View 1 RepliesI am on Win 10 and can only access the internet with Firefox. When I try to connect with Edge I get the error message "Hmmm, we can't reach this page" and if I try through Internet Explorer I get "This page can’t be displayed". Chrome seems to work along with Firefox, but both will freeze quite often.
View 1 RepliesI have the 64bit Win 10 upgrade installed and I can't look inside the windows temp folder, is there a way I can do this? This is rather weird as with all the other OS's I have use this has not been a problem. It is one of the few things I find in Win 10 that bug me.
View 6 RepliesI just got Windows 10 today and when I did my own stuff, I get Bad Pool Header error messages. It has happened every time when plugging in game controller or accessing internet.
Is my computer not compatible with Windows 10? Or is it something else?
With W8.1, when I plugged my phone (Samsung Galaxy S5) into my PC via USB, a box came up with an option to find pictures and video on the phone.
Now with W10 that option does not come up, nothing comes up but it the phone shows in explorer as a hard drive.
I currently am running a windows 10 computer with a 1 Terabyte WD Black drive. I have a old computer with a windows XP hard drive that has documents I need to access. Is it possible to add the XP drive to a SATA port on my new PC to get those files? Or is not not that simple?
I know the alternative would be get monitor hooked up to the old PC and transfer files.
Working on desktop Lenova computer. I was updating the computer drivers when one of the drivers froze, I click on cancel. I tried the internet and it stated No Internet Connection. I went into Device manager and did the unthinkable. I deleted everything inside the Network Adapters, including the words Network Adapters. In other words, no Network Adapters are showing in Device Manager.
First, I would like to know how can I replace the words Network Adapters in the Device Manager menu, and download the two adapters that were there in the beginning. Lastly, how to get back the Internet to work again.
I open google chrome and it open after that I search anything and its open but then it give google chrome has stop working and its close. The same thing happened with opera and Mozilla Firefox.
View 4 RepliesUnder Windows 10, the favourites I had assembled over the past few years have disappeared.
View 1 RepliesI just got new computer with WIN10. Before that I use win7. I want to set Internet Explore and Google search as my default to use on the internet. Can I do that and how to set it up.
View 10 RepliesA friend that has a 64 bit version of Windows 10. He likes Internet Explorer better than Edge. I have set Internet Explorer as the default browser. In the search bar I typed in Internet Explorer and put a link in the taskbar.
This works fine with my personal computer but on his computer it continuously has a message open that says Internet Explorer has stopped working. Wants you to close the box.
Here are the things I've done:
1, Went in to Internet Properties and reset Internet Explorer. I did this through the control panel. Reset everything. No success.
2. Went in to Windows Features. Unchecked and then rechecked the Box that lists Windows 11. Restarted the computer. That was
supposed to correct it. No success
3. Looked in Add/Remove programs and found no listing either in programs or windows updates.. Nothing.
If I do a system refresh will this correct the problem. I see I would have to reinstall Office 2010. Not sure my friend can find his copy. Is there not a way to just download Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows 10 and over right what is there.
A friend of mine has got a new laptop with Windows 10 on it, he wants it so that Internet Explorer launches when he goes on the laptop.
View 1 RepliesI know a clean install of Windows 10 gives you the Edge browser, but what happens to IE 11 if you upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.1 to Windows 10? Does the upgrade keep your previous version of Internet Explorer and give you the Edge browser or is the previous browser removed?
I have an app that requires ActiveX and on a fresh install of Windows 10 I was able to download IE 11 and access both browsers. It would be nice if the Internet Explorer instance is left installed on an upgrade.
trusted installer will not let me delete internet explorer..I want to delete it because it apparently has conduit infecting it winpatrol and Malwarebytes find it and take it out but it is still there apparently reinstalling itself
View 3 RepliesI managed to see my friends Windows 10, Home edition, manage to get another problem now.
I did try to change the default browser i.e. change Windows Edge to Internet explorer.
However when I clicked on change browser, internet explorer was chosen, nothing seem to have changed, all I seen was edge browser.
There was no IE11 in the open All Apps.
When I went to Microsoft webpage to download internet explorer 11 a message said I have the latest Internet explorer installed.... still cant get internet explorer to become default web browser.
