View 9 RepliesI upgraded to Win 10 in late July, but lately realized maybe Microsoft might not be providing the updates to solve my current issues.
My computer is pretty old, and the hardware is the same as it came out of the box, other than attaching a spare hard drive. It is a Dell Dimension E520.
The processor is an Intel dual core e6300 @ 1.86 ghz, but Win 10 seems to only detect one core and is therefore only running at 1.86 ghz instead of the 3+ ghz I was expecting.
My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 940BW and my computer currently does not recognize it has a native resolution of 1440x900. I can only run 4:3 resolutions instead of the 16:10 resolutions I need.
I've already looked at the manufacturer's websites and they don't seem to support Win 10 drivers for these products.
Just installed this build on another partition. The OS looks beautiful but it keeps on freezing, randomly. sometimes at the start up or sometimes when the cpu usage increases. The cursor doesn't move, cant even shutdown properly. I've updated my nvidia driver and everything, the problem is still there. Nothing's wrong here on 8.1.
View 10 RepliesNow what! I have reserved my copy of Windows 10 on my gamer-rig, which is a Intel Core i7 4790K CPU. When checking my system, this is now showing up [URL]
The text is in danish, saying that this PC does not meet the standard for Windows 10. Windows 10 can't be installed on this PC because the CPU is not supported!!
I added a registry tweak that unlocked the power option to park the CPU...I am running a PC so battery life or power use is not an issue..just want to be clear about the min and max settings....thought it would be just ON or OFF...its the %s that confuse me....So if i set the min to 100% I assume that turns oof parking completely ?If I set max to 100% this allows the CPU to go to the max it can ? So is the min setting for parking ? and the max to just restrict the max the CPU will run ?If these assumptions are correct....what are the %s in between for ?
View 3 RepliesI installed the above OS over windows 7. Install went well but the day after I went to log into my computer. It came back to the windows 7 home screen and a message saying there had been a critical error with Windows and cortana and it would try to restore if I sign out then in again. I've don't just that a few times with the same message popping up. I can open the icons on the screen but the start menu will not pop up.
How do I go about reinstalling the OS?
CPU not showing temp in Open hardware monitor or core temp
Used to show ok, I am certain...In the BIOS when I boot the PC it shows ok approx 60-65oC
But not in the aforementioned apps....cant think why
So I just built my new PC and installed windows 10 but now I cannot connect to the internet to download the drivers.
Its saying i need a network controller.
Should I download the drivers for LAN onto USB from my other PC and install on new PC?
I am experiencing issues with some core apps alike store, calculator, contacts etc. The live tile is showing these apps with title like @{Microsoft. WindowsStore_2015.... etc. I tried to reinstall the apps via admin powershell but it stops with error

Also created a new user too. That account also have the same issue.I do have an image of the drive. Can i copy some thing from it to fix the problem?
So, recently (after the November build release) I woke the next morning to find that my computer underwent a rather major update. After which, it seemed, my home network was thrown out of wack. I immediately rolled/reverted/recovered to previous build. But now everything is out of wack. Most of the time I have to restart my computer just so it'll communicate with my printer to start printing.
And restarting the computer is twice as long if it restarts at all. Most of the time It gets stuck in the "restart" progress animates (the rotating circles) and I have to press the restart button on the computer tower, with great regret and dread. Transferring files from one windows 10 device to another is a 50/50 hit or miss. I'm not literate when it comes to networking and was super happy how everything was.
But now, not only is my wifi home network out of wack, but my computer itself is wonky. I figure I might as well reinstall the newest build in hopes that it'll at least fix a fe of the problems. But anytime I check for updates, the newest build no longer shows up.
After an cumulative update the icons of the modern applications took a square of the color of my theme and are no longer monochromatic ... And some apps do not show the name on the Live Tile as well...
View 6 RepliesSo today, as it is all over Windowscentral, some of the MS core apps and VLC for Windows 10 got their updates. However, they are stuck at 0% and showing no signs of progress. I've tried cancelling them all, rebooting and download on at a time but it was no use.
View 21 RepliesSince I skipped Windows 8, I didn't get to use its new task manager.
But now that I'm on 10, I'm heavily enjoying this AMAZING new task manager.
However, I just noticed (not sure how I didn't see this before) that Task Manager is showing that my i5-2500K is running at 5.29GHz! I do have it overclocked to 4.2GHz @ ~1.31 volts. Why this might be happening? I searched around a bit and I found that some other people have this problem with the i5-2500K and the Task Manager, but nobody really knows what it is.
