I recently installed Windows 10. But the drivers for my VIA soundchip which came with the motherboard don't work with it. I am able to install it but when I try to run HDVdeck it doesn't open. It did work in W8.1. Any fix?? Or can I disable front jack detection any other way??
View 1 RepliesIssue i'm having with using my headset in my front panels and I can't figure out what's up.
If I plug the green headphone jack into the headphone port the pop up comes up and tells me this is the pink mic port. Gives me the option to select from headphone, mic, front speaker etc..
If i plug the pink mic jack into the microphone port it thinks this is the green headphone port and no option to select Mic.
Why are these reversed? The HD audio connector is connected correctly to my motherboard (only goes on one way anyway)
I just bought a new PC and installed W10 (previously was using W7) and when i plugged my headphones to front jack i did not have any sound at all. I googled for some time to find a solution and found that i have to check "Disable front panel jack detection" and i got the sound, BUT the sound was only in one side. When i was testing in Realtek HD Audio Manager it also played sound only in one side.
Headphones work fine so it probably is Windows glitch.also tried to uninstall & reinstall drivers for Realtek HD Audio.
I just upgraded to Windows 10 recently, and so far (for the most part) it's working great!The only issue I have is that some windows won't focus and stay on top when I alt-tab to it or click it, like it did in all other versions of Windows.
For example: I have Chrome open on top, I alt-tab my music player (which is in a small window), and the music player goes in front, but when I click the Chrome in the back of the player, the player stays in front, covering parts of the screen. This happens to multiple programs I run.
Besides this issue, sometimes when I alt-tab to a program, it just doesn't even show up in-front of whatever other program I have currently on top.
I have bought Gold Touch HDDS-U3 docking station, I plugged both usb cables to the computer (one to SSUsb port and one to regular port), waiting for 30 minutes while it was turn off (for battery charging). After that I insert a 3.5' HDD and turn it on. Nothing happen. there is no red or green light and the device doesn't appear in Disks Management.

The message was something like c nedriveTemp followed by a long series of numbers. I tried to scan and delete the file but it keeps coming back. That threat message keeps notifying me like every 10 min.
View 1 RepliesSince I upgraded to 10 I have an issue that occurs when I have multiple windows open; when I click the taskbar to switch program to something that is already minimised or in the background, such as a new settings screen, or any other screen which doesn't automatically maximise to full screen resolution, it will just disappear behind all other open windows. So for example, if I have chrome open and want to go to steam (or anything either unopened, minimised or in the background) I would click on the program in taskbar, the screen will flash up - but as soon as I move my cursor towards it (ie away from the taskbar), the screen that is already open will take priority and send the new screen to the back. This is rather frustrating and I've never had this problem before.
I'm not sure whether it is a taskbar problem or a window priority issue? But, I just can't seem to fix the issue.
To temporarily solve it, I have had to minimise all windows to get to the new window that I want - as it will just go to the back (unless I either quickly move my mouse to it, or if the screen is maximised and at the top already) and this isn't ideal.
I recently upgraded my PC case and for some reason whenever I plug in a USB device Windows doesn't seem to go with it. In device manager when I go onto the connected USB device properties it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". I'm currently running Windows 10.
View 1 RepliesI am having audio problems that I have been unable to resolve. My pc specs and problem below. So since I upgraded to Windows 10 one of the biggest things that annoys me is when I plug in headphones they are not picked up by my pc and I have to manually switch to them as default audio using the Playback devices menu. On Windows 7 I had a Audio Control panel that popped up and detected the headphones.
I am also having issues with the volume sounding low throughout and terrible call quality on skype not sure if this is a separate issue, I have tried manually updating, removing & reinstalling the audio drivers from the device manager and also tried downloading the realtek windows 10 drivers. None of these have seemed to work, I have tried software that detects out of date drivers to no avail and also made sure other components on my pc are updated incase this somehow worked.

The hover-event response time is too fast , and it triggers unwanted events. How can i shut off the hover-event detection or drastically slow it down ?

