Feb 10, 2016There is no drive assigned. I wonder what it refers to? I've checked the registry but can't figure it out. How would I remove it?

I have a 2TB seagate barracuda HDD that is not showing up in:
- disk management
- CMD -> diskpart -> list disk
It does show up in:
- device manager
- bios
- Intel rapid storage technology
Screenshots:
Specs:
CPU: I5 6500
Motherboard: GA-Z170XP-SLI
Windows 10
I also tried switching out cables and ports. Same results.
When I go to disk management and right click on my # 2 HDD to give it a drive letter, it only shows Convert to Dynamic Disk, Properties and Help. change drive letter and paths does not show up ??.
View 1 RepliesWhen I use the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" icon/tool, to remove a USB stick, my internal SSD drive shows as a choice to be removed. How can I get the SSD off this list?
In Device Manager, under Disk Drives, looking at the SSD drive's properties there is no "Removal Policy (i.e. choice of "Quick Removal" or "Better Performance") like the removable hard drive on my laptop has.
under disk management its showing two C drives one with
Healthy (OEM Partition)
Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, OEM Partition)
recently upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10.
upon right click it only showing help.
My WD red 1tb hard drive wont appear on disk management but I know it is being found some how because it comes up under hardware.
View 1 RepliesYesterday I went from Windows 7 to windows 10 with a clean install.
My system based on an ASUS P9x79Pro motherboard has 4 internal disk drives.
The first two, a 500GB SSD for the system and a 2TB spinning disk, are connected to Intel SATA 6G ports and are fine.
I also have two further 2TB data drives attached to the Marvell SATA 6G ports. It is these that are looking unusual.
After installing windows I installed the Marvell driver from the ASUS website for windows 10. However Device manager does not show Marvell under Storage controllers
Both data drives connected to the Marvel controller appear under eject media as removable drives along with something called "Eject Marvell 91xx config"...
One of the data drives (but not the other) appears in File Explorer as a removable drive.
When I insert any removable drive (USB, SD cards, etc) the device shows up twice in Explorer. Once under "This PC" tree and the other as a device. See attached pic (USB Drive H):
I remember hearing about this being the way it's designed to work, but frankly it's a bit silly - I only need to see a single entry for the drive/device...
Is there any way to get rid of one of these entries without stuffing up some other Explorer feature?
The latest windows 10 update caused my computer to no longer recognize my second hard drive. How to get my drive It doesn't show up in disk management either.
View 1 RepliesAfter installing Win-10 with a Flash Drive, The Flash Drive no longer visible either in My PC Folder or in Disk Management Thought this was a Isolated incident, Apparently not as 2 other flash dives i have have also disappeared, Really strange as 1 of the flash drives is less then 2 weeks old, Tried to find them using CMD & Diskpart but noting visible there either .
Flash Drive 1 16GB - Kingston DataTraveler 2.0
Flash Drive 2 16GB - SanDisk Cruiser Blade 2.0
Flash Drive 3 8GB - Was a Gift Dont Know Make 2.0
My Motherboard is USB v3.0 (Incase u need this info)
I have an Epsom A810 printer, connected to desktop PC by USB.
The printer has a USB port for loading pictures to the printer from a thumb drive. Thing is, this port makes the printer show up in Disk Management and My PC as a removable drive.
But it is not a drive at all. I can't access the files on the thumb drive through the printer, so it functions as a phantom drive.
Any method to stop Windows from recognizing the printer as a removable drive?
There is an icon in my tray to "Safely remove hardware and eject media". It is always there (even when no USB devices are plugged in) because Windows thinks my second internal SSD is removable. Is there a config setting or a registry edit to fix that?
View 6 Repliesmy cd drive icon was showing and working then stopped showing up. I did as much research as I could and purchased AVG driver updater and it worked for a few days and won't work again.
View 1 RepliesI've just installed a 3TB Toshiba hdwd130 and it's only showing as 1TB?
I've used 2TB disks before, but this is the first 3TB disk I've tried to use.
The disk controller on the MB is an RS880P.
I've checked and the drivers all appear to be the latest.
I just installed Win 10. First impression is that I'm not impressed with the new design. I think mobile devices are ruining the internet. How do I get to disk management? Is it similar to Win 7? how do I get to Services and Event Viewer?
