View 9 RepliesIn the opposite way of how the system handles me trying to delete an EXE file, now the system just goes ahead and deletes without the standard idiot box asking me if I am sure I want to delete the file. This is quite dangerous as the Delete menu item on the context menu can sometimes be actuated accidentally, without me even knowing about it!
View 3 RepliesWhen I switched on the pc and attempted to open a folder by double clicking, It opened by single clicking and carried on opening continuosly. I then googlee for the cause of folder opening up constantly then I found that mount points shoul'd be deleted using regedit. So I deleted it then when I switch off the pc and switch it onn again. The issue comes back and mountpoints2 is still there. I've searched on google for a solution still have not found how to get rid of this permanently even used youtube.

When I power up my laptop it connects to a network, that I don't have (xfinitywifi). I have deleted the profile, to no avail, I get to my network by cycling my wireless. Its really annoying.
View 2 RepliesWin 7 allowed this, but I can't figure out how in Win 10. I want Win 10 to "trust" my Galaxy S5 and automatically receive and save files sent by the phone. I send multiple files, usually photos, and having to go through all the manual steps for each picture is not working for me. I have Googled this and searched forums to no avail.
View 9 RepliesCan the "Replace or Skip Files Confirmation" window be changed to the way it was in Windows 7? The one on windows 10 is inconvenient and even at times confusing (Like when backing up text files from my hard drive to a flash drive into a fold of the same name)

View 9 RepliesI use Macrium Reflect for image backup and want to permanently disable system protection. I have used the control panel to turn off system protection several times now but have noticed that for some reason periodically it gets turned back on. I have turned it off and then did a restart and it was still off but then several days later I checked and it was back on so I'm not completely sure what is triggering it to turn back on. Is there any way to turn it off so it doesn't come back on by itself?