I've been trying to get my system audio front panel to work for a longg time now. I am using build 10041 and the issue still persisted. This is the 3rd build since I've started using Windows 10 and I am still not able to solve the problem. I need front panel to work because my built in audio back panel female jacks decided not to work. When I use back panel, I frequently keep getting "Audio plugged" and "Audio unplugged" popups and there's no audio. I believe it's with the ports. I've permanently started using front panel which works perfectly fine in Windows 7 but not at all in Windows 10 preview.

after installation of windows 10, my laptops audio jack is not working. No sound is coming in headphones.
View 1 RepliesOn my HP pavilion notebook the end of the headphones is stuck in that jack, currently I have a tool coming to repair that. Is there a way I can disable my audio jack. Headphones is not coming up in playback devices. The only thing that is is. Speakers/HP. I tried installing realtek software it will not install. It says it is installing the headphones than I switch it to the speakers as the default but then it switches back to the Speakers/HP.
View 1 RepliesMy audio jack is not working. I have tried reinstalling the driver and nothing. My laptop's speakers stop working when I connect my headphones, but no sound comes out. They are not detected in the Playback Devices and the Sound Mixer does not pick them up. The Realtek audio manager can, although not by default, detect when my headphones connect, but again, no sound comes out. I have tried several jacks and none works.
View 1 RepliesMy laptop only has one combo audio/microphone jack, and I can't get the microphone to work at all. I just bought a new headset that came with an audio/microphone splitter specifically for the purpose of using it on this laptop. While the output works fine, the microphone input is absolutely ignored.
I am 100% positive this is an audio/microphone splitter (and not just an audio splitter) as it has 3 rings on the end of it (indicating that it is compatible with using a microphone), and one of the input jacks even has a microphone icon on it. Realtek Settings are nowhere to be found in Control Panel, and I couldn't seem to find anything in the system sound settings.
Where I work, the IT department made the mistake of purchasing computers with built-in speakers. We do not want the speakers to function at all, only any sound put through the headphone jack. After disabling the speakers, we found that YouTube no longer works, which is a problem.
That said, is there a way to permanently disable the speakers, leave the headset jack enabled and still allow YouTube to continue playing videos even if a headset is not plugged in?
Apparently my computer no longer recognizes my headphones - when I plug them in nothing happens, sound continues to come from the computer speakers but nothing from the headset. This was working fine until I upgraded to Win 10.
View 5 RepliesI have headset Genius HS-500X and it has 2 seperate cables for audio and mic. The problem is that my laptop has only 1 jack with headphones and microphone icon, so it should be a combo jack. About 2 months ago I've bought an splitter [URL] , that has one cable red and one green so it should work. It's the same as in picture. But when I plug everything in correctly microphone is not working and headphones have reversed sound, when sound should come from left side it comes from right. I've tried to reinstall software (realtek) many times, also bought another one splitter, but no success.
View 9 RepliesI for one have had no trouble with windows 10. One thing I did do before I upgraded was ran antimalware, updated my driver, cleaned out all the rubbish shortcuts that did not work.
Then ran all updates then upgraded. All I had to do was update one driver, then let windows 10 put in the updates it wanted. Then uninstalled IE11 and only using Edge,.
As you can see it is no where in the file system, If just disabled it would show up.
I work in an education environment and these kids are very savvy. They have figured out how to put the computer in Safe Mode and make it impossible for me to track them. how to Disable Safe Mode?
View 5 RepliesI currently have Windows 10 installed on a Raid 0 of Two Samsung 840 Evo's. Because of a change in the way I am using the PC I need to disable the raid and leave them as separate drives.
The reason I am concerned is that windows 10 is bound to your Hardware, not you. So for me to reinstall windows after disabling raid would I need a new copy or would just installing windows 10 again work?
Alternately if I was to re-install windows 8.1 on my machine after disabling raid. Would I then be able to do the upgrade again and get windows 10 that way?
I honestly don't use OneDrive and I just see it as bloatware. Anyways to remove it? I tried looking in the Windows built in uninstaller but I don't see it there.
View 1 RepliesI detest them. And on this particular cheapo keyboard, they're in a *particularly* annoying location for me. So what I want to do is to turn them OFF! Preferably permanently, altho in Win 10...this might be impossible. (A hint in DosBox suggested deleting certain junk keyboard devices...but Windows 10 put them back in when I rebooted. NO!! But Windows is the god of the computer, so YES.) Still, as long as I have SOME method to turn these buttons off, that would be a huge improvement.

will one have installing Windows-10 on a machine now running Windows-7 64-bit with an older BIOS? In particular, the BIOS setup area has no references to UEFI. So, references to "disabling Secure Boot" don't make sense. (I have a DELL Vostro 1500, bought in March 2008, which is still very functional.)

I've already unchecked file and printer sharing and not bothered about any file sharing.
