I was updating my Dell Venue Pro 8 to Windows 10 Build 10547 and got a red error message that read. "Secure Boot Violation" "Invalid signature detected. Check Secure Boot Policy in Setup". There is an OK button at the bottom of the message, but nothing happens when I try to click on it. I can shut the tablet off, but when I start it I get the same message. I am stuck. Where to I go from here.

View 2 RepliesSo I made the mistake of upgrading my Dell Venue 8 Pro to Windows 10... It's very slow and buggy.
I tried using the built in "Revert back to Windows 8.1" option in the Settings "app", but it says that files have been deleted and it can no longer perform the uninstallation.
I also tried going into the tablet's built in Backup and Recovery from Dell, but that doesn't allow me to reinstall Windows 8. It's merely a diagnostic.
I have tried upgrading my Dell venue 8 Pro many times from GWX, installation media and direct download in normal and also after reset of tablet with secure boot and also removing secure boot, removing fast boot and with fast boot using all permutations and combinations. Still I am unsuccessful. I am not finding any way to get support from Dell also. It goes to upgrade 91% always and then says going to reboot. But it reboots to windows 8.1.
View 9 RepliesJust installed my Win 10 from Microsoft. All went well on the Venue 8 pro. Win 10 worked well with the Dell VN8P but if you put it to sleep by pressing the power button or it enters sleep itself after the time you set, it WILL NOT start back up when you press the power button. LED back light on but screen remains black.
You need to hold down the power button > 10 sec to shut down completely. The you can reboot and all works fine.
This was unacceptable for my use so for now I back out of Win 10 to Win 8.1 which works fine. Tried all kinds of Windows power settings and options. Nothing works.
I have a Dell 11 venue Pro (7140) tablet and I upgraded to windows 10. My tablet comes with 128Gb and I found out that I have many recovery partition. I am not sure which one I can remove it using DISKPART. Below is what I seen on the Disk Management Screen. Only C drive has volume label of C.

As I get ready to do a clean install of 10074 I am curious about the need to disable secure boot and fast boot options. If I do disable secure boot do I need to enable legacy boot?I have had limited success with previous installs to a 2nd hard drive and the problems that arose always seem related to dual booting.
In one instance I did a clean install of 10061 and had left secure boot enabled. In order to get dual boot working I had to disable secure boot, and upon rebooting I needed to change it back to secure. I then made Win 8.1 the default boot and then Win 10 would never boot from the menu, it would just take me back to the boot menu and I could boot into Win 8.1.
Basically, I have a really bleepty BIOS that will only let me change the boot order with secure boot disabled and legacy boot enabled. I need secure boot because I just installed windows 10 onto a new drive and it won't activate. I have heard that this has something to do with secure boot being disabled. I still have the activated drive, which is the primary drive. Is there anything I can do to change the boot order?
View 7 RepliesI installed Windows 10 Pro on an Intel NUC5i3RYH. In the UEFI settings I enabled Secure Boot, enabled UEFI boot and disabled Legacy Boot, yet in Windows 10 System Information it still says Secure Boot State: Off.
Is there something else I need to do to get Secure Boot working?
will one have installing Windows-10 on a machine now running Windows-7 64-bit with an older BIOS? In particular, the BIOS setup area has no references to UEFI. So, references to "disabling Secure Boot" don't make sense. (I have a DELL Vostro 1500, bought in March 2008, which is still very functional.)
View 4 Repliesi had secure boot up and running on my windows 8.1 machine after a clean install, but now since Microsoft upgraded me to windows 10 it seems as my secure boot is off again, but it's enabled in my bios is so weird, it's enabled in bios but off in windows 10? Is not much of a big deal to me in a since but just wondering why it still shows as on in bios but off in windows 10.
View 9 RepliesI just canceled my Windows 10 download request because of "Secure Boot." I find it's very disturbing to work under its conditions of inflexibility. Without an option to select or deselect, Secure Boot is an irrational restriction on the individual.

