Disabling / Removing OneDrive?
Aug 13, 2015I honestly don't use OneDrive and I just see it as bloatware. Anyways to remove it? I tried looking in the Windows built in uninstaller but I don't see it there.

View 1 RepliesI for one have had no trouble with windows 10. One thing I did do before I upgraded was ran antimalware, updated my driver, cleaned out all the rubbish shortcuts that did not work.
Then ran all updates then upgraded. All I had to do was update one driver, then let windows 10 put in the updates it wanted. Then uninstalled IE11 and only using Edge,.
As you can see it is no where in the file system, If just disabled it would show up.
I work in an education environment and these kids are very savvy. They have figured out how to put the computer in Safe Mode and make it impossible for me to track them. how to Disable Safe Mode?
View 5 RepliesI currently have Windows 10 installed on a Raid 0 of Two Samsung 840 Evo's. Because of a change in the way I am using the PC I need to disable the raid and leave them as separate drives.
The reason I am concerned is that windows 10 is bound to your Hardware, not you. So for me to reinstall windows after disabling raid would I need a new copy or would just installing windows 10 again work?
Alternately if I was to re-install windows 8.1 on my machine after disabling raid. Would I then be able to do the upgrade again and get windows 10 that way?
I detest them. And on this particular cheapo keyboard, they're in a *particularly* annoying location for me. So what I want to do is to turn them OFF! Preferably permanently, altho in Win 10...this might be impossible. (A hint in DosBox suggested deleting certain junk keyboard devices...but Windows 10 put them back in when I rebooted. NO!! But Windows is the god of the computer, so YES.) Still, as long as I have SOME method to turn these buttons off, that would be a huge improvement.
This is a generic keyboard, using the default Windows 10 driver.
I would like to disable caps lock on my keyboard having previously done it but itsa not working now.
I have tried this:

...but the scancode binary number mentioned isn't there in my registry.
will one have installing Windows-10 on a machine now running Windows-7 64-bit with an older BIOS? In particular, the BIOS setup area has no references to UEFI. So, references to "disabling Secure Boot" don't make sense. (I have a DELL Vostro 1500, bought in March 2008, which is still very functional.)
View 4 RepliesI was recently reading this article on ShieldsUp [URL] .... about disabling the client for Microsoft networks. Are there any real security benefits for doing this and if so what would happen if I did? e.g. would I still be able to receive updates from Windows? I've already unchecked file and printer sharing and not bothered about any file sharing.
I'm using Win 10 btw ..
I'm on a Samsung laptop that came with Windows 8, I downloaded Windows 10 ISO and wanted to install fresh from the USB, then this happened:
1. The USB drive won't show up on the boot menu if I don't disable FastBoot in the BIOS.
2. The USB won't boot if I don't disable secure boot in the BIOS.
So I do disabled FastBoot and SecureBoot and the USB drive boots up normally and Windows 10 gets installed.
One problem that I found is that if I enable SecureBoot back again after having installed Windows 10 it won't boot anymore until I disable SecureBoot.
My question is, is it possible to install it without disabling secure boot? (I tried Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool and Rufus 2.2 to create the bootable USB). And if not am I really missing something by keeping SecureBoot off on the BIOS?
I recently installed Windows 10. But the drivers for my VIA soundchip which came with the motherboard don't work with it. I am able to install it but when I try to run HDVdeck it doesn't open. It did work in W8.1. Any fix?? Or can I disable front jack detection any other way??
View 1 RepliesWindows in general and I know that Win 10 has many of the things win 8 and 7 had so here goes. It might be worth mentioning that I have win 10, pro, fully updated and patched.
1. How do I disable the password screen when windows boots ? It's very annoying. I tried the netplwiz thing and didn't work. When I did that, another account would appear in the login list called other.
2. My laptop's speakers (lifebook 1780) are muffled and quiet to about 50% of the volume they should have. All volume is turned up, drivers are updated, all sound and device settings are calibrated and set accordingly to the highest quality. Should I try rolling back the driver ? It worked for some I think. It's worth mentioning that if I reduce the quality of the sound to less 41hz or whatever, the speakers increase slightly in volume.
When I go to Start -> Power -> Shut down, it displays the "Shutting down..." window, then the screen goes black, but the laptop won't shut down completely. That is, the WiFi, Bluetooth and Power (light bulb) indicators are still on (and the battery indicator too if plugged), and I have to force (power button long press) the laptop to shut down. I can also shutdown the WiFi and Bluetooth devices using the keyboard at this stage (with FN button). And if I keep the laptop this way long enough (unplugged), my battery will be completely drained.
I recently disabled Hibernation (cmd admin -> powercfg/h off) so I suspected it to be the culprit. So I enabled hibernation again (cmd admin -> powercfg/h off) and my laptop was shutting down as it should. I then disabled hibernation again and the problem came back. I also figured it might be something to do with my power plan so I reset it (Power options -> Change plan settings -> Restore default settings for this plan),
I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and now find that I can not disable the touch pad as I did in Windows 8. I have found I can disable it except for the buttons but when the computer starts again I have to disable it again.
View 2 RepliesI followed this guide and rebooted but I still get the login screen where I have to enter a password before logging in to Windows 10.
View 1 RepliesFor 2 weeks I've been trying to upgrade my Asus G50VT laptop from Windows 7 home to WIndows 10 home. I have tried over 5 times using Windows Update and several times using the Microsoft USB/DVD installer. Everything downloads fine; and gets to the black screen with the "installing drivers" with a percentage going around in a circle. It gets stuck at 32% every time. I have to force shutdown the laptop and it rolls back to Windows 7...
There are no new BIOS updates available from Asus (laptop was released in 2009) the latest BIOS is already installed and from 2012. I don't see anything for windows 10 on the Asus Website.I have all external usb devices removed. I have tried shutting off my WiFi adapter and disabling / uninstalling Norton Security/Anti-Virus.I have sucessfully upgraded 2 other machines from windows 8.1 to 10 with no problem.
I want to prepare my desktop before selling it and wipe all personal data. I am aware of tools like DBAN which would wipe out the entire disk including Win 10. I would prefer not to do that.
On a related note - my desktop is HP - came with Windows 7 - has the disk partitioned to C: and Recovery Image D:. If I do wipe out the entire C: drive, how exactly will I be able to recover Win 7 from D: ? It won't boot, right?
I'm upgrading my 8.1 tablet to W10 with a bootable USB. Now I didn't know it would take this long and it's still Copying files, problem is that it's been two and a half hours now and the tablet isn't charging because the USB is in it. In other words, the battery will likely not make it...
When can I remove the USB so I can start charging my tablet again? Can I remove it while it's doing copying files while in the installation phase?
Platform: HP Stream 7 Bluetooth Device: LG HBS750 headphones
The device was paired, but would not connect. I attempted to remove the device, but the tablet has been trying to "REMOVE DEVICE" for 3 days now.
I can't stop or interrupt the process.

