Drivers/Hardware :: Constant Audio Crackling And High Pitched Hum Sound
Aug 22, 2015
Every time I reboot it seems I lose my audio on my sound blaster x-fi titanium pci express sound card. Also; it seems like every time I turn my audio controller off for awhile then back on; i get at high pitched hum sound and then when i try and play something I get crackling audio. What the heck is up with windows 10 and these issues? Ive never had these problems with my sound card under windows 7.

It seems that there are constant issues with windows 10 and sound blaster sound cards like mine. I have a sound blaster x-fi titanium pci express sound card and every time i turn off my speaker controller(unit with volume and adjustments for sub, center and rear speakers); then turn it back on after awhile; it gives me a high pitched hum noise and the audio comes out all garbled and crackling.

I have a Fangbook III made by Cyperpower PC. I am unable to play sound via the on-board speakers for the laptop. I am however able to play sound through the 3.5mm auxiliary jack input. I have speakers set as default device under the playback settings.
This is where is gets strange. Whenever I attempt to delete the Realtek audio driver, whether it is through windows or a 3rd-party driver uninstallation software, Realtek always comes back within a few seconds. Right before it does come back, under playback, it separates speakers and headphones with both having the driver High Definition Audio Device. If I hurry before the Realtek driver comes back the speakers seems to work! But once the Realtek audio speakers comes back, the default speakers and headphones goes away and I continue to have the same problem with the Realtek driver.
I attempted to reformat the computer with windows 10 and erase all drivers but Realtek was already installed. I assume it is required for this specific laptop? How to direct the Reaktek High Definition Audio driver to use the speakers instead of the auxiliary jack?

I have Realtek Audio HD driver for sound installed on windows 10. For about a week, my laptop ran with no problems. However, last night there was no sound output into my headphones. I unplugged my headphones, plugged them in again. Still no sound.
I tried my headphones on different computers and phones and sound worked normally. I then tried a different pair of headphones on my laptop and no sound was coming out. The speaker is still functioning normally.
I have since restarted my laptop multiple times, and each time I restart a message saying that "You have changed your settings in BIOS setup. Would you like to restart your computer to apply these changes?"pops up.
Sometimes, my headphones somehow come to life, and sound is able to be played. However, when this occurs there is a lot of background static noise, although the sound quality itself is very good.

I have been up all night and morning now, trying to get my sound to work properly. But without any success.
I keep getting some noise / crackling as any kind of sound plays (even Windows tones), and I cant figure this out any more.
I reinstalled via. Device Manager, tried another driver (won't let me install, says Windows found the newest and best tho)
I'm about to give up on this Windows 10 already, seems like this is a huge problem, but to Realtek tho.
I have a Asus Rampage Extreme II with the SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD, and I tried literally everything.

I've been having an issue with my sound were it starts stuttering after some time for no reason. I've downloaded LatencyMon and it showed me that wdf01000.sys goes over 50ms after a couple of hours while ACPI.sys can go higher than 1ms. They both got high DPC with wdf driver going off the scale.
So obviously the culprit is wdf01000 driver. I wanted to know if there is a way to found out which program or hardware uses this driver? Using trial and error method i've found out that it is probably a software program called LCDHost which displays temperatures, weather, loads and other settings on my g19s keyboard LCD screen but its kinda hard to believe that it would cause this issue.
Also i couldn't find out what ACPI.sys does besides being related to power management or bios. I've got a warning number 15 in my windows event log saying that BIOS is trying to access EC embedded controller and an error 56 related to "Application Popup" which mentions ACPI. I don't think that ACPI.sys is causing any issues but it is the second highest latency culprit.

Macbook pro early 2011 bootcamp was not willing to let the SSD run in AHCI mode in windows 10, so I did EFI installation of windows 10. Everything seems to work but the audio card.
Code: This device cannot start. (Code 10) in the High definition audio controller.
I tried installing the drivers manually and automatically and from the bootcamp but this error persists.
Is the problem in the EFI implementation of the macbook pro early 2011 that windows cannot read , or is it related to drivers ? I downloaded latest videocard Intel HD 3000, and realtek generic driver. The audio drivers seems to be from currus logic.
On Bootcamp install (BIOS) the sound card works fine, but in EFI it can not start the driver.

