Sep 30, 2015Do I need to reinstall my drivers after resetting my PC?
View 3 RepliesDo I need to reinstall my drivers after resetting my PC?
View 3 Replieswhy my print spooler keeps shutting off since i loaded W10. I have a HP ENVY and have tried to run both printers that worked prior to the install. Both work on the other laptop that isnt running W10.
View 3 RepliesWhen I install modem MMX310G 3G USB MANAGER in windows 10, it shows driver installation failed and when open this app it shows no devices.
View 2 RepliesJust upgraded but now my second monitor isn't working and when i go to update my driver i get this
View 8 RepliesSo I tried to update from Windows 8 to 10 last week. That didn't work for me, so I had to format everything and install Windows 10 afterwards. At first neither W-LAN nor LAN would work. Then I un- & reinstalled the W-LAN driver so now everything's fine except for my ethernet connection.
- Adapter is enabled
- I have un- & reinstalled the driver multiple times (even tried compatability mode, since some sites state that the latest version for AR8161 only supports win 8)
- I was about a thousand times in the properties menu of the ethernet adapter
The full name of the adapter is "Qualcomm Atheros AR8161 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30)"
I just ran diagnostics on the ethernet adapter and after trying to fix some network protocols Windows prompted me with this. So I tried to fix this by entering
Code:
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
Code:
sfc /scannow
Code:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Code:
sfc /scannow
In cmd which sadly didn't do the trick. Neither did entering
Code:
netsh int ip reset c:
esetlog.txt
in cmd (admin ofc) after editing the permissions for the "26" folder in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Nsi/{eb004a00-9b1a-11d4-9123-0050047759bc}
So the group "everyone" has "full control".
I am still stuck here w/ the "One or more network protocols are missing on this computer" -problem.
Need to install a printer driver from a cd but have a message : action blocked and have to contact admin. i m the admin and. the pilote is not on Samsung web site. how can unblock the config of win. 10 to be able to insall the driver.
View 1 RepliesThis is not exactly win 10 specific question, i had same problem in win 7, but now that i'm on win 10, that problem is still there. Here's what's going on:
I have high-end gaming PC with GTX 980 and 4k monitor and 1080p monitor as secondary.
4k Monitor is connected via DisplayPort and other monitor is using HDMI
Both of those monitors have built-in speakers (actually i don't think 1080p monitor has speakers)
But here's the problem, windows 10 keeps automatically installing HDMI audio drivers and 50% of the time when i boot my system, all my software defaults to the stupid HDMI sound.
This is extremely annoying and i'm about to pull my hair out over this. All my media players default to monitor audio, even tho windows does not select it as "default device".
Also even tho other monitor doesn't have speakers, system still thinks that the monitor has speakers and sets it as audio device.
Also when i record gameplays using shadowplay or other recorder, lot of times there's no audio on videos, because screen recorders also default to that dumb hdmi audio. I can't be bothered to check audio every time i do something.
I really need a way to tell windows 10 to STOP doing that. Here's what i've done so far:
1. under playback devices, i have DISABLED both of the monitors as playback devices.
2. I have tried uninstalling + disabling drivers for both monitors in "device manager"
3. i used local group policy to force windows not to install drivers (gpedit.msc > administrative templates > system > device installation), then i grabbed the group ID from device manager and entered it there to prevent windows from installing drivers for any audio groups.
After step 3, drivers were not installed, but windows still shows both monitors in "playback devices", only difference is that in device manager it says that this device does not have drivers installed, but they're still showing up in "playback devices", therefore all my software is STILL able to use them as playback and some of my software, like winamp, still defaults to them.
Forgot to mention, that if I disable both of them in playback devices, windows automatically re-enables them at some point. probably at boot, but i can't be bothered to check every few seconds, i just want windows to STOP trying to tell me what's best, i like my Asus STRIX 7.1 headset + 7.1 Hi-Fi home theater speaker system, i don't need some tiny jurassic stereo speakers lol.
I want to punch whoever made this feature. I mean .. what kind of an caveman would buy high-end gaming PC with GTX 980 + 4k monitor and NOT have a proper sound card + headset? Did those low-brainers in microsoft seriously think that anyone using high-end gaming PC, would like to use HDMI as primary audio? that's just ridiculous!
I think my only option is to force windows to think that i'm not using HDMI so it won't even detect my monitors as audio devices, is that possible.
I've repeatedly attempted this, but always get "An error occurred during setup. Restart your computer, then run setup again". This is an all too typical message you can find associated with many Epson products.
I've tried:
-Clean boot
-Safe mode (install enabled)
-Using an Epson removal tool I finally obtained after my 5th chat with Epson.
-An Epson fix deleting temp folder and looking for setup.exe that never appeared.
-Manually removing all Epson folders and registry entries I can find.