View 6 RepliesI don't trust free duplicate file finders. Is there a way to find and delete duplicate files easily from a folder in Windows 10 that does not require using another program?
View 1 Repliesi got a new hard drive and installed it few days ago and when i boot up, it asks me every time, which OS i want to boot up. This gets annoying since I only have 1 and I can't find the boot.ini anywhere and websites don't specify how to remove an OS from the boot up screen.
View 2 RepliesHow do you remove Quick access from the left side of your folders when you have the navigation enabled? I can remove all of the icons under it just fine, but I cannot remove Quick access as a whole.
View 9 RepliesJust updated to windows 10 from 8.1. previously had McAfee installed and had removed it on the 8.1 build unfortunately 1 file "msmm" had not been removed before she updated to windows 10.
I can only find way for removing the file for 8.1 and it wont work in windows 10. The file is currently using 50% CPU, so you can see why I need to get this fixed.
if i go into task manager and turn it off it restarts
if i go into servies.msc the option to stop them is greyed out
i can find the file location but can not delete it because its running
I have even tried safe mode, logging in and trying the above and still have the same results, can ot remove the file.
We're looking at using Windows 10 at our school. I've got a few for testing. One of the things I'm trying to figure out how to do is remove things like the XBOX tile. Things we don't want students in during a class etc. Anyway I can't seem to find a way of removing them. I've found several pages listing powershell commands but they don't work. At least not for the xbox tile. Also I need a way of doing this for all PC's group policy or registry so I don't have to do it one by one.
View 2 RepliesSo i reset my PC and upgraded to Windows 10. I didn't have a password or any microsoft account link to the PC (besides login on websites.) I restarted my PC today and was prompt to type in a password. The username was my brothers email address. i couldn't log in any other way and there is only one account on the PC. He some how added his account to the PC after using the PC to control his Xbox ONE to watch netflix (he lost his controller) now i cant remove the account.
