In Windows 8 simply double clicking an application would open it but after upgrading it to Windows 10, the application doesn't start up unfolds it's opened from the right clicked menu.
When i try opening a folder, an error pops up. That's because cmd is my default action when double clicking. This all started after installing some Windows 10 updates. how to get rid of cmd on my context menu?
I've been able to use a windows feature since Windows 7 (now using Windows 10). If you place your mouse pointer at either vertical edge of a window and double click you are able to expand that window vertically to the edges of the screen.
Where can I toggle this setting in the operating system? I am able to do this on my desktop but for whatever reason, I cannot do it on my laptop. Both systems are running Windows 10. One was a clean install while the laptop was an upgrade so I'm not sure if thats the possible cause or not.
Previously if I double clicked the shortcuts of Steam, Origin and Uplay while they were running instantly maximized their windows. Now if I double click them it takes a long time before they are maximized as if the computer is reloading them from scratch. I also have GOG Galaxy as a shortcut but it does not happen with that icon. What do you think changed?
The only thing that IO think might be related is that I disabled indexing of C drive but I later found that it was not a good idea and changed it back to indexing enabled.
When I want to open some picture in windows 10 photo viewer he open separate window with some album and other stuff, and I don't want that, I just want to see that photo that I open. I am really struggling with this new photo viewer, is there any fix or something to force that photo viewer to just open my photo when I click on her and not the other window with albums too.
So I've been using this Asus K401L with Windows 10 installed for over 3 weeks and it's been working perfectly. Yesterday, my touchpad started to act strange and I was unable to double tap to open folders/icons. It is very strange because, I can double tap and move the touchpad and select all, and even single tap works. It's just that, I can't double tap and open folders. I plugged in my external mouse and I had no issues.
I tried repairing Asus Smart gestures, playing around with mouse properties, but nothing seems to work and I still can't open anything that requires double tap. I can even double tap on an icon and drag in anywhere using touchpad. Double tap to launch/open isn't working and that's the problem.
NOTE: My laptop doesn't have Elan Settings in mouse options.
Things I did yesterday : Using Eclipse, Changed "Control PanelAll Control Panel ItemsPower OptionsSystem Settings" and changed what closing the lid does to "nothing" and after some time I reverted it back to "sleep" and I installed COD Ghosts, which took almost 2 hours to archive.
Is there a way to get WMP to open maximized when I double click a video file, instead of opening just the size of the video? Is this a setting within WMP, like play maximized, or is it a separate command?
My laptop always show the shutdown message again and again and closing my open application immediately without my permission.what should i do to prevent my laptop
Say I set MPV as the default media player. For ALL media types. Then I go into my music library via file explorer and double-click an mp3. It will ask me which app I want to open it in "or keep using MPV".
Even though there's a "Always open using this app" checkbox, it doesn't listen to it and if I shut my computer down or even just log out, it completely resets that open with dialogue... so if I go to double-click an MP3 again, it pops up.
I've double-checked that MPV has control over it's mime types in the control panel (not just the Settings app), and like I said it asks if I want to "keep using MPV". And that's just one example, it does it with my web browser more often than my media player.
I bought Lenovo Y5070 laptop recently with these specs: Intel Corei7 4720, 16 gig Ram, Geforce GTX 960m 4 Gig DDR5, and the second graphic card of intel 4600.
I installed windows 10 on this laptop with the latest drivers but I have a big issue with multitasking, e.g. I can not run photoshop easily when another application is open, it takes time and a lag and small hanging (sometimes) to open the second application (for example media player).
I am having a strange problem with Photos app on my windows 10. Let's say I click the Photos app icon, nothing happens, doesn't even through any error.
viber + win 10 problem ... viber running in background... viber is in the system tray, is in the running program in the task manager, but the program interface does not want to open.... I can not open and use it... was reinstalled without success .. what to do?
When I try and open my store in windows 10 it will just pop up really quick then go away. And when I try and open any of my apps it tells me that they can't be opened and to go to the App Store to fix but I can't open the app store. I have tried every fix out there that I could find and no luck.
I have installed mcafee. The windows button wont open making microsoft edge unusable and a few other things, like the search bar unusable. Any fix for this other than refreshing or resetting or changing or removing any files?? When I right click it a gray menu pops up but if I give it a normal click i get a loading wheel then nothing.
I have a desktop running with a few apps 24/7 feeding to a network, on the rare occasion it drops or restarts due to some update or power outage I thought I could write a simple batchfile just to restart everything automatically.
Problem is 1 app refuses to start, the app itself is in c:program files (x86) and that seems to be the issue. Error message I get is "cannot find c:program"
CyberLink Power Director doesn't open and it says I need to update to a newer version but I don't want to update I just need to open the program to get saved projects. I find out that I can't restore my system back to Windows 7 because I'm over the 30 day period. I would have never updated knowing that windows 10 was going to make me update all my programs. I need to know how I can get it to work or go back to windows 7.
Edge on rare occasions does not open? I have it pinned to the taskbar and on very, very rare instances nothing opens. It's a very easy remedy, either reboot or quicker still if I go into taskmanager and kill the edge process. Then if I click on the pinned taskbar for edge it opens just fine and happy browsing.
I must re-iterate replicating the issue is tough because it is quite rare. Happened yesterday and before that a couple weeks ago. So I'm thinking it's just an 'Edge' thing that happens from time to time.
My start menu doesn't work. clicking on task bar items does not work. (wifi, notifications) opening apps doesn't work. WIN + I or trying to open update from Win + R doesn't work (message "the app didn't open"). Clicking the search doesn't work. Clicking the windows (to the right of search) works.
Just noticed that clicking on this option doesn't open it in file explorer like it does on my Windows 7 machine. I can browse my FTP drive fine from within internet explorer 11. It's not a major issue as I can type the address in file explorer and get it that way. It's just a little frustrating this option doesn't work.
For example when I try to open a .dll file nothing happens. When I right click it, the first option in bold, the default option, is open with. So when i double click that's what I should see, the open with dialogue. What happens is, the window in which the file is located just hangs no matter what i click on it. If I click anywhere outside the window it gets fixed and works normally again, but I still can't get to the open with dialogue because every time I try the same thing happens.
It's also the same if I get to it by right clicking and then selecting it, or if I go to properties to try to choose a default program.
What it feels like is that the dialogue does "open" but it's invisible and doesn't respond to me, since if i click anywhere outside the window that summoned it everything goes back to normal. I'd rather not have to reinstall windows for this.
The windows 10 Mail tile on Start Up when first upgraded open fine and it found my account and synced . A few days later , clicking on it, it moves but doesn't open? How do I open it? Or reset it?
My windows 10 store doesn't open. When I click it, the blue screen comes up meaning its loading but it closes while loading. I had restarted my laptop and it continues to happen.