-Disabling firewall and AV
The same CD installed ok on my 6 year-old laptop (both run Windows x64).
I've run SFC /Scannow - ok
At best, the scanner is recognised as being connected when plugged in, and appears with a yellow trangle under 'Other Devices' in Device Manager.
I bought a used PC that came with Windows 10, upgraded from Windows 7. There are still files and such left over from the previous owner so I wanted to do a complete reset of windows 10 and return to factory defaults. The problem is that when I go to settings/recovery and choose the option "Reset this PC" nothing at all happens. I push the button and I can tell it is thinking a little bit, but then nothing at all happens. The PC is functioning as normal, it just won't reset.
So 2 questions:
1. Why reset this pc doesn't do anthing?
2. If I reinstall windows 10 using the media creation tool and a usb flash drive, will that in any way mess up the windows 10 activation? (I don't care about going back to win7 so if I lose that it's fine).
I've recently upgraded to Windows 10 and I'm facing a problem: in the startup one of the HDD is not recognized.. I have to push the reset button and when Windows starts again then the HDD is recognized as normal and everyting goes OK.
But I'm getting tired of this routine.. everytime I need to use the computer I have to make the startup twice.
For more details.. I have Windows installed on a SSD HDD, then I have a SATA HDD and a third IDE HDD which is the one with the recognition problem.. I don't understand why the IDE HDD is not recognized in the first startup...
I have Lenovo Ideacenter Desktop with window 7 OS. Last week, i upgraded it to win 10 and downgraded back to window 7. Now problem is that i am unable to do factory reset (lenovo Green leaves screensaver page) even after restarting and pressing F2 key repeatedly.Yesterday i used Auslogics software for registry defragmentation and now my window is not loading .getting start up failed error. when i tried using system restore option...it is not working .(please see screenshot attached .i cant click that box to select local disc C option).
View 3 RepliesHow to Factory Reset Windows10 or upgraded to Windows10 from Windows7 or 8.This is also a FIX for the ERROR: There was a problem resetting your PC. This fix is only for Legit Authorized Copies of Windows 7, 8, or 10.
I upgraded to Win10 from Win8.1 when it was released for free upgrades in 2015. It is now 2016 and I wanted to Factory Reset my PC so I can start fresh again. I attempted to do it from Settings/Update and Security/Recovery/Reset this PC as suggested by Microsoft but I received and error saying "There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made." After searching the web I found many different fixes but they all seems so involved. Making a boot flash drive or burning a DVD and use their software... There is an awesome tutorial on this forum called Windows 10 Clean Install but I like to KISS when I can (Keep It Simple Stupid) so I decided to check with Microsoft.com before I started that process.
THE SIMPLE FIX I FOUND THAT WORKED FOR ME:
Go to: Windows 10
Click the "Upgrade Now" button.
Follow the prompts and you're good to go.
Works with Windows 7, 8 and 10.
I have a Intel Nuc, which I set up myself with windows 8.1 this was upgraded to windows 10.I tried to reset windows 10 tonight as im selling the computer, it got stuck at 66%, reported an error about not being able to complete, after a number of attempts and the same result i chose the option to restart pc.
Upon restart i now get nothing at all, no bios screen, no windows screen, not recognising prompts from keyboard. Tried external dvd player with original windows disc in, usb powers it but nothing. Just a black screen of nothing!!!! Monitor recognises hdmi cable is connected, its like the pc wont display anything.
I downloaded Windows 10 a few days ago, and every time I turn off my computer and log back in, my mouse settings revert back to their defaults. The defaults have a lot of annoying extra features, and the scroll is backwards. Every time I change the mouse settings to my preferences and apply them, on the next restart they are back to defaults.
How to make my settings permanent? I'm sure once a patch or two for Windows 10 comes in the problem will sort itself out, but in the meantime?
It won't let us access the local disk and says we don't have permission. I am the only user. It won't let us save anything on that disk either. I have gotten all of the documents, videos, and pictures backed up so that's not an issue. We are really just trying to reset the computer with a fresh start but it wont let us.
Resetting the computer- This wouldn't let me because it said it had an error. I did this by holding shift while restarting and then troubleshooting from there. I've tried the option of saving files and also whiping the whole computer, both ways won't work.Booting in safe mode- it works but nothing has come out of doing anything in that mode.
Newish computer, recently upgraded to Windows 10.
Trying to do a PC Reset via the settings to wipe clean to sell it. When I click Reset in the Recovery menu of the Settings, I get a scrolling wheel for a second or so, and then nothing. It's as if something on the computer is blocking the computer from being reset.
When I try from the Advanced startup, it goes through a normal restart but doesn't do anything else.
I know that in the week that my mother had this computer, she managed to get a couple viruses from 3rd party search bars that she was prompted to download which were causing issues. I wonder if I didn't get it all cleaned off and there is something that won't let the computer reset?
