View 1 RepliesIs it possible, in Windows 10, to have two sources play audio in two different outputs simultaneously?
For example, I have my TV speakers, and my normal computer speakers. Could I set it so that Skyrim will output from my computer speakers, and Chrome will output from my TV speakers at the same time?
Note that I don't have a dedicated sound card, I'm just using the default onboard audio for an ASRock Z97 Pro-3.
i've installed windows 10 on linux before and i've never had any problems booting it (from what i remember, through UEFI boot sources). currently the windows 10 iso seems to be the only one that isn't appearing in UEFI; i installed peppermint from lubuntu using the same image disk writer on the same usb 30 minutes ago.am i supposed to have some specific settings enabled/disabled in my bios to boot the windows install? secure boot is disabled and legacy boot is enabled.
View 2 RepliesI have a problem in the installation of Windows 10. I have a CD installer of windows 10 pro 64 bit and I want to replace my Windows 8 OS thats why I perform a clean install. But whenever I try to install the OS. I have this error:
"Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software License Terms. Make sure the installation sources are valid and restart the installation."
Can I use switch user option on power option list or on start menu list ?
View 3 RepliesNo system restore point.
What happened is that I installed an app and I accidentally clicked "Install" for a chrome plug-in. It removed some shortcuts on my start menu and I was just "Okay. I'll just pin them again." And at this point I already scheduled a chkdsk for c: so I restarted my PC first. But when I came back I found out that Pin to Start is gone. I removed the chrome plugin and the app itself but still, the problem is still there.
EDIT: Cannot drag from "All apps" list to Start Menu icons area also. It shows a red error circle. And when right clicking a shortcut on the Start Menu, there is no "Unpin from Start"
no matter what I try, I'm unable to pin to start - this is the standard 10240 build. Win 10 Pro (my desktop)
I believe I had the ability to pin in the past but now all of a sudden it just doesn't exist.
I take a lot of photos which I inevitably download and copy to a New Folder where I clicked onto the Slide Show option to initially view them. I attempted to do this with this misbegotten Windows 10 and could find no way to do that now or did I miss something?
View 4 RepliesSeems odd. Lot's of tips about how to turn it off, but I have no option to turn it on, via right-click toolbar > Cortana or via right-click toolbar > Properties > Toolbars, see attached.
View 4 RepliesOne feature I used alot in Win 8.1 was the right-click "Preview" option on photos. I could open them in the viewer without having to launch a full blown editor like Photoshop. So I would use Preview and Open to accomplish two different goals. But now, I noticed there's no more Preview option on the JPG's..
View 9 RepliesI am going to start locking my PC instead of hibernating or switching my pc if I'm only leaving it to stand by for an hour or two (or less), however on my power options from start there is no option to lock it, I have attached the image of what I am presented with.
View 1 RepliesI have a few issues with the Windows 10 install on my Asus X200 laptop and want to rollback to Win 8.1.
However, when I go into Settings/Update and Security/Recovery the only 2 options I have are 'Reset this PC' and 'Advanced setup'. The 'Go Back to Windows 8.1' option is not there.
Is the only option a reinstall of 8.1 from the USB backup I made?
Frankly I would like to be able to customise what used to be the Start Menu. I would like to have the run option available as well as the search option to search files/folders etc, as before.
Right clicking on an empty spot in the start menu doesn't give me anything. I've looked at tutorials on the search bar, but all I have available is Cortana, and hiding her doesn't give me any other search option. I don't use Cortana because I prefer google. Edge takes a very long time to load for me.
I'd also like to add Paint to the Start menu.
I want to refresh one of my PCs. Online info shows that particular option. Mine does not. Only 'Reset', or restore to an earlier build, or Advanced Startup. However, when I click on 'Reset' I have the option of keeping my personal files or removing everything. Is that option specific to Windows 10 instead of calling it 'Refresh'? Also, it's telling me that since I upgraded from another version, I couldn't go back to it. Is it because it would delete my windows.old folder?