Group policy maybe? Or registry?
I'm on build 10074 of Windows 10 and cannot find a way to permanently disable Windows Defender. When I go to Control Panel > Windows Defender > Settings, it brings up the new Windows 10 System Settings app which gives an option to turn "Real-time protection" off. However, the description on that states:
Real-tim protection find and stop malware form installing or running on your PC. You can turn it off temporarily, but if it's off for a while, we'll turn it back on automatically.
After about 15 minutes, it turns itself back on. How can I disable this permanently?
I have been having a problem with disabling the touchscreen in my windows 10 laptop. At one point, my laptop fell on cement. Luckily no hardware was damaged except for the screen's glass, losing its touchscreen capability. The problem is that the screen keeps recording false touches, making it difficult to get work done. I took the liberty of disabling the screen on Device Manager, however, after a few boots, the touch screen was somehow re enabled. I tried uninstalling the device, but it is built into the windows operating system and would simple be re enabled at the next boot. Is there any way to keep windows from recognizing the touchscreen without physically removing the touchscreen?
View 1 RepliesI have purchased two licenses of Windows 10 Pro x64. Everything works fine, except for one disturbing elements.
I have an unsigned driver to a program that I use every day, so I have to boot in the "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" mode every time, for the program to work. Yes, I have activated the old fashioned F8 boot menu, which is disabled by default in Windows 10. This is no problem, but it seems impossible to get Windows 10 to boot in this mode as standard.
In Windows 7 I solved it easily with the programs "Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider" or "ReadyDriver Plus", but none of these programs seem to work in Windows 10.
So my question is simply, how do I configure Windows 10 so that my computer will boot in the "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" mode PERMANENTLY? Alternatively, configure the boot setting so that the boot menu (F8) appears by default every time I boot, so I don't always need to be prepared to throw myself on the F8 key at every startup.
When trying to delete some files I get a dialog box entitled Interrupted Action with a second line saying 'Invalid MS-DOS Function". It appears any files from Windows 7 will not delete.
View 4 RepliesI recently deleted some mp3 files and folders, then when I emptied the Recycle Bin I inadvertently answered "no" to the "are you sure you want to delete these files" question. Now they are sitting on my recent files / frequent folders page and will not delete again. When you analyze them they are 0 bytes, so not taking up any space (also may be the reason they won't delete) but they are cluttering the area and I need to get rid of them. My laptop is brand new, under warranty, but Dell support saying it's a software issue. I went on You Tube and found one video that demonstrated a method of deleting them through the "Command Prompt" screen, but this didn't work.
View 1 RepliesAs I was teaching a class today Windows 10 started an update that I did not approve. It just started. When it booted back up there was a dialogue box saying all my files were where I left them. When I click on the listing of the 20 most recent files in Word, I can open those. But the folders in which they were housed cannot be found.
View 1 Replieswhen I open a folder to browse the files and say I want to copy/delete a particular file, then the confirmation dialog box is hiding behind the main explorer window, so I have to minimize explorer in order to click ok or the appropriate action that is needed.
View 6 RepliesThere are 3 boxes that refer to Win 10 installation and when you try to delete them it says you will not be able to go back to your previous OS.It is substantial space as I believe one box contains something like x amount of GB's.I have imaged Win 10 so I think could delete them but isn't it more likely I should keep them in case I need to go back and an image failed? Is it subjective or is there a rule of thumb regarding this issue?
View 2 RepliesMy Inspirio 14 laptop currently has 5.74 GB of useless files sitting around in it, but none of the tools to delete them are working. Both Disk Cleanup and the option in the menu at:Settings>System>Storage>This PC>Temporary Files.Disk Cleanup won't even start, even allowing for some time. (I waited a full hour for it, still nothing.)I need to know where I can access these files to delete them myself. I already deleted things in the %temp% and prefetch folders, which brought it from 6.25GB to 5.74. I have tried running Disk Cleanup from every menu and shortcut it has, but none have worked.
View 1 RepliesSettings -> System -> Storage -> c:/ -> Temporary Files will not delete.
I have 56gigs of temp files that I can't touch/find/remove. The delete temporary files will not work to clear this. I've tried various Ccleaner and disk clean up.
I can't get rid of these files , they are leftovers from deleting backups . How to delete these? The second screenshot is the message I get .....
View 3 RepliesI just installed windows 10 onto my first SSD (Made it my master drive) and i'd like to delete every file and folder on my old HDD except the one in which all my games are installed (Not program files its a folder labeled "Games" in the root directory).
But I keep needing permission from "SYSTEM" Or "TrustedInstaller" to remove them. Do i have to use the "take Ownership" Regedit to do it? or is there some faster way?..
Also i do not have another drive to move the games to that would allow me to format the HDD.
I can't delete any folders from my system drive C: Keep getting error code "1 interrupted action" Invalid MS-DOS function. I have gone in and checked all my security settings and I have full permissions for everything. I get this error code no matter which folder I try to delete. It's as all files are locked. Can't even drag and drop to the desktop to try removing them that way.
View 3 RepliesI received an ASUS Transformer T100-HA, which is essentially a Windows 10 tablet with a keyboard docking platform. I love it. Not entirely a fan of Windows 10 yet, but it is somewhat growing on me.
In the Windows 10 Settings panel, under the Storage options and the main OS drive, (a built-in 64GB SSD) I have the option to clear out temporary files and other data that is taking up space where it is not needed.
However, when I click the button to delete temporary files, it tells me to wait a moment, then goes back to showing the 16.4GB of occupied space that it had before.
I was checking my storage on pc and find out that almost all GB are are used by system and reserved files, and it is more than 70GB. How can I delete these files?
View 9 RepliesI cannot seem to delete files when I'm doing a regular search in windows. I can go to any folder and delete files, but I when I see the same files in a search result, pressing del does nothing and when I right click, I have no option to delete them like I do when I'm just viewing a folder. Am I missing something completely obvious here? Is this really a feature or a bug or what?