When I first upgraded IE was OK but for some unknown it has become very slow.
View 5 RepliesI successfully installed 14257; however, I have nothing but problems with it. I cannot get Internet explorer to work. It freezes up, cannot use the back or forward arrow, cannot change addresses, and at one time I received an error message saying something about a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime error message. I looked in my installed application files, Visual C++ is there, I ran a 'repair' on it, and the repair reported it installed without problems. I also cannot open most of the windows applications (Edge, Feedback, etc) then I cannot open any applications as the 'window' button freezes up. I have been able to run sfc /scannow, which reports no issues found and all system files are intact. I am destined to scrap the insider preview on this computer. It works on my laptop but the laptop is too slow and cumbersome to use. while Internet explorer will not work, it does open and I can view web pages but only those that are already on MSN (my home page). I cannot resize IE, nor can I move it anywhere else on the desktop.
Update: I went to Microsoft, downloaded Visual Studio C++ for Windows 10 that didn't get installed. The install seems to have corrected my problems. I can now open IE, EDGE, Feedback, and my start button works again.
I have 1 desktop and 2 All In Ones which I am trying to configure to W10. I just changed the desktop to IE using the switch under the three dots where it says open with IE. I tried to do the same with this AIO and that switch doesn't work. I attempted to reset the default from Edge to IE but I can't find a IE default.
View 4 RepliesThis seems to be happening to quite a few people on Windows 10 it seems. It has started happening to me too lately. It happens when, say, I have one tab open to the forums, and I open another to get an image from Bing Images to make a point, or just for fun(those who know me, know what I mean, when I use GIF's), I download the image fine, then either switch tabs back or close the Images tab, then BAM: "IE has stopped working collecting information".
So I looked at the crash logs in Reliability History, and found out that it's iertutil.dll that seems to be the culprit:
Normally that could mean either the .dll is corrupted and needs to be replaced, OR, somehow got moved to the wrong place(accidentally drag & dropped while "surfing" File Explorer, happens to me sometimes), and needs to be moved back.
So I tried going into File Explorer and and searching the Windows folder. After about 8 minutes it was still searching (Hello! I have a Samsung 850 Pro I expect a little more speed !!!) . So I opened up UltraSearch, pasted "iertutil.dll" in and immediately got this:
as you can see, the path(s) are correct, but I see there are a few WinSxS files also. There could be a possible corruption there, is what I'm hoping.
What I'm going to try, is, cleaning out the Side by Side folder so well as I can using Disk Cleanup and the Extreme version of SFC-DISM:
fsutil resource setautoreset true c:&fsutil usn deletejournal /d /n c:&Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup&&sfc /scannow&Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth&sfc /scannow&Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase&pause
Internet explorer 11 will not open, did an upgrade from 8.1 to 10 home edition. I have run a repair install & dism /restorehealth , unchecked ie 11 in programs & features rebooted and still nothing.
View 7 RepliesI use my computer in a business. For one of our companies I have to use Internet explorer. When I go to the form I want it takes me to the edge browser for some reason and it not typeable. The other two computers in our office work just fine.
View 4 RepliesI need to be able to automate some settings in Windows 10 for our organization. I am looking for set the Default Browser to IE11 instead of Edge using the registry.
View 1 RepliesI upgraded to Win10 yesterday, with no problems. The problem I am having is prolly minor to some. I primarily use Google chrome browser, and rarely IE. I noticed my problem first in google chrome. I have a screenshot of it, but not sure how to upload it into this forum.... keeps asking for a URL. So far, I've tried fixing the issue through Internet Options, and through settgins in google chrome.
View 1 Repliesstill using internet explorer at times, but my favorites are old, and I want to delete them all, and import my current ones from Cyberfox, but cant find any info on where these are kept now..
View 3 RepliesHow do I set up favourites in internet ex 11 on W 10.
View 2 RepliesThe Edge browser, which is working fine in most respects, keeps offering to build a Favorites list by importing the Favorites from Internet Explorer. When I accept, Edge indicates that it is importing the data, but when I look at the Favorites in Edge, there are only folders, no URLs. I know the Favorites list is OK in IE because I have transferred it to Chrome and to Firefox without difficulty.
