Sep 20, 2015In my new W10 I am getting 'Class not registered" reports and the link does not open, in fact it may be the majority of the new links created by the upgrade which are affected.

View 1 RepliesI keep getting the 'class not registered' error when I search the web from Cortana and when I click on various links. For example, I have just been stopped from installing Belarc Advisor by this. I have not been able to do any web searches from Cortana. What appears is a box stating class not registered and listing OpenWith.exe. I have tried using SFC and DISM, without success.
View 7 RepliesSince the most recent update in Windows 10, I have been unable to open any photographs. I get the message (depending on which photograph, of course) CUsersCherylDesktopDSCN9356.JPG Class not registered. I have tried all I know and nothing works.
View 6 RepliesI have only had Windows 10 for a few days --- mostly it is working well but a major fault is that when searching from Cortana, or clicking on a link, I almost always get the error 'class not registered'. Yesterday I was prevented from installing Belarc Advisor because of this. No searches of the web from Cortana work.I have run SFC and DISM.

View 6 RepliesI used to run a *.Bat file that cleared out old event viewer reports in W7 64, is there an equivalent file/utility that I can run for W10 64 ?
View 3 RepliesDoes SFC /Scannow really work? It always finds corrupt files in all of my systems regardless of the age of the OS install. Out of curiosity, I installed a pristine Windows 10 Pro on a clean, formatted, erased and empty(?) hard drive with no apps installed on a spare laptop . Ran SFC /Scannow and it reported corrupt files.
View 2 RepliesMy computer company messed up on installation of windows 10. Today, I found out that the registered owner's name is wrong (besides and corrected admin account). This is not the same as the computer name. I really hate doing registry things, but is that the only way to change and if so, how to do so safely.
View 8 RepliesIf I go to the network and sharing center on one of the computers on our home network it reports that it is not connected to a network, but this system can see other computers on the network and access the internet. The other computers cannot see this system, however. This system has an older X38 motherboard with an E8400 processor, but the initial in-place upgrade from Windows 7 had no problems at all.
I didn't notice the problem until I realized that about two weeks of backups across the network had failed. I have tried the repair tools in Windows 10 and have uninstalled and reinstalled the network adapter without success. I was hoping that the problem would be fixed by installing the recent big windows update, but windows update reports that it cannot connect even though I have internet access.
How or where can I change my registered email address for windows 10 preview?
From the start when Windows started with their preview I did an registration with a email address in used in that time.
Now, running windows 10 as an insider and geregisterd with a Microsoft account and using a new Microsoft mail address, in settings my PC is saying: Get Insider Preview builds.
Now I'm thinking if I make my geregisterd email the same as the one I'm using with the Microsoft account, this will be solved.
Noticed recently that my Weather Live Tile only reports data when it is in medium sizing. Expanding to wide or large disables the live feature for some reason. I was wondering if this is a known issue or if it is just a setting I can modify.
View 1 RepliesI'm running Windows 10 Professional x64 build 10240 on my Lenovo X220 laptop. I've subscribed to receive Insider builds on the fast ring, but every time I check for updates I am told "Your device is up to date", and no available updates are shown.
Previously it was working fine; I was receiving regular definition updates for Windows Defender and a number of updates for Windows 10 x64-based systems. Then, a few weeks ago I was offered "th2_professional_10525" (at least, I think that was the name), but this update appeared to fail, and on rebooting the laptop I got the message "Something went wrong..." at the logon screen.
I believe build 10565 is now available on the fast and slow ring. I've changed to the slow ring but still get the "Your device is up to date" message when I check for updates.
How can I get Windows Update to recognise that a later build is available?