Long story short, I have had Windows 10 on my laptop ever since the second I could upgrade it. Last week my laptop got infected with a virus and would not boot up. I tried everything and the only solution that would work was to reset it to factory condition which brought my laptop back to windows 8.1. I no longer see any notifications popping up telling me I can upgrade to Windows 10. Is there another way I can upgrade or am I stuck with Windows 8.1 for good?
View 3 RepliesI recently upgraded my Windows 7 PC to Windows 10 using Windows Update. The whole process was smooth. I never really ran into any problem. Because the PC is so relatively old, I decided to delete all files and reinstall windows 10 using the windows 10 feature 'Reset This PC' to start fresh and theoretically faster. During the reset when Windows is installing my drivers, I noticed that the screen is plain black - no mouse pointer and the amount of reset finished(in percentage) is not also shown. The screen is just plain black. I am pretty sure that both the monitor and CPU is on. I've tried waiting for atleast an hour. I turned my pc's monitor on and off - nothing happened. So I have to resort to hard reset/reboot coz I cannot really see anything on my screen.
When I turned the power of the CPU back, it gave me the error 'The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. To install Windows, click ok to restart the computer and restart the installation'. I pressed OK but after restarting, it gave me the same error over and over again. I tried the solution in this website ( during installation of windows | HERESJAKEN), and it got rid of the error. However, I am stuck yet again in a loop that continues to just restart my PC when they reach the screen that tells you how much of the reset is finished, in my case, im stuck at 64% of the reset. That screen is shown for like merely 2 seconds, then the PC will just restart again, then show the "Reset progress screen" again for 2 seconds then PC will just restart again, over and over. I think the only solution is to start the reset of the PC again, but I dont know how.
I have factory reset once before with windows 10 and it let me keep windows 10 when I did it. But now I want to do it again but it is showing me a notice that if i reset, I will go back to windows 7. Is there a way I can factory reset my pc while still keeping windows 10?
Also I have another question but I don't want to make another thread about it. In games such as cs go, why is my game freezing for no reason? About every 30 sec - 1 min, i freeze for about 5-10 seconds. Between the freezes, i get split second freezes. I am getting a constant 200 fps and 10 ping
I just upgraded my notebook from 8.1. Win 10 is activated. I did the upgrade by creating an ISO using MCT, expanding the files to a USB hdd, then running Setup. I would now like to do a clean reinstall. Since I do not have bootable external media for the notebook, I'm wondering if the System Reset with the "Keep nothing" option would be equivalentto a "bare-metal" clean install?
View 3 RepliesI've recently upgraded to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 7 Professional. Since doing so I've had some annoying internet connectivity issues (Windows Sockets entries missing) among other things. So I decided I'd try the recovered features. None of them work for me. I click on them and my mouse icon does the load symbol then nothing happens. Even if I shift click Restart on and try to initiate reset from there nothing happens.
View 2 RepliesMy laptop is of Lenovo make, model No. G510s Touch. I am using Windows10 operating system. My web camera driver (micro soft veraion 2015.1064.10.0) got corrupted with virus and camera stopped working.
View 6 RepliesThe settings windows for my ELAN pad is empty. When I change the registry settings then the entrys are visible, but after restarting windows these settings were reset and th window is empty again. What to do, to prevent these changes?
View 4 RepliesI have Windows 10 and I want to factory reset (delete all my files too, FRESH install of windows).
I have a custom build computer, so I do not have a traditional factory reset button in my settings.
I don't have a backup, I forgot to make one however I will make one later!

If I use the Media Creation Tool to do a factory reset (delete all my files), I will get Windows 10 again as a fresh copy, right?
If so does it copy all the drivers or do I have to download and install them again? Or does it do all the work for me and install the latest drivers by itself?
I am having problem with my Mail & Calendar app. Mail app is crashing on startup. So I went and did a system reset, but then when I came back to my pc, it had rebooted and I got the message: "There was a problem resetting your PC"...
In my event viewer I can see:
event ID 414: Task Scheduler service found a misconfiguration in the NT TASKMicrosoftWindowsMedia CenterRecordingRestart definition. Additional Data: Error Value: %SystemRoot%ehomeehrec.
event ID 7001: The Net.Tcp Listener Adapter service depends on the Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service service which failed to start because of the following error: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.
event ID 4502: Attempt to restore the system to original condition has failed. Changes to the system have been undone.
Recently, I decided to do a factory reset, to cleanly wipe my drive, with the exception of Windows. When the reset was about 30% through, the reset failed. Now, when I try and use my laptop, it only gets to the ASUS logo, then goes to a black screen with a flashing underscore symbol on the top left corner. I've tried doing F9, SHIFT+F9, and everything else in between. My laptop is an ASUS G74SX, and I don't have a recovery partition for the laptop. I also cannot get any external programs for the laptop, such as ISOs, etc.
