View 4 RepliesI would like to know how to delete temp internet files in win 10.
View 4 RepliesI have read I guess all over the net how to delete temp internet files, I have tried everything inc CCleaner nothing seems to work, and I notice that people have written from about august 2015.
Am using a new dell xps 8900 desktop with win 10 pro, am I right to think there is no none workaround unless you reinstall win 10?
Even when using disk cleanup in admin account it will say deleted but after restarting and going back into disk cleanup they are back.Even using Windows app they come back after deletion. On another note system restore doesn't seem to work , i did a system restore and even though i got the message that system restore completed successfully after i rebooted my screen was frozen and i had to do a system refresh to get it up and running again.I have been waiting for it to delete my temp files for 8 minutes already.
View 9 RepliesI ended up using an extra 2 GB or so of hard drive space after the windows 10 install. I ran desk cleanup and removed the old windows files which was a lot. But wasn't Windows 10 supposed to free up space?
Prior to install the computer showed 241GB of 297GB used. Now it says 256GB of 297 used. And this is after windows 10 disk cleanup removed the old OS files which was something like 20GB.
Under storage use it shows
System and Reserved - 49.7 GB inside of which 42.1 GB is system files. Isn't this a lot? The rest of the 7GB under system and reserved is 3GB Virtual Memory, 3GB System Restore and 1.5GB Hibernation file
Apps and Games - 6.83 GB (I have no games and besides the stock apps, I might have just 5 apps installed chrome, vlc player, ytd, ccleaner and iTunes
Temp files - 3.98 GB and I always kept this clean with ccleaner prior to win 10 install but been scared to run it after the update because I'm waiting on more ccleaner updates to save from issues (heard some horror stories using ccleaner on win 10)
One Drive - 51 GB used - I saved movies now this is saved in the cloud not on my hard drive right?
Background. This computer I just got a week ago. I was restored back to factory 8.0 and I than updated to 8.1 and than updated to Windows 10.
I recently upgraded to windows10.at first everything was good, but now I'm facing troubles when my explorer.exe ends on it's own and in the task manager there are two temp files which use almost 95% of my cpu. i guess those temps are causing the trouble..
View 1 RepliesThe Storage "Sense" feature may or may not be working properly here...went to delete 890mb of temp files and nothing happened despite it asking me if I was sure I wanted to delete these files and apparently proceeded..but after an hour of waiting the 890mb temp files still remains.

Used to show ok, I am certain...In the BIOS when I boot the PC it shows ok approx 60-65oC
But not in the aforementioned apps....cant think why
It seems that Microsoft feels that they need to force me to upgrade to WIN 10 even though I do not need it. My system consistently flashes the WIN 10 upgrade Now box, and again last night while doing updates it decided to update to WIN 10 on its own. Needless to say, all of my files are gone. My back-up copies are no where to be found. Thus I have decided that Microsoft is no better than any other proprietary system that wants you to do what they want not what you want. Even my carbonate files that I have downloaded over and over again have been deleted. Why can I just not say no and Microsoft leave me ALONE!!!
View 1 RepliesI had a horrible time downloading the free upgrade from Microsoft for Windows 10 .I just wanted to know that my friend brings a Windows 10 bootable USB and I want to install Windows 10 on my laptop without erasing any files, could I do that?
View 2 RepliesI have been having problems with successfully updating Windows 10 for the past months where the updates failed to install. I followed some steps on deleting some registry keys under ProfileList, which according to the article were causing the problem. However, after deleting one named s-1-5-18 and rebooting, I am now not able to login to my account. I also don't have access to safe-mode for some reason. When I do the Shift-restart procedure, it takes the to the system configuration window with only one option, shutdown computer.
Alternatively, I also have Kali Linux installed (which is how I am writing this threat right now), allowing me to have full access to my Windows partition, the export file of my registry key I deleted, and I even have access to my recycle bin folder, where I can see the folder s-1-5-18 I deleted. However, I don't know the right directory of this folder to move it to or I don't know if I could just import the registry file I exported before all went to hell. So basically, I have full access to every file and folder within my Windows partition from my Linux partition, which leads me to believe that I should be able to fix the registry files from here.
In settings I have a large temporary files allocation which says I can delete, I click and it says "We're cleaning up your temporary files. Come back In a bit to checkout the results." I have left it for hours and there is no change. They are taking up a lot of room.
View 2 RepliesWhat I have HDD Win 7 Home Premium Activated SSD Win 10 (Upgraded Win 7) Activated Dont have a Boot Manager Can choose Boot up Disk from BIOS at startup If I choose Win 10 - All Boots Well, No problem When I choose Win 7 after using Win 10 Chkdsk runs and deletes thousands of Files Finishes chkdsk and Boots Win 7 fine Win 7 Boot after Win 7 Boot - no chkdsk and Boots fine I think it might be making changes to make it the C Drive - but thats without knowledge both Win 10 and Win 7 use C drive When installing Win 7 before the Upgrade, I installed to "unalocated" space which I read would give it a C Drive as alternative to Creating into a Drive Letter eg G Drive I could live with it as it is, if it were not for the Long Startup deleting etc to Win 7 - sooner or later the deleting would malfunction I am at a standstill and dont want to tinker and screw everything up...
View 5 RepliesSo when I built my pc I didn't get an ssd, now I got one since windows 10 is out and I want to install the upgrade on an ssd, how could i go about putting the os on the ssd without deleting all of my files on my terabyte hdd?
View 1 RepliesI've just made a very simple batch file for cleaning my temp folder. I've put the .bat file in my startup folder so it would clean TEMP when i log in. I've wrote down the following lines:
rd D:TEMP /s /q
md D:TEMP
As i said, very simple. But the problem is that it is not working. I also think i know why; there are files and folders in the temporary folder that are in use so the batch file can't delete them.
Using Windows 10 Home.
If I search within a folder for say *.* and then delete a file, the list of files does not refresh.
The file remains listed even though it's been deleted.
If I manually refresh then the file disappears from the list. Same thing happens if I undo the delete.
I need to hit F5 to make the file reappear in the search list.
Okay I just upgraded to Windows 10 this morning and I had all of my downloaded files from other websites all in the desktop under a folder called software after the upgrade it opened up Windows 10 and ran me through the tutorial, and had me reboot after I change some settings. when it rebooted it took about 20 minutes said something about some new features and "we want to show you new features" and others some other junk.
Finally when I did pull the explorer back up the only thing that was there was the recycle bin, my computer, and the downloads folder which was empty I went through every inch of my hard drive I even went over it with undelete Pro and still no traces of my files they were archive files and setup files for software. when I finally did find a trace of one of my old folders, the only thing that would it would tell me was that it was unavailable and that it must've been moved or deleted I took a picture of the error message and can't find answers anywhere..
Since late Sep 2015 updates, I have been getting random freezes when writing files to secondary HDD via Internet Download Manager and also freezes when deleting big file in that HDD.Things done to fix but failed:
1. update Internet Download Manager to latest version
2. replaced secondary HDD
3. reformat and install Win 10 on SSD
Just upgraded to Windows 10, and now all of my acrobat files open with through internet explorer (whatever its called now) rather than through the acrobat program. As I result, I cannot edit my pdf files.

