The 'Snip' is one of my Favourite tools in the Box in Windows 10
As when I'm building a Website for someone, if they have a Photo Online that they would like me to use on their Site, then rather than download it from an email, that 'may' contain a Virus from someone I don't know, I can just 'Snip it' and Paste it, into their New Website.
For some reason I have lost use of the Edit Photo options. How to get it back? I can open the photos just fine. But when I click on the edit buttons it says "Can't edit. We are having trouble opening this file for editing." I have not change my file types or anything else. Tried several different pictures and it just keep saying the same thing. Was working just fine for the last 2 years.
View 1 RepliesI am having problems using the default photo viewer in windows 10. For one thing when I download a photo, I am not given any option on where to save the photo. When I get the photo to open, there is a band at the top of the page which covers part of the photo.
View 5 RepliesEvery once in awhile I lose my desktop which turns black and have no taskbar or icons. When this happens windows explorer appears and my gadgets are still showing and my mouse pointer shows and works. Outlook 2007 is still running ok as I hear incoming emails. My PC has a reset/restart hard button which restores everything back to normal.

View 4 RepliesI'm gonna do a clean install of win10 but I don't want to lose all my files and games and programs etc. I need to do a clean install because I have a custom built pc and people have been having problems with simply upgrading so to prevent those problems I am doing a clean install. So, how to do a clean install to where I don't have to reinstall anything just sign in and it works?
View 1 RepliesI've some AVI and MP4 files with external .SRT subtitles that I'd like to convert to MKV with embedded subtitles (not forced).That way I can forget about the .srt files that don't always play properly on MEZZMO / SERVIIO or PLEX when streaming. The embedded ones always work properly !!.What's the best setting for Handbrake so I don't lose (or lose minimal) quality when re-encoding -- MP4->MKV should be almost a 1:1 copy but I'm not sure of the settings.
the subtitles all work though when embedded even if the original .SRT file didn't when streamed. (VLC always works BTW but I want to play these files on REMOTE DNLA devices).
title says it. every time I turn on the computer, my wifi is always there. when I come back from sleep mode, it is not. no wifi options are available in the network section.
it is not signal strength. I had a slight USB issue, but as I said, I always get wifi when I turn it on, so seems any USB issue would show up when I boot either way..
is the power surge to the USB ports the same whether you boot from off versus from sleep? is coming back from sleep different somehow than powering up from off?
I have a brand new HP laptop that came with Windows 10 home installed on it. I have downloaded and applied all updates from MS.
I use a Wi-Fi connection to my Time Warner router. I have everything setup and things seem to be running fine.
Here's the deal.
I thought I would try and use my blue tooth external speaker. (Just to see what would happen.) I enabled Bluetooth.
StartSettingsDevicesBluetooth.
After I move the slider (so the status reads (On), .... I see a message that reads "Your PC is searching for and can be discovered by Bluetooth devices".
Two things happen:
The "search" never seems to end. And I lose WI-Fi connectivity.
I finally, move the Bluetooth slider to the "Off" position and my Wi-Fi connectivity returns.
I "do" see my external speaker. And it does work. (As long as "Bluetooth" is enabled.)
But of course, I then have no Internet connectivity and THAT becomes an issue for me.
My computer will randomly lose power without warning(or at least that's what it acts like). I'm not sure what is causing it, but I tested the power supply with a multimeter and the voltage is well above the needed amount. when it happens, my CPU is never above 38 degrees Celsius. This happens when plugged into a UPS and when plugged directly into the wall. I don't get an error message, and there is no report about it in the event viewer.
View 3 RepliesI've installed the 1511 update (threshold 2) on my desktop computer. It has always worked correctly with my dual stack IPv4 and IPv6 LAN, with both Windows 8 and Windows 10. Now, after the update, it will initially have IPv6 working after I reboot. Then, after a few minutes, IPv6 will stop working, and I see "no internet connectivity" for IPv6 from the Network and Sharing connection properties, even though the other clients in my house still have IPv6 connectivity.
So far, I've tried using netsh to reset the winsock catalog and the tcp stack, and have installed the latest network interface driver from the OEM. I also tried disabling IPv4, and seeing if the network troubleshooter could get the IPv6 connectivity going. That didn't work, either.
At this point, this behavior is a mystery to me. Right now, no IPv6 on this desktop. If I rebooted the computer, IPv6 connectivity would be restored for a few minutes... How to troubleshoot this one, it's just strange.
I have tried both day light and low light, every time i take image automatically add black/dark transparent layer to the image after the 'adding finishing touches..' thing.
View 4 RepliesI got mine with everything installed. So if I uninstall and reinstall Realtek, I might mess this up more. I don't even know what version I have and I can't understand the terms used in the instructions.
Should I just wait for a system update form Microsoft. Or do I really have to uninstall my audio software?
Most people I've seen usually have appalling (almost unreadable) quality when using an external monitor with an HDMI cable -- it's quite simple to fix really easily. Films / video are usually OK but if you are reading email or doing standard computer work then you want the monitor to give you decent results.
First ensure that the "Sharpness" setting on the monitor is set correctly -- oversharpening makes text etc look terrible.
secondly use something like "Auto size" so the picture size fits the screen properly rather than be slightly too large or small even if say 1920 X 1080 HD is selected.
thirdly use correct frequency for scanning -- in Europe should be 60 or 59HZ - use the "p" choice not the "I" one.
finally use sensibly the smart picture settings if you have one or use colour / tint / contrast / brightness settings properly.
Messing around with these controls really does turn an external monitor from in some cases having an almost unreadable screen to a pleasure to use --even on cheap 22 inch TV's.
Use the monitors own menu - don't do it from the PC display settings.
A typical laptop's video card will be perfectly ok on these types of monitors.
I use an ACER ASPIRE 4736Z laptop running on windows 10 32 bit OS. I have tried many versions of realtek and updated all my audio drivers but still i don't get the option studio quality for the microphone settings in realtek audio manager. Instead i get only CD and DVD quality options. This doesn't work as I always get a hiss when I record using my microphone. I have adjusted the microphone settings in the control panel as well. Need getting the studio quality option for the microphone in realtek audio manager. Find the attached image
View 8 RepliesSo I've just recently upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8.1 and for the most part I have no audio. A few seconds after I started windows 10 I was able to get very low quality audio for about 5 seconds and then it just stopped working. (using mpv with a FLAC file) The only place that the audio works is the realtek audio manager sound test. I've tested other headphones with the computer and they haven't worked either. I've also tested my headset with other devices and it works fine. I've updated windows and installed the latest realtek audio divers and nothing except for the the sound test works. (I'm using an MSI z87 GD65 btw)
View 1 RepliesI have an Insignia 8" tablet that I use to listen to an internet radio station. WiFi connection to my 2Wire 3801HGV router. I have it powered by the AC charger. I have the display to turn off after 5 minutes, never to go into sleep mode when powered by AC. After the 5 minutes the display is turned off, the music continues as expected and will continue for hours. But if I try to do anything I loose my WiFi.Right after the screen is shut off I can enable it again with a stroke. Then the music stops. I no longer have internet access.
Network settings says I still am connected but somewhere the connection is broken. I disconnect from my router and then try to reconnect and it will not. I get, Checking Network Requirements, Can't connect to this Network. The only way I have been able to get connected is to do a restart. I have not found any settings that have been useful. All it should be doing is shutting off the screen. Not go into any other sleep or power down state.
I just installed Windows 10. I'm having problems loading many of the websites I used to visit when I had Windows 8.1 installed. I'm getting the message "There is a problem with this website’s security certificate." with Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge just shuts down when certain websites are accessed, Wikipedia and pbase.com for example.
Also, Facebook won't display any images or allow me to upload images.
How do I upload photos onto an ad on a website.

