I then upgraded that monitor to a 4k monitor and the notifications/tray menus for some programs seem to still open as if its a 1440p monitor. I have two side monitors that are 1440p and the notifications load properly on those but its very annoying that they load in the middle of my screen on my 4k monitor. I really don't want to reinstall windows or multiple programs.

The new Windows notifications appear over my windowed fullscreen games, especially in one game covering up the minimap. Is there a way to make it appear under them? It used to work perfect in Windows 8 and earlier, where the speech bubble notification would appear over my non-fullscreen programs, but would be hidden behind windowed fullscreen ones.

Now when I type bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd and hit enter. Then I got the error message and look below:
bootrec is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
So is Windows 10 not recognize with that word " bootrec " and what is the other word for this. How to fix MBR issue in Windows 10.
I have two common home printers, Lexmark inkjet and HP laserjet on a home network, and when I upgraded from W7 to W10 they were not installed. The W10 network scan brought up nothing, even though both printers were switched on and 'awake'. Even with the laptop placed right next to the printers, still nothing! So I now have no way of printing and no way of installing a printer!
PS: I also have blurry fonts, and I see from this forum and the web in general that that's a whole separate world of grief!
I was watching some vids on YouTube and then all the suddenly a msg pops up on my taskbar. I was going to see what it has to say but then the screen all the suddenly starts flashing. I clicked once and it went dark. I put it on hibernation then woke it and I was able to move my cursor but the OS didn't respond. It's ok now but I am afraid of viruses and things like that. The message icon was a triangle with an exclamation mark in it. I am currently running Windows 10 64-bit on a Lenovo T410

They do nothing when I click on them.They are working for other users on the same PC.Haven't updated anything except Java. how to reset them for the ADMIN User. I've let it scan my computer (both quick-scan and full-scan), but within five minutes the notification pops back up again. I've looked online and found that it can be down to a certain setting in CCleaner, I use CCleaner but the option that all the solutions say to untick isn't present in the latest versions.

I recently upgraded to Windows 10, Put OS onto SSD along with a few other essentials and have a second hard drive for storage.The shared Pictures, Videos, Documents (etc) folders were all by default on my relatively small SSD. how to move location of the folders (right click the relevant folder, select 'Properties', then select 'Location', then 'Move', browse to where you want it to go . . .)
Here's the thing, in the process of moving my 'Pictures' folder to what is currently labelled as my F: drive, I managed to browse to F - but not actually select a folder.My 'Pictures' location is now my F: drive , oops, I'm now feeling like a bit of a donkey! but hey ho, I'll just move 'Pictures' again - to a folder this time - with a name right? - NO, that wont work - I guess because it now thinks I want to move the entire contents of my F: drive maybe?
OK - well, there's an option to 'Restore Default' (within the Location tab) - I select that and it looks promising, the original target on my C: drive shows in the window but upon pressing 'Apply' it then asks:Do you want to move all of the files from the old location to the new location?
Old location: F:
New Location: C:UsersLaptopPictures
We recommend moving all of the files so that programs needing to access the folder's content can do so.And if I press yes, I get:The folder can't be moved hereAccess is denied.Basically the same issue again - The 'Folder' in this case is my F: drive that has other shared folders within it - so I guess that's why I can't do this?So, currently I have a drive as a location for my 'Pictures' not a convenient holding folder within that drive.The method for moving all the other folders has been fine (where I actually moved them to named folders on a different drive).
I've recently updated to Windows 10, but the Bluetooth didn't seem to work properly. It doesn't seem to be able to detect any devices. Also, i couldn't even find the option 'allow devices to connect to this computer' in bluetooth settings. i've tried to reinstall the latest version of drivers but it didn't work.