View 4 RepliesWe are trying to gain permissions access to the Temp file stored in the C Drive on a computer i have clicked properties and then the security tab and clicked the Allow (Full Control) box but when i click to Apply i get an error message saying
failed to enumerate objects in the container
c:windows emp
And we can then still not get access to the temp file, we need to access the temp file as the software we use apparently has a file stored in there it needs to access and without permission to access the file we cant open the software ?
Why I've got a high CPU reading temp of 66 oC . And how to bring it down to a safe temp.

First Disk Management doesn't work, now this?
My Windows 10 Experience is being top notch.
Been searching around and people say to reset IE, but Windows 10 doesn't have IE, I deleted some files from AppData like someone said to be able to reset Edge.
Same thing happens, I'm getting quite annoyed at this.
I can't use disk management as well:
Internet Options gives recommended settings for temporary files as between 50 and 250mb. After Windows 10 upgrade mine was set at over14,000mb.
View 1 RepliesI bought a new Microsoft surface pro 3 It originally had windows 8 installed on it.From the instant that I unboxed it, turned it on, and accessed Wi-Fi connection, there were almost ALWAYS errors when installing certain plugins or programs from the internet. Instead the errors always came with the message can not create temp folder archive etc. or something of the like.
I downloaded Window 10 because it looked comfortable. No change; none of the programs that I download from internet explorer, edge, or google chrome work. No plugins, and sometimes no important pop-ups either.Another problem... which I have a feeling is related... I downloaded Microsoft office too. All of it worked except for Microsoft Word. Every time I try saving something, regardless of which button I click on, there is absolutely no response and none of the files are saved...
I looked into the internet for answers and there weren't that many. One video on youtube seemed to have a solution. It advised that I go into some advanced settings under the properties of my pc and click on environment settings and... do something I don't really understand. The instructions were:
User variables for {userName} and change the TEMP and TMP vars values to "c:/temp or something like that...
This PC was brand new, and yet these errors surfaced from the beginning and I still can't fix it.
After installing Windows 10 - File Explorer is pointing at a temp area instead of where my data is stored on the C drive.
View 1 RepliesWindows 10 Pro.
Administrator.
When trying to access the WindowsTemp folder, I receive the prompt informing me that, "You don't currently have permission to access this folder."
I click the continue button and receive the error message, "You have been denied permission to access this folder. To gain access to this folder you will need to use the security tab."
I do just that.
Properties --> Security --> Advanced --> Continue
Creator Owner, Administrators and System all have Full Control. Users has 'special.' So I adjust Users to have Full control.
I receive the error: "An error occurred while applying security information to: C:WindowsTemp. Failure to enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied."
I click continue and get this error, "Unable to save permission changes on Temp. Access is denied."