Have a Dell XPS 8300 which came with Win7 Home Premium. 10-12 days ago, finally got my system upgraded to Win10... but, after completing the password, all I get is a black screen.
FINALLY figured out it's because this motherboard came with an on-board VGA and delivered with an add-on VGA/HDMI board... It's truly annoying... but tapping Window-P (keys) gets me to where I can choose "which screen"... biggest rub being I'm doing it in the blind.
Soooo... I want to get into my PC's BIOS to disable the on-board video... at other times, I'd like to be able to change other BIOS stuff like Boot Sequence, etc. HOWEVER... Win10 seems to have disabled the keyboard (no F2, F12, etc) until Win10 takes control and intercepts. Googled and found several "fixes" but none work.
how I can boot this system... and get into it's BIOS... PREFERABLY directly at startup?
Also, why does SHUTDOWN NOT totally power this machine off?? Hate internal lights being on... keep seeing my Ethernet lights blink... and getting tired of pulling the cord?
When i start the laptop it stops at the dell logo and does nothing till the time i dont press a key. After pressing a key it starts log in.

On start-up, it now hangs on the Dell logo or when trying boot options to start from USB or recovery DVD go to blank black screen. Dell phone support sucked but they sent me a recovery USB drive (to factory set Win 8.1), however start-up would still hang at the Dell logo. Tried all different boot combinations from CD/DVD, USB, OS/Boot partition but cannot proceed beyond Dell logo or black/blank screen. I do not have a original Windows 10 OS disc, however did a download from

Used an original Windows 7 Ultimate installation CD to start and get to command prompt to recover files from C: drive and can browse through all folders and files. Copied user data to USB drive. So HDD appears OK.
I am running Windows 10 Home, upgraded from Windows 7. I'm trying to reinstall Windows 10 via the 'Reset PC' function. Each time I try the ensuing restart results in WDF_Violation. This error occurs regards whether I initiate the function in safe mode or the other ways.

Was away for two weeks. Upon return, could not find main user name or files. Tried to do a recovery to the last date it worked. I get a WDF VIOLATION and reboot. Cannot recover.

I then shows a screen with "Starting Automatic Repair". Then back to the "windows has encountered a problem"

F8 does nothing
F2 and F12 work but provide no remedy .....
I recently updated my Sony VAIO from Windows 7 to Windows 10. For the last week or so, I have found when playing audio (on sites such as YouTube and Soundcloud), the sound cuts out and the stream pauses, and doesn't reload until I refresh the page. This happens several times on a daily basis. Occasionally, the sound cut-out directly leads to 'DPC Watchdog Violation' BSOD.
I am guessing it's my sound driver that's causing the issue? I am not sure though.

Just installed Windows 10 from Windows 7. Get a black screen without cursor after sign in. When boot up in safe mode, I get a WDF violation and automatic restart whenever I attempt to go to a recovery point or any other option. This creates an loop that I can't break. I am able to access my web browser (chrome) and Excel by pressing control/alt/delete and using the new file feature on the Task Manager.

I guess some driver has been 'updated' by windows and is causing a crash ? Heres the log. Which driver I need to downgrade. I hate windows update it just breaks things.

I visited service Centre he told me to replace my Mobo, so I did and got my PC today working but the service rep told me to roll back to Windows 8 since 10 had lot of issues. So while resetting my PC again it terminated and gave a WDF_VIOLATION again and after that my display went blank again. Note both the times after resetting this thing happened.

View 1 RepliesI've been having nothing but problems with Windows 10 since I upgraded from windows 7. All the parts I've had worked on 7 just fine. I upgraded to 10 and I've been getting BSOD randomly and especially on the startups. I even would get BSOD just from the upgrade to 10. I had to turn off turbo core and cool and quiet so it would get through the installation. I noticed one of my HDD broke in the process. Didn't work on any computer I tested it on. Might be a coincidence as it's 5 years old. A few days after I finally got 10 to work. I put my computer in a new case with a new PSU. It would work fine for a week or two and then it would BSOD randomly. I had an issue with Google Chrome in that it would slowly lock my computer up everytime I opened it. I initially thought my SSD was going bad but it's only 2 years old. I stopped using Chrome and the problem stopped for awhile. Every once and awhile I would get a BSOD randomly or on a startup but it would always fix itself. Now I'm getting a new error that is the worst yet.
I use my computer for animations, rendering, gaming, browsing so it gets worked quite often but it doesn't crash during intense use. Now I'm completely stuck. I am getting this "driver verifier iomanager violation wdf01000.sys" BSOD everytime I boot up the computer. I don't remember installing anything new the last time I used it.
When I get in to safe mode, a BSOD System_exception_error will pop up in 5 minutes or so. Sometimes it will be a kmode error. I noticed sometimes I would get it just starting up in safe mode. I barely managed to get the dump file off of there.
