Darkened Screen After Downtime Or Using Sleep Mode
Jan 4, 2016My screen goes dark after downtime or after using sleep mode. What setting do I need to fix? I have auto sleep after 20 minutes of non-use already.

Jan 30, 2016Just installed Win10 on my 4 yr old HP G60535D. Now I have have to re-boot everytime I shut the lid. Played around with power settings, etc etc but no luck. When I first open the lid, I can hear the computer running, a slight mechanical burp of some sort, then nothing... totally blank screen. I have to hold the power button down to shut it off, then re-boot. A 1st world problem for sure, but kind of irritating.

Jan 24, 2016I had an initial fault with Windows 10 where the start button disappeared so to switch it off I used Alt/F4. That brought up a small screen that allowed me to shut down . The next time I tried it I looked at a couple of options and chose sleep mode...Big mistake. I cannot wake up the screen at all, the computor itself will switch on and off mit the power switch but nothing appears on the screen, it is blank. I have tried hitting various buttons on the keyboard to no avail.

Aug 30, 2015I have a new Toshiba C55-C5241 Laptop, which came pre-loaded with Windows 10. (See Specs)
I clean installed Windows 10 last weekend. All went very well. I just started loading programs this weekend.
I started noticing the blue screen stops yesterday. These happen coming out of Sleep. I probably never would have noticed these before because I was not leaving the machine alone long enough for it to go into Sleep. So unfortunately I do not know when the behavior started - from the beginning or after some software installation.

Blue screens are mostly "Kernal Data Inpage Error" and the more serious "Critical Process Died", both I understand to be processor related.
I did not have the presence of mind to test or check any of this early on. But I do have images of the original factory installation and of the fresh, clean install (before any customization or software installs). I do not believe that I ever tried Sleep Mode on the original factory installation.
The stops happen very consistently when on battery power, less so when plugged in. For a while I thought they did not occur when plugged in - this was not the case. They seem to be more consistent when manually going into sleep, not so much when it goes into sleep from Power Settings.
All of the drivers in the clean install were the same as the drivers in the factory installation (at the time I finished). I did not turn off automatic driver update for a few days. I will check the driver list for changes later.
Software installed (in order) : Avast!, Firefox, Office 2010 (H&S), Nitro Reader, VLC (64 bit), Handy Address Book (a prog I've been using for years), Malwarebytes, CCleaner (never run), and Winamp. I am thinking of restoring the clean install image today (start over). Just to see if the behavior started then.

Sep 26, 2015My laptop, running Windows Ten from a clean install, has issues with the sleep function. About once a day, when I either put the computer to sleep or when it does it on its own, the screen will go black but the computer will not stop running. All the lights are on, the fan and disks keep running. Nothing works to turn the screen back on and my only option becomes to force a shut down.
I've tried tweaking all the power options in various ways, I've tried disabling/enabling hibernation/fast start and I've searched for an answer but I do not have one.

Aug 24, 2015I just had to do a system restore and when I at least got Windows 10 back to loading my desktop correctly, I found that now all of the Windows 10 apps are darkened, have a little circle with exclamation mark in them, and when I try to open them it says that they can't be opened. I ran sfc /scannow and no corrupt files were found. Is there a Microsoft "Fixit" or something similar or how can I restore the apps? Windows Store won't even open.

Dec 2, 2015I have a HP Envy that is only 11 months old. I installed Windows 10 not too long ago and now I am experiencing issues with the sleep mode function. I have tried many other suggestions in power troubleshooter and other "fixes", but nothing is working.
Here's the issue. When my laptop enters sleep mode, I cannot wake it up. The keyboard is unresponsive with the exception of the backlight key. No matter what I do, I cannot wake it and this includes Ctrl + Alt + Delete. The power button remains lit, but the screen remains black and will not wakeup. The only way to fix this is to hard reboot the laptop by holding the power button down until it shuts off and then reboot it.

Aug 15, 2015so im placing the computer in sleep mode sometimes it goes to sleep and then wakes up after 1 min or it just turns of the screens. i found it in the event viewer i think i turned of almost everything in device manager so that the devices can't wake the computer.

Laptop went into sleep mode after 15 minutes as it always has. But this time I couldn't wake it up. Required me to power off the unit, then power it back on. Same thing happens now each time the machine goes to sleep mode.

Jan 30, 2016Windows 10 is simply not able to enter sleep mode. Whenever I try, the monitor shuts off, but the computer power does not. When I move the mouse, the log-in screen appears (as it would when your computer comes out of sleep).I looked at Windows Event Viewer, and this is what I found for my attempt to sleep just a moment ago (Event 10016, DistributedCOM):"The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160} and APPID {9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB70 2511 C276} to the user NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool."
I went to these IDs in regedit, and attempted to change their security permissions. I received an error message saying "Unable to save permission changes on {9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB702511C276}" (or the CLSID).Looking at the above CLSID registry entry more closely, I find that it corresponds to a program called RunTimeBroker.exe. The official Windows website has instructions on how to change the permissions for this program, namely, by opening Component services, going to RunTimeBroker, opening its Properties, and adjusting its Access Permissions in the Security tab.
BSOD :: After Standby Or Sleep Mode
Jan 30, 2016I have a problem with my Asus S56C, I have frequent BSODs, but they only occur after few seconds or few minutes out of the Stand By mode. It does not happen after restarting restarting or turning on the PC. I have already tested the RAM and Hard Drives. Updating to Win 8.1 and then 10 did not change the problem or the way it happens. Since it might be a driver problem, I have tried to play a little bit with Driver Verifier but the drivers are so many that I was not able to identify only one and then I stopped because it was really too time consuming. I updated all thedrivers manually from the Control Panel, but it did not change anything. For the rest the computer is fine, I sent it to the ASUS Service when was still under warranty and they replaced RAM, HD, DVD-ROM, but not the 24 Gb SSD. It also came back with a clean Windows 8 but it had the same problem after installing just Avast, Chrome and Mozilla (I have already uninstalled Avast and no improvements).

The MB is ASRock Z77 Professional-M with Intel i3-3220 @3.3ghz
Windows 10 Professional 64.
When I manually put the system to sleep and come back later in the day and tap the spacebar to start the system back up again, the system spins up but I have no display. It seems the only way to get it back is to power down and back up again.
Dell Laptop Won't Come Out Of Sleep Mode
Jan 16, 2016I have a Dell laptop with Windows 10 on it. When it goes into sleep mode, if I swipe the touch pad within a few seconds it will come out of sleep mode. However if I'm not at the computer so that it is in sleep mode for a while, then when I swipe the touch to pad wake it up sometimes it will wake up but sometimes it won't. If it won't wake up then I have to use the power switch to shut it off and reboot it.