But since I visit this Site such a lot, it would be very handy to get to it from the 'Task Bar'
I have updated my ThinkPad Helix (1. gen) to Windows 10 as soon as possible, went well, no hassle except to find some drivers, but got them in a matter of days. Anyway, I didn't experience the improvement of performance, I expected, so I went for a clean install. Also because I couldn't get Office365 activated - a glitch, I read about several places, none with other solution than clean install of Windows. And I prefer a clean, virgin, fast and clutterfree installation - until I clutter it again ...
Installation went well, took a little over two hours (with cleaning of SDD), chose to keep no files (but had to start over again, because I wasn't satisfied with the folder structure and user names). But now, up and running again, I'm experiencing lags and holds, when primarily, opening at website with Flash or other things going on, like video or a chat window. The cursor reacts with seconds delay, hardly to control, have to use my fingers to close the browser again. And it's the same, regardless using Firefox, Chrome (this is worst), Edge or IE ...
Closing the window or tab with the problematic page, the computer responds quickly as i would expect it to...
Tried to disable the native flash-player in Chrome, didn't work. Went from Chrome Canary back to regular Chrome, didn't work.
Also I had CPU or GPU (onboard) suspected, but installed all relevant Intel management software, got Lenovo System Update and got system specific software and drivers, but left out the bloatware.
I can vaguely remember same problems, when I went from W 8 to 8.1, but can't remember the problem and the solution. I think, I did a reset, but not sure. Another clean install? Took me hours, so would like to avoid this...
So I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10, and am trying to get the Xbox app working.
When I open it up, I am greeted with a message that says: "There's a problem with your account. To fix it, go to Xbox.com and sign in". I have a valid Microsoft account, that works fine for everything else. None the less, I go to Xbox.com in Firefox, click Sign In, and am greeted by a error screen. I find this odd, because I'm not even logged in yet (I've even wiped my cookies to be sure). It would appear that something on my system is blocking the Xbox login site system wide, hence why It wont work in the app or in a browser.

In Windows 8, we could pin a website to the Start Screen. I have updated to Windows 10 and cannot figure out how do so with the new OS. Am I missing something or is this not possible?

For some reason the google web site icon is there, but I would like to add a few more of web sites I frequently visit.
The right click on a web site URL does not give the option of creating a tile/icon on the start menu.
I am having a problem with adobe Acrobat working with windows 10, a pdf will open if its on my desktop alone standing but if i'm in a website that I want to view a pdf it gives me this message saying a error has occurred something is stopping this pdf from opening. I didn't have this problem with windows 7.....
