I don't know how to downgrade to windows 7. I have tried using my Windows 7 disc, but it won't let me use it to go back. It has been months since i upgraded to windows 10, so i can't just revert back to windows 7 the easy way. I am okay with deleting all of my stuff, I have my product key, and i just wan't to go back.

I upgraded using the basic upgrade from Microsoft the other day. Last night I had to downgrade back to 7 as my laptop just wouldn't do a thing with stalling or crashing. I used the recovery guide and now it seems it's restoring and then when it's done the Dell pic comes up with f1 f2 options changes to the wind 10 sign and then changes again back to restoring your previous version of Windows.

My computer's been a mess since I bought it from a pawn shop. It was working perfectly when I bought it, but when I tried to reset it it crashed and continually started restarting. I fixed it, but after that I found my computer was 32 bit with a 64x bit processor, so I tried to upgrade it to 64 bit but the windows media creation tool isn't working properly so I'm going to try to downgrade to Windows 7 instead.

I upgraded to the latest build (10240) today but managed to enter the enterprise product key by mistake. Is there anyway to change back to pro without reinstalling? I've tried reverting to the previous build but it says the files have been deleted.

I recently purchased a Hp Pavillion laptop pre-installed with Windows 10. I like Windows 10 because it is simple and to the point. However, I am interested in using certain software like StarDock & such, but it is not compatible with Windows 10. Since my computer came pre-installed with Windows 10 I cannot "revert". I have a Windows 7 iso on my computer & I have tried multiple times to run Windows 7. I ran the installer, it prompted me to restart my computer. and there were two bootable options, Windows 10 & Windows setup.

Windows 10 could't see my Seagate GoFlex Home external drive. I tried to find new drivers - nope. I tried to re-install - nope. I initiated the return to Windows 7 without problems. I have two hard drives: C: for programs and E: for Data. The problem is that Windows 7 won't load. I get the logo screen and then the choice to restart normally or not. Nothing works. My computer is useless and even my backed up data is unaccessible.

I installed technical preview and it really turned my lumia 520 to a useless thing. Outlook disappeared and I can't receve or send mails. I have to charge my phone 3-4 times a day as well.
My real problem is windows phone recovery tool does not recognize my phone. That's why I can not downgrade to windows phone 8.1. I have tried other computers, windows 7 and 8.1, other cables. Result is the same. My computer sees my phone but windows phone recovery tool does not.

One night I left my computer on and Windows 10 downloaded and upgraded for literally no reason, and it is without a doubt the most unusable operating system I have ever had installed on my PC. After only a day everything has broken (I must go into task manager to start any app, can't open start menu, horrible FPS in games even with my GTX 970).
Anyway, I don't have a disk or anything for Windows 7 as it was preinstalled on my PC. The option to downgrade in "Recovery" just simply isn't there.

Though I use Macrium for backup but few months back I created a Backup of one PC with Redo and saved the backup directly in pen drive but forgot to format the pen drive in NTFS and it remained Fat32. So the Redo created backup in four parts i.e part2, part3, part4 and part 5 ( I do not know why part 1 is not there) total 7GB. My question is whether Redo will be able to restore the backup from these parts or I will have to first joined the parts which I do not know how?

I was installing W10 and got that black screen with the big white circle. Then, once it restarted. When it booted again, suddenly a screen came up saying "Attempting to Recover Installation" then saying "Restoring your previous version of Windows....". Why does this happen? Is there any way I can change where it boots into?

Bought Windows 10 Pro from an authorized dealer and successfully installed then activated Windows 10 on a standalone PC with the Activation key that came with the CD.
With that same CD I installed Windows 10 on a Laptop I had as well, (an additional machine). Could not activate because the key was already being used on the standalone. Okay fine....went to Windows Store and bought another key...arrrrg. The laptop activation was successful "Windows 10 on this device is activated with a digital entitlement"
So what happens if my Laptop goes south, crashes and burns lets say. I re-install Windows 10 with the CD I have, how is that Digital Entitlement I just bought for the Laptop, going to be applied? Or remembered? Surely I'm not going to have buy another...

I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 back on 8/6 and when everything was looking good I backed up my HD with Acronis TrueImage 2015. Unfortunately, my wife was doing something on the PC that caused the machine to go into a booting loop and I was forced to restore the HD from my 8/7 backup. It appeared that the restore worked well until I tried to re-apply all of the patches and updates to Windows 10 and Office. Each time I have tried Windows Update it returns a 0x8024402f error that only says that something bad happened during the update.
I've run the Windows Update troubleshooter and it fixed Windows Update components, however this does not resolve the issue. I have also ran the internet connection troubleshooter and the network adapter troubleshooter and neither found an issue. I don't believe that this is an internet problem however as I can receive and send mail from Outlook 2010 and I can successfully upload and download files from cloud storage and other websites. I have scanned my system files using the SFC /SCANNOW command and it found nothing wrong.
I have also performed a DISM command and it didn't find anything either. I have also cleared the files from the SoftwareDistrubtion folder and I've re-registered a bunch of DLL's from a list I found but that hasn't resolved anything either. I have also downloaded and have run the Windows Repair tool from www.tweaking.com and it didn't fix the problem either. Part of the problem here is that this is Windows 10 and most of the past posts have been in regards to Windows 7 and Windows 8.x. My gut is telling me that this is some sort of permissions issue or some registry issue that's causing this issue to exists.