At first everything seemed fine. Everything was working, I only needed to upgrade the VGA driver. I have a xonar D1 card with uni-xonar which worked immediately.
Than when I listened to music I noticed clicking and stuttering which got really horrible after while.
Talked about it on hydrogenaudio: Clicking, stuttering after upgrade to Windows 10 - Hydrogenaudio Forums
I clean installed VGA, updated the LAN driver, re-installed xonar. Things improved but they still suck. Clicking is still a regular occurrence.
I checked latency when LAN and the soundcard was disabled but latency still sucked:
Since I was using the very same hardware for years without these issues and I have doubts that several hardware or their drivers suddenly started misbehaving I'm guessing it might be an issue in win10 itself.
I attached the latest measurements. (screenshots and report) The worst values still belong to the same as the first time: VGA, soundcard, LAN, USB, ntoskernel

So up until this morning my Windows 10 desktop has been performing really well. When the machine is idle the CPU use is only in the 1-3% range.
For some reason my idle CPU use is now CONSTANTLY 30-40% (even after a reboot)! Task manager says its "Service Host: Local System (15)". If I expand this process in task manager it lists:
Why is this happening all of a sudden? I have all Windows Updates installed and I run an i7-3770 CPU.
My machine is now slow/sluggish with 30-40% being hogged by these services!
I don't have any Malware installed as I run Malwarebytes Premium and the scan comes back clean. Some goes for a full anti virus scan.

I just upgraded my ASUS Laptop from Win 8.1 to Win 10 X64. (It has Via HD Audio)
Initially, sound worked but the microphone didn't. I fussed with many settings but nothing seemed to work.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, then the mic seems to work but sound doesn't.
Some of the events that I have encountered are: One message said "Windows has detected that Audio enhancements for the following device are causing problems". I disabled all enhancements but nothing changedBased on other posts, I tried to change the default format to 16 bit and other Hz. Nothing worked.I tried to play a test tone in the speaker setup and got the message "Failed to play test tone".I tried to update the drivers but was informed that I had the latest drivers
I went to the VIA web site to look for new drivers but there are none listed for Win 10.
Is there something else that I can do or is it just a matter of waiting for new VIA drivers? (VIA HD Audio is such a common audio chip that I find it hard to imagine that VIA and Microsoft haven't solved the driver problem - particularly given the Insiders Hub process!)

So I just updated my Toshiba laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and now I'm having audio problems. At first after I upgraded I had no sound. I fixed it by uninstalling and reinstalling my Realtek audio driver. Now I got my sound back, but now whenever I play audio the sound isn't clear anymore Especially when I use YouTube. I updated my Realtek audio driver from version 6.0.1.7541 to 6.0.1.7586 and I still hear the buzzing! I tried audio troubleshooting and it said the problem couldn't be identified. What do I do?

Drivers: Conexant smart audio HD
The picture below pretty much sums up my problem, in all previous versions of windows i have had this tab enabled with various options to further enchanement any sound i hear with my headphones. However, it seems dolby has it's own horrible version (unless im using it wrong) as a headphone user i find the sound to be a lot worse in quality with dolby's enchancments, in fact when i switch it off the sound is way better.

I have homebuilt core i7 930 running an asus p5 premium. Whether I use onboard sound (realtek), sound blaster pcix titanium, or sound blaster omni usb, I get strange behavior where the sound will drop out while I'm watching a tv app (hdhomerun, or kodi as well), or listening to music.. at random times, could be 5 minutes, could be 45 minutes. To get the sound back, if I click the speaker icon and click the bar that plays the windows ding, it plays (a little crackly during the first few milliseconds, then clear, like it's waking up) and then sound plays normally until this happens again. So it's propagating through multiple different drivers. I read somewhere that audio devices can sleep (I suppose laptops mainly? Maybe I read it wrong).