View 9 RepliesI have a two laptops with Windows 10 x64. Recently I noticed new partition with next available letter. Size is 128mb and it can't be accessed. I checked in Disk Management but this partition is not listed there as per the below screen:
I used MiniTool Partition Wizard and managed to see details about this partition.
I tried Diskpart to remove Drive Letter but no luck:
This happened at the same time on my two HP laptops but not sure what could cause it. Maybe some Windows update? I do not remember installing any new apps. I would like to remove this disk from the list of available disks.
I have received this message about not enough storage on my OC (C: ). So I searched and made changes to some of my files such as MyDocuments. I changed the location of it to my other disk (D: ). However, after a few days I get that message again so I have searched it up again and merging my extra space from other drive into OS(C: ). Perhaps looking at the image attached would explain my situation better than my English
My OC(C: ) Is only 119 GB and its almost full, yet I have plenty of storage in "Disk 2" as my "Data 2" File is empty.
I recently upgraded from Windows 8 to 10. Post upgrade I have just realized my DVD Drive is not observable/findable in the File manager. It is also not observable in the device manager.
It is however, powered up and is recognized in the BIOS Menu as Sata 4 and recognized by the computer as Boot Device one.
The computer will boot from the DvD Drive if I put a bootable DVD (my old windows 8.1 disc in this case) in the drive, I just tested this.
I have a Seagate 1 terabyte external hdd and windows 10 cant see it.. even when I go to C: drive
and display all drives its not showing. its installed drivers but still cant find it....
I have a program that I wanted to install into my Win 10 Pro Machine (64 Bit) and have found that the disk can not be read by the DVD/CD-ROM Drive. I also tried it in another Windows 10 Computer (64 Bit) and it also can't read the disk. The disk worked fine under Windows 7, in both the same computers. The drive works as it reads other CD/DVD's.
The disk is good as it works perfect in an other Windows 7 (32 Bit) and Vista computers (32 Bit). Computer is up to date with builds etc.
I have a DELL-XPS13 Laptop. After upgrading it from win8 to win10, i noticed a restore partition is getting showed up in explorer as Z drive.
When I open Disk Management, i do not see this Z drive assignment to the drive.
I do not know how I can hide this drive.
I have an external hard drive that I have used regularly with a Windows 7 machine via esata
that does not show up when plugged into my Windows 10 notebook via USB.
I can see it under the disk management, but there is no drive letter assigned so I cannot access it.
My old Windows XP Desktop stopped running 2 weeks ago, with a No OS Found error. Since then I've taken the hard drive out and connected it to my new Windows 10 desktop with a USB 2.0 to SATA Adapter. It does not show up in "My Computer", but is detected in Computer Management.
The drive's an old Western Digital WD2000 one, and started clicking (for a few seconds) as soon as I attached it to the PC w/the USB Adapter. The clicking stopped after that.
It shows up as "Disk 1, Unknown, with the amount of data on it (186.31 GB [out of 200]), and is Unallocated. I've already tried numerous utility and Data Recovery programs, such as Recuva, MiniTool Partition Wizard, EaseUS Data/Partition Recovery. No luck with these.
They were either not detected, or didn't find anything. MiniTool Partition Wizard said it's a "Bad Disk" I
Partition Find and Mount is still conducting a scan which has been going for the past 7 hours (35%).
BTW - I really can't leave the hard drive on for the night to conduct a long scan. It's been overheating, and I already have a large fan next to it to cool it down. It's not safe to leave this on for an extended period of time.
Only to find out I bought a USB 3.0 Adapter instead of a 2.0 my old XP supported when It still ran.
Windows keeps putting my Canon printer in device manager under the disk drive. Also puts the printer under printers which is correct. Everytime I uninstall it from under the disk drive location.
It puts it back after a reboot. Also get dump files error on usb port, which the printer uses. Printer works fine, but it should not be put under the disk drive in device manager. only way to stop it, is to turn printer off, before I reboot.
ive noticed lately that the information for hard drivers is totally incorrect, all firmware for drives is up to date, mobo bios is latest but drive info is sque wiff.
View 3 RepliesI've just added a 2nd HD to my Dell system with Win 10. It shows in the BIOS and Seagate tools finds it. It does not show up in Device manager or Computer Management/Storage - Disc Management or anywhere. Not sure if this si Won 10 specific.