I upgraded my system to Windows 10 back on Aug 6th and didn't have any problems until yesterday. I won't go into the details of that issue but it forced me to restore Windows 10 from an Acronis TrueImage backup I had taken on the 8/7. Although the restore went well and Windows 10 is back up and running, I am unable now to run Windows update as each time I do so it give me this 0x8024402F error that says that there was some problem installing updates.
Note that this is not an internet connection error as I can browse the internet and download updates to other apps. I have tried the Windows 10 Troubleshooter for Windows update as an Admin and it says it found a configuration problem and fixed it but I still get the error. I have run various system scans and a CHKDSK and they find nothing wrong. I have searched the internet high and low for a solution this problem but the only thing I find seems to be focused on fixes to Windows 7 and Windows 8.x, not Windows 10.

I recently upgraded to Win 10 on my laptop but it's completely broken. I boot up and sign in ok but then I just get a black screen with a cursor. The only way I can access anything is through the task manager > run new task. I've tried everything but nothing works so I want to rollback to Win 7.
But the problem is that in order to do so I need to access settings which I'm unable to. I can click the link under user controls in control panel but nothing happens. I tried a fix (Settings doesnt launch, or launches the Store instead - Microsoft Community) but it didn't work. There doesn't seem to be any way of accessing it and hence no way of rolling back.

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and now i want to downgrade, because the OS gets more and more limiting with every Insider Build and Update (How do you expect locking the Taskbar texture to not be changed to the Taskbar my Classic,XP Luna, and Aero have?) and for gaming reasons (Minecraft keeps on crashing, due to 10s automatic driver updates). Unfortunatly, with the way MicroLocker provided, since my laptop came with 8.1, Settings only let's me downgrade to 8.1, which is the OS i hated more than 10 (Even though it's limitful, 10 is better than 8). So how can i do that?

I'm thinking about getting a new Dell XPS laptop. It comes installed with Windows 10. I would rather use Windows 7. My question can I format the the new Dell laptop and install a new copy of Windows 7. Or are there too many driver specific components on a new XPS that need Windows 10 to function properly.

I am running a 15.6" Dell Inspiron Laptop that originally came with Windows 8.1. I upgraded to Windows 10 around the first or second week of August. I had no problems for about 3 or 3 and a half weeks, up until about this past Tuesday (9/8/15). That day, I got the infamous memory management error blue screen, after which it reset and all was well...or so I thought. Within six hours, it randomly shut down and restarted itself while I was working on a paper in Word. Later that same day, it rebooted itself AGAIN!!! While it only did that twice, it continually closed out of apps that I was in the middle of using without giving me the opportunity to save whatever I was doing.
I read a couple of places that said people were able to get rid of all of these problems by simply downgrading back to their previous versions of windows, so I tried to go back to 8.1. I began the process of the downgrade, and left it. When I returned a few minutes later, it was trying to reboot in 8.1, but I instead was getting a blue screen saying that windows had encountered a problem and needed to restart...but when it restarted all i would get is another blue screen telling me to either reset again or select an advanced recovery option.

I upgraded to Windows 10 earlier this week and I've had nothing but problems with it, namely that all of the new apps (Mail, Calendar, Microsoft Edge, etc) and a few of my 3rd party programs (namely iTunes) won't open. When I click on them from the taskbar, the Start menu, or Cortana, either nothing at all happens or I get a box that says "Explorer.exe: Element not found" or "RuntimeBroker.exe: Element not found."
After a long time on the phone with Microsoft support, we realized that my computer (Lenovo Ideapad Y580) wasn't yet compatible with Windows 10 because Lenovo hadn't developed the drivers for it yet. They said I should revert to Windows 7 until they create them. Here's the problem though: One of the apps that won't open for me is Settings, which means I can't get to the Recovery page to downgrade back to Windows 7.
Is there some way to downgrade without using Settings?

I recently upgraded my notebook to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and in like 1 or 2 days after my mum used it, it now has a blank screen on startup and you only see the white mouse cursor moving. This is apparant no matter how many times I HARD press the power button to switch it off and switch it back on.
Also, I tried to stick a Windows 7 CD in so I can reformat it BUT as soon as I press the power on button, the option to press Del or F12 to enter bios settings to change boot order does not work?

I need to downgrade to windows 7 again because some of my drivers are only supported up to windows 7, I don't want to bother with compatibility issues on 10. It shouldn't be any trouble but here is the thing. I can't really afford to redownload all my games because I do not have unlimited internet. Is there any possible way for me to keep my apps/games and downgrade to windows 7? Is all hope lost? (Upgrading to 10 was the worst decision ever, also for some reason there is no downgrade option in windows 10 recovery menu) I have my windows 7 disc.
