View 9 RepliesWhen I go to Control Panel > Devices & Printers, it takes a good 20 seconds for the progress bar to move across the window and the Devices & Printers window to open.
View 7 RepliesI have a problem with my iPhone 5s/iOS 9.2.1 in Windows 10 Pro x64 Build 10586.71, as shown in the pictures:
Although everything works OK, i.e.
-iTunes v.12.3.2.35 recognizes it, backs it up and syncs it
-I can see its content from Windows Explorer
-and in Device Manager has the latest drivers for both Apple iPhone & Apple Mobile Device USB Driver
The iPhone is shown in "Devices and Printers" under Unspecified Devices.
How can I remove an unspecified device in printers and devices. The unspecified device was a result of a failed attempt to add a printer. It won't allow me to uninstall it, I did remove an error in the device manager but that didn't do anything. Right clicking has no effect.
View 2 RepliesThe printers do not show in "device manager" but they appear in Devices & Printers. If I select it and click on "remove" it temp goes away but reappears again later.
View 5 RepliesI've just upgraded to build 10240 and have found I cannot access Devices and Printers and I need to install a new printer driver as well as remove unwanted drivers for devices I do not have. I've tried all sorts of ways to access the dialogue but none of them work. I've tried accessing it via Settings|Devices, the Control Panel, the USB icon in the System Tray and the Run dialogue entering control printers. Nothing has worked. The previous build (10162) worked OK but now I just can't access Devices and Printers whatever I do.
View 1 RepliesToday I noticed an eject media icon on my task bar, and when I click on it, it shows an option to eject my gtx 970 which is plugged into the motherboard, should I be worried and is there anything that can be done?
I am using windows 10 as my operating system, as well as the latest nvidia drivers.
Laptop Samsung NP300V5A. Sound stops working about a month after Win 10 upgrade. No changes done at the time.Audio devices show up under Device Manager, but not under Playback/Recording Devices. Same for Realtek Sound Manager - it doesn't see the devices. I can install, delete and update drivers under Device manager but it doesn't make any difference. It is not a physical problem, tested on Linux live CD.
Solutions tried:
-Installing various versions of HD Realtek Drivers (including windows update version)
-Installing/Removing Realtek software.
-Enabling/Disabling devices under Device Manager
-Called spirits of ancestors. Seemed like it worked for a while, but ended up being a joke.
-Did system restore to various dates.
-Restarted in safe mode
-Restarted various services such as Windows Audio, Windows Audio Endpoint Builder, Plug'n'Pray, Power, etc.
-Checked system, application and driver even logs.
-Tried a couple of registry fixes. Angered spirits of ancestors. Turning gray..
-Reinstalled chipset drivers
-Rebooted about 30 times
-Sound Device Troubleshooting finds no issues
-Display Disabled Devices is enabled
Windows 10 is very slow to detect all USB devices I connect to it, whereas Windows 8.1 was nearly instant.
Since upgrading, it takes about a minute for Windows to realize that I have connected a device to it.
Reading this [URL] there is a troubleshooter which I have downloaded and run. According to that there are drivers for my HP 710C and D1460 printers waiting at windows update but it is not downloading and installing them.
I have enabled automatic driver installation and wu is set to automatic, yet no drivers.
I have two common home printers, Lexmark inkjet and HP laserjet on a home network, and when I upgraded from W7 to W10 they were not installed. The W10 network scan brought up nothing, even though both printers were switched on and 'awake'. Even with the laptop placed right next to the printers, still nothing! So I now have no way of printing and no way of installing a printer!
PS: I also have blurry fonts, and I see from this forum and the web in general that that's a whole separate world of grief!
I have had to reinstall my wireless printers everyday for the last couple of weeks. I upgraded to Windows 10 in December of 2015. I'll get the message that no driver is installed and that they are not connected to the network. One is an HP Officejet 8600 all-in-one & the other is an HP Envy 100 D410. I have had these printer a fairly long time with no problems. Now I have to go to the HP site & reinstall the drivers every day & then run the installation process again. I use their IP addresses when installing them.
View 7 RepliesQuite often (60% of the time) clicking on Windows Explorer results in no action whether from the tool bar or from the Windows screen for a very long period of time. There is nothing showing to determine if there is a background program causing Explorer to wait. When it eventually opens, more than one screen comes up because the impatient among us have clicked more than once (personal problem). I often start by going to Explorer for a file I was working on so this is a real pain.
View 2 Repliesso before I wiped my entire PC the sound was working flawlessly - I would use the audio inputs for the Razer Blackwidow Chroma and it would work perfectly.Since the reset however, no sound has been discoverable, I get a red x on my speaker, and it says "No audio drivers installed" on "Playback Devices" I have tried putting my headphones in every audio jack on my PC (front, back and keyboard) and it still isn't picking my headphones up, I have installed the latest drivers and still no joy.
View 1 RepliesWindows 10 should find new drivers through the update mechanism, which doesnt work always though. And if you go into device manager and click on a device and do a look for new drivers, it always finds new ones with a high chance. But it' just stupid to click all 100 devices single through. Isnt there a smart way to do this? Why isnt there an option for search and download all devices drivers.