So I've just recently upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8.1 and for the most part I have no audio. A few seconds after I started windows 10 I was able to get very low quality audio for about 5 seconds and then it just stopped working. (using mpv with a FLAC file) The only place that the audio works is the realtek audio manager sound test. I've tested other headphones with the computer and they haven't worked either. I've also tested my headset with other devices and it works fine. I've updated windows and installed the latest realtek audio divers and nothing except for the the sound test works. (I'm using an MSI z87 GD65 btw)

My laptop does not want to recognise the sound card/audio driver that are built into it. The fun part is this just happened. Audio played yesterday, and the time before that, and even before the upgrade. The only thing that has changed (or at least is the biggest change i can think of) is downloading and installing Cygwin (sans audio packages). In trying to play a song on the new microsoft Groove, i get this;
Further inspection in the playback devices, the only two options are the Speakers/Headphones and communications Headphones, the former of which i can only assume is my actual computer speakers (otherwise its completely gone!).Looking at the device manager, everything seems okay. All the drivers are up to date so im not sure what could be wrong there?
Its Windows 10 pro (upgraded from Win7 Pro) and the computer is a Dell Precision M4600. (I am pretty sure the audio driver is in the device manager image).

I am using windows 10 on an asus g750 laptop, with realtek audio manager. I use headphones and have to keep my volume levels around 4-10. Otherwise they are to loud and hurt my ears. At roughly 20 you can hear the audio clearly from 6 inches to a foot away. Is there any way to re-balance my audio? or set a new maximum? or should i try to uninstall realtek?

My problem I believe is Windows 10, I've googled like no other but I can't seem to fix the issue. I set my PC up for easy wipes, because of this I did clean installs of 10 then to 7 and then back to 10. Windows 7 did not give me this issue. So onto the issue: I get weird popping sounds in my headset and what I can only describe as momentary episodes of extremely rapid stuttering, there is FPS drops that I can see sometimes, not sure if it's the stutter or par to the issue. Sometimes I can open up a game like League or Warframe and not have any issues. Sometimes the issue will pop up mid-game, late-game, or simply just randomly. I can be watching youtube at my desktop and it will start. Sometimes it starts with Windows.Just to be clear, the sound issue is on W10, I didn't have this issue on 7. I am nearly 100% sure it's not the headphones as they sound absolutely glorious in 7 and sometimes with 10 (when the issue isn't happening). Some issues that I don't really think are related but I've noticed since the upgrades:
- On W7 I had some start-up issues, happened 2 or 3 times, didn't stick long enough with 7 to find out.
- In some games, the resolution is messed up in that I've got a box that my mouse cannot pass that is smaller than my resolution (resolution is set to 4k). I can see the entire game, but my mouse can only go so far. This is fixed by restarting the program (sometimes).
- Watching Twitch in full screen drops FPS.
- Something that makes me wonder if W10 hates 4k resolution is that VERY often programs like TeamSpeak and Steam don't stick to where I place them.
They'll be reset in random locations throughout my desktop.I think it has something to do with Creative. I've heard a lot of talk about how great their tech is and how poor their software is.

I've got a really weird problem with my sound on my PC. Whenever i try to listen to anything on my computer using headphones, i can hear the music/background noise perfectly clear, but when the volume is High, sound stop for 2/3seconds, and couple of seconds sound - and again. Headphones are new and I do not use Realtek.

I'm having an incredibly frustrating issue with my sound where it randomly, for no reason that I can find,- stops working completely. I've reinstalled my audio drivers, ensured they're up to date, I've run chkdsk's and done just about everything short of a reinstall, but no dice.
When the audio breaks, spam-disabling and re-enabling the speaker in Playback devices will occasionally solve it for a few more minutes before it eventually breaks completely again, forcing me to reboot. This happens every once every 20-40 minutes, with no pattern or any trigger that I've been able to find.
The bars in the volume mixer are still moving as if sound is playing, the in-built Windows 10 audio troubleshooter can't find any problems, and my music player keeps playing music etc. as usual. The only indicator that the sound has stopped working (beyond the obvious lack of sound) is that youtube videos get choppy and start stuttering.
Here is what my Device Manager shows in sound and audio; [URL] .... Note that disabling/enabling High Definition Audio and Realtek Audio in various combinations does nothing to fix the issue.
Here's my dxdiag log [URL] .... I'm using Windows 10, and my motherboard is an Acer FMP55

The Conexant HD Audio Sound Driver was replace by High Definition Audio Device after i update to Windows 10 Home Version 1511 from 1011
Now if i want to plug my earphones to the left side of the computer where the audio jack socket is located the sound does not transfer to my earphones except i will change the default sound device from speakers to headphones.
How can i set it to automatically when i plugin my headphones/earphones/external speaker automatically transfer the sound to this device without changing the settings?