View 3 RepliesHere's a screenshot of how the recovery option looks...
View 7 RepliesAfter upgrading to Windows 10 I no longer have any WiFi capabilities. My laptop is HP Pavilion Intel Core i3 which I purchased in November 2014. In Windows - Settings - Network & Internet I do not have a WiFi option listed. However, when I go into Control Panel - Network and Internet - Network Connections I see my wireless service is listed and media state is 'enabled' but states IPv4 & IPv6 are 'not connected'. It is Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160. The MAC Address is 30-3A-64-13-2B-80. When I diagnose this connection I get the following message:
There might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection adapter.
Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter.
Sign in option does not respond in Windows 10. I do not want to sign in every time I use the computer but I cannot change the setting.
View 6 RepliesHibernation is turned on, as shown by the presence of the hiberfil.sys operating system file; however, I do not see the word "hibernation" when I right-click on Start and select "Shut down or sign out."
Also, my APC UPS does not object to the absence of hibernate, which the APC software uses when the battery is getting low; the software notifies me if hibernation is not present. Hybrid Sleep is turned off in Power Options.
A few minutes later, I finally found, here, a tutorial that I understood,, and which worked.
I have a HP computer with built in WiFi access running Windows 10. All of a sudden, I have no option to connect to WiFi, but only have an option to connect with Ethernet. The WiFi options disappeared and I can't find a way to connect without using Ethernet.
View 4 RepliesMy laptop is Acer Aspire 7741z-4806 ... I don't have Bluetooth option in my laptop.
Settings > Devices has no Bluetooth option listed.
I have searched the web and some postings said my particular model does not have Bluetooth included.
Yet, in my Services, there are 2 listings of Bluetooth.
Further question............. is there any Bluetooth program I can download to my laptop? I had run into one called NFC but it did nothing.
When logging on to Windows 10 one of the early screens gives a timed option to select either Windows 10 or Windows Setup. The second option takes you to Windows Boot Manager. Could this option screen is a fixed feature of Windows 10 and, if it is, under what circumstances might one need to select the Windows Setup option.
View 2 RepliesOkay before I go on, I've already reserved my copy of windows 10 before. But I recently just purchased a new SSD for my computer so now I have 2 SSD drives in my computer.I've just done a clean install of windows 7 on my new ssd and I've also installed all windows updates. I've also have a new 2tb hardrive Seagate hardrive in my computer. So am I still able to reserve my copy of windows 10? or am I screwed and yes my windows 7 is genuine
View 1 RepliesI've searched around the internet for a bit and I know the easiest way is to go to Settings>Update&Security>Recovery>Go Back to Windows 8.1
but... I don't have that option. I only see "Reset this PC" and "Advanced Startup". I only just got Windows 10 on August 1st so I haven't passed the 30 days yet. Also, I still have the Windows.old on the C drive. I'm not sure what to do here as I can't find much about this issue.
- It took nearly a week to get my display driver to work properly.. and that was only after I had given up on it. I assume that Microsoft sent out some sort of silent, ninja fix.
- My taskbar stops working at least once a day, can't click on anything.
- Microsoft Edge crashes after being open for not very long at all (10 minutes? ..or sooner if I have 2 tabs open.)
- Unable to install CCleaner as it hangs at about the 50% mark of unpacking.
There are more issues with getting games to start up, but those aren't as important.
I want to migrate my OS from HDD to SSD. Can this be done by restoring the computer and then choosing another drive as destination for the fresh install or will it simply be installed on the same drive as it is restoring from?
View 1 RepliesI just upgraded to Windows 10 and I don't have the option to put my computer to sleep.
My only options are: Do Nothing, Hibernate, Shut Down and Turn Off The Display.
Where has the sleep option gone?
I am enjoying Windows 10 very much, but I don't have the option for the Cortana search bar. When I right click on the taskbar and hover over Cortana, I can only choose between hidden and icon. I tried to change the value in the registry to 2, but that didn't work.