I just recently got the Windows 10 update from Windows 8, and found that changing my settings doesn't seem to work like it should.
The best example of this that I can find is that even when I disable PalmCheck in this window:
and save the settings, I still won't be able to move the mouse while typing at all.
I do not like the touch pad. When I had Windows 8.1, I simply disabled it. But Windows 10 has a mind of it's own. I go into settings for touch pad and put a check mark where it says "disable touch pad". But as soon as I restart, the touch is enabled. I go where I put the check mark and it's gone--Windows just un-checked it. There are a couple of places where I can disable it, but upon restarting it goes back to where it was. I even went in Device Manager and disabled it there, but the same thing happens.
View 9 RepliesI have an issue with playing games on Windows 10. Many video games bind the console key to "tilde" or "~" key but my laptop has something called an IR device (or something like that) that is preventing me from using the tilde key when gaming. My Alienware R1 works fine but my new R3 is giving me trouble with this.
I cannot find anything called an IR device in the device manager, much less find where to disable it.
I recently updated/upgraded my Windows 8 laptop to Windows 10 operating system. I would like to know how to disable the tap-to-click touch-pad feature in Windows 10. It was easy to do on 8, but after searching through the settings on 10 I am unable to locate that setting.
View 9 RepliesRecently, I've noticed that the trackpad has been turning on despite having a mouse plugged in. I'm currently not sure on how to disable the trackpad.
View 9 RepliesMicrosoft has made it mandatory for Windows 10 users to update their computers. From what I understand, they have set the new operating system to automatically receive new updates by default. I also heard from a colleague that Microsoft recently released a tool that can be used to hide or disable Windows 10 updates selectively.
View 4 RepliesI understand i have asked this before, but my touchpad still refuses to disable. i have tried 5 different versions of the synaptics driver, and i believe im currently running on the best version (according to my laptop). If I go to control panel and disable it from there its still no luck. its making me regret my decision to update as it worked perfectly before.
View 6 RepliesI disable driver signature pressing 7 button:
But when try to install unsigned driver I get this error:
The third-party INF does not contain digital signature information
+ info: I folow the next manual to instal this drivers.
I have a Synaptics touch pad on my HP Envy laptop. Prior to upgrading to Windows 10 if I went to mouse in the control panel there was a checkbox to check to disable the touch pad if a external mouse was detected. This worked fine. Now under Windows 10 I can still check the box to disable the touch pad but the setting does not stick and has to be rechecked after every reboot. Is there a way to get this setting to stick? There is no disable setting in the device manager for the Synaptics touch pad.
View 8 RepliesI have a HP Pavilion laptop with Synaptics Touchpad V7.5 on a PS/2 port. The driver version is 19.0.12.95.
After installing Windows 10 and updating all of the drivers, I tried playing a game and found that I can't use my keyboard and mouse at the same time, so I turned off PalmCheck and tried to continue- but it still does not work.
I have also tried to go into the Windows 10 version of the setting and set to 'No Delay'.
I've tried to update my drivers but every time it says I already have the best version of the drivers installed.
Here is an image of what my settings have been set as (from another user that hasn't received a reply). But after exiting and pressing apply, it saves the settings but I still can't use the mouse and keyboard at the same time.
On my HP pavilion notebook the end of the headphones is stuck in that jack, currently I have a tool coming to repair that. Is there a way I can disable my audio jack. Headphones is not coming up in playback devices. The only thing that is is. Speakers/HP. I tried installing realtek software it will not install. It says it is installing the headphones than I switch it to the speakers as the default but then it switches back to the Speakers/HP.
View 1 RepliesSo my asus ranger vii m/b settings aren't stopping. The external samsung M3 portable HD from interfering .
So keep getting the error:
bootmnger not found error
CTRL-ALT-DELETE required
Needless to say samsung and asus aren't supporting...
I know there are plenty of people who for one reason or another, would rather manually manage their driver updates. So for those of you who aren't aware, it is possible to disable Windows 10's automatic driver update feature completely.
First you will need to enter the "System" window. You can get here by right-clicking the start button and selecting "System".Click "Advanced System Settings".Click the "Hardware" tab.Click "Device Installation" settings, and select the "No, let me choose what to do" option, and you'll see the options below.
If you want to manually control it, choose the "Never install drivers from Windows Update" option.
