DisableOSUpgrade DWORD in the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsWindowsUpdate
Why it is missing, I am sure I am logged on as admin and also have enabled hidden files and folders? The size of that partition is 60GB.
I have a Lenovo H30 desktop which was working perfectly before the windows 10 upgrade, now i can't connect to anything via bluetooth. The Bluetooth icon has disappeared too and I can no longer see it in settings.
After upgrading to Windows 10, Windows Media Player no longer will play .mp4 or .wmv videos. They played fine in Windows 7, but now, when I try to play a video in WMP, I get an error message saying that WMP is unable to play the file. I am using the latest Shark007 codecs which say are fully tested and supported for Windows 10. Is there a newer version of WMP for Windows 10, or is there something else I need to do?
When I "search my stuff" from the start menu, some files that I know to be indexed never show up in the results. And at the top of the search window, it reads: "These results may be incomplete, search is still indexing your stuff."
I've rebuilt the search index, which says it finished successfully, indexing 3000-something items, but the problem remains.
I'm planning to download gears of war on my windows 10 and with my current network connection, it will take a lot of time to download it. so I wanted to know if the store downloads are resumable after shutting the PC down.
When starting up my laptop this morning, my wireless mouse didn't work. I replaced the battery, still didn't work. Tried on another computer, the mouse did work. I went to look in device manager, the mouse wasn't detected by the laptop. I tried to connect my external harddrive, it got power but also wasn't detected by my laptop. Everything worked fine yesterday.
The camera on my Toshiba S50-B laptop worked fine when on the original Windows 8.1 but doesn't work now that I have upgraded to Windows 10. It says "Something went wrong - make sure your camera is connected and not being used by another application". I have tried everything I know of and find no reason. Is there another driver required or ...? I cannot even find the camera.
I've been attempting to use applications like Teamspeak or Google Hangouts, but whenever I try to use the built-in microphone on my laptop, it doesn't work. It did work when I was using Windows 8.1. The "update driver" button only says that it's up to date.
EDIT: I have also found that the microphone appears to be turning on and off, stopping any audio when it's on.
after upgrading to the windows 10 OS, I could not get my HDMI port to work. It does not get recognized at all and is very frustrating. I run the OS on my laptop which is a HP Pavilion. I really need it to be working. I love windows 10 but this is a big problem.
System Information Program Tool We had this I remember on 7 forums and was wondering if we had it here on 10 forums. Very handy for filling in system specs. If not I guess I'll just have to type.
I just got an update of windows 10 on my Lumia 535. I found few issues. I hope i'll get some solutions here.
Problem: When i visited into Store -> Downloads and Updates, it shows me list of all the apps which needs to update. But the worst part is that there is no way to view/find out that what is the updates available for a specific application. I tried long press on the list, but no luck.
Is it possible to show additional file information at the bottom of the file explorer like it was in windows 7? It was especially useful when the view is set to details and no thumbnails of images are shown and when i click on an image it shows a little preview at the bottom of the explorer. I added a screenshot of what i mean:
Windows finally bullied me into upgrading to Win10 from Win7 yesterday. Now some things that used to be clickable aren't. Like this little window, for example.... nothing on it responds to the mouseovers OR clicks.