The problem is there's a lot of partition on the partition menu when proceeding into a clean install and I don't know a lot about them. My laptop comes with win 8 single L and I didn't upgrade to windows 8.1, is it safe to delete this partitions (i'll attach some images)
btw my laptop didn't come up with installation disc or recovery disc. Can I just delete them all? I mean wouldn't they harm or do any corrupt files in my laptop? I found out that those recovery partition is essential if I don't have any recovery backups and MSR partition is from windows itself. Any step that I must do to clean install windows 10? should I just format Partition 4:Acer"? would it still be considered clean install? or should I delete something from this partitions?
I have a new Netgear USB wireless router I want to install. When I attempt to run the Netgear Windows10-version installation software for the Driver, the installation crashes with the "Windows Install Error 1603" notification. I cannot figure out what this means, except something to do with the Installer being unable to load the driver. The router IS rrecognized in Device Manager, but with a yellow warning that "Windows could not load the driver".
EVERYTHING else on my desktop is working just great, not a problem anywhere.
Netgear Live Chat support is stumped; they told me to get another unit. Well, I have done that already! The strange thing is that BOTH these routers are INSTANTLY recognized by my laptop running Windows 10 just like my Desktop is. The problem AIN'T the router! Something in Win 10 on my Desktop isn't right, and I need to find out what to do to fix it.
Upgraded (???) a Windows 8 machine (HP with MS ergonomic keyboard) to Windows 10 a couple of months ago. It seemed to work, but most of the apps didn't work, and I couldn't access files as Administrator. this week I upgraded (???) a Lovono using Windows 7 to Windows 10. They are networked with printers and other computers via ethernet. Thursday afternoon the HP stopped recognizing key strokes. It allows password input on restart, but will not type anything else. It clicks like the buffer is full. Yesterday the Lovono started doing the same thing. My first thought was virus, although McAfee runs constantly on both machines. Used Malwarebytes on both and found a few PUPs, but no malware or virus. One forum suggested using DriverWizz, but it didn't change the keyboard driver. The Windows 7 computer on the same network, sharing files with both, is unaffected as yet. I'm thinking the solution will be to junk Windows 10 and go back to 7 and 8. If Windows 10 were a Vacuum Cleaner it would be terrific, but sucking like this is not all that terrific for an OpSys.

View 1 RepliesI own a Nokia Lumia 820. Yesterday facebook app was crashing and wouldn't open so I uninstall it. Now that that I'm trying to re-download it it won't let me. It tells me to check if the phone system is updated which it is. It is the only app I'm having problems downloading, I have download others during the day to check if the problem was related to all downloads but it isn't. It's just facebook.

I don't know if this is related or not, but if I move a file from Documents to the desktop or try to save a file to the desktop or to the folder downloads, I get an error telling me I can not do that and I need permission from the administrator, I am the administrator, I have the only account on this computer and it is an administrator account.
In Windows in the past you could go to the windows update download site to find the updates. It doesn't seem to work for Windows 10 cumulative updates. Is there a way to find these updates? I have even tried googling the kb numbers and it only gives details but not the file to download. I wanted to test the Wicd tool ability to add in updates to the media.

View 4 RepliesToday I tried to install a game from the Windows store and it wont download. I noticed that there were 4 apps trying to update as well, but none of them were moving. When I tried to pause or cancel them, the store would freeze. I restarted my computer which allowed me to pause and cancel, but the apps still down download. Even if its just one at a time. Is it a bug? Is there a workaround?
View 1 RepliesPicked up a Lenovo Yoga 700 the other day. Everything's been going ok. Got some windows updates last night. Today, nothing will download from the windows marketplace. Don't know if they're related. So far I've tried relogging into my windows account, disabling all security software, changing the boot mode, restarting windows update. All things I've found by searching for this issue. None of it has worked.

View 2 RepliesIn Windows 10, is there a way to download or activate the standard (old) windows photo viewer? The Windows 10 Photos app sucks for more reasons than I can say in one message. But the biggest problem is that it refuses to let me view my photos if I am not connected to the internet. I am in Ethiopia for a few weeks and internet is spotty. I take hundreds of pictures, transfer them to my Surface 3, then try to view them and it gives me an error and won't let me view any of them. Once I have an internet connection I can view them even though they are stored locally.