View 7 RepliesWindows 10 explorer is getting slower and slower to open. I'm now up to 20 seconds and then another 15 seconds to open a website. Tried system restore, troubleshoot and removing addons but to no affect. Worked fine in Windows 7 and initially after downloading Windows 10.
View 1 RepliesI gave up on trying to do a clean install, so I just deleted every single program in control panel.
All of my drivers were either automatically updated or I was able to update them myself.
These three are listed as unknown. The drivers won't update.
I ran the Intel Driver Update Utility, and it said no drivers found.
I checked the Asus driver page, and the driver list barely had anything at all.
Pretty sure these are named something like thermal, collaborative, and something else.
I've been using Win10 since the general release. This was an update install on a Win7 laptop.Apart from a few issues (waking from sleep on scheduled tasks, lack of control on updates) I have a problem with external devices.
If I use several USB flash drives/harddrive I'm able to eject one or two but then I can't eject any others. When this happens I don't get the menu option to eject/safely remove the device through "explorer" and the drive doesn't appear in the "safely remove" icon on the task bar. I can still access the drive without issue just don't have any way to eject except to shutdown the laptop. If I reboot the laptop but leave the device attached the eject option reappears.
The laptop is fully patched and I can't work out what is happening and google hasn't revealed any similar problems except the normal "device is in use" message.
Since my PC was updated to Windows 10 I have been having trouble with USB devices not working. It appears the drivers do not load or do not work. Example is my Saitek rudder pedals. They appear to be fully installed and appear in the device list but they do not work. I go into the device manager and update the driver to the exact same driver and it works. I plug in my iPhone and it is recognized as an iPhone but appears in the Other Devices with a yellow exclamation. A check and it says there are no drivers. Manually find the drivers and update them and it is good until I pull it out. Next time I plug it in same thing. Phantom 3 pro wont show the disk drive and have to load in a generic disk drive driver and all good. This list goes on.
View 1 RepliesMy external hard disks , and one MP3 player (all USB devices) are no longer recognized, nor appear on "This PC", after I upgraded my Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 OS. Other devices, such as my Android phone USB connection still works well. I made sure that the "Automatic download of driver software for devices" is turned on in the Device Installation Setup.

I purchased this laptop some months ago using Windows 8.1. I had so many problems and hated the OS so much I upgraded to Windows 10. I have found that some devices I plug in via USB work just fine but some do not. It seems that the more sophisticated devices do not work.
I have a few HDDs from old laptops that I have put into caddies - these work fine connected by USB. However the following do not work at all when connected by USB.
* Nook Glowlight
* Samsung Galaxy S3
* Toshiba Stor.E HDD
* CBA Digital HDD
They all light up indicating that they are charging however there is no drive registered in This PC, nothing appears in Devices and Printers, nothing that I can find anywhere that indicates that the PC detects a thing. There are no error messages or notifications. This is true for all the USB ports.
I've tried a few things over the last few weeks for each device as I've learned that another doesn't connect but I think it might be best to start from scratch and assume nothing about how far I have got. I'm finding ways round connecting the Galaxy and there's nothing too pressing right now on the HDDs that I need to access.
When starting up my laptop this morning, my wireless mouse didn't work. I replaced the battery, still didn't work. Tried on another computer, the mouse did work. I went to look in device manager, the mouse wasn't detected by the laptop. I tried to connect my external harddrive, it got power but also wasn't detected by my laptop. Everything worked fine yesterday.
View 2 RepliesI have once again run into a problem with W10, and it's getting very frustrating with all these errors and malfunctions that W10 has. The problem is that when I plug a USB-device in my computer, no sound is being played to signal that the USB-device has been recognized, and that really seems to be the case. I can't even use my mouse.
I believe the problem started after the latest update for Windows 10 which took place about one day ago. Otherwise what could cause this kind of error.
I have been also wondering if it is possible to downgrade my laptop back to Windows 8. Windows 10 is clearly a very unstable OS released in a hurry and I have encountered the most bizarre problems with it, including Sony Vegas Pro 13 not launching any more.
How can I disable WPD devices Write Access on Windows Home Editions because there is no GPEdit.msc on Windows Home Editions.
View 3 RepliesMy Taskbar no longer has the devices icon, the one which allows you to 'safely remove a device' such as a USB drive. What happened to it. I hoped re-booting might bring it back but it has not. How do I recover it?
View 2 RepliesI've upgraded my ASUS U36SG from Windows 8.1 Professional to Windows 10 Enterprise. Everything went fine unless the issue "no audio output devices are installed",
I've tried almost all the solutions for that problem in other similar threads without any success.
Consider that now, in my Device Manager I can see this (OS is in italian):
Both Microsoft and Realtek HD Audio Driver up to date to their last version.
But, no audio (or microphone) device:
I also write to ASUS and they first suggested me to install a legacy version of the Realtek Audio Driver (v 6..0.1.7503) then to rollback to Windows 7 Pro (I'm not joking...)
How to get my laptop to have its sounds back?
