Drivers/Hardware :: Mouse Movement / Keyboard Turning On The Computer?
Sep 15, 2015
I edited the BIOS settings to try and enable my keyboard and mouse and wake my computer from sleep, however now I am having the problem that moving the mouse/using keyboard also turns on my computer when it is powered off.
Is there a way to get my computer to wake, by only click or typing any key (not moving mouse), but at the same time, keyboard and mouse not affecting anything while the PC is turned off (only being able to press the power button on the PC tower to turn it on from shutting it down)?
Here is a photo of my BIOS settings currently. When I have "Resume from S3/S4/S5 by USB Device" enabled, the computer turns on (from being shut down) by moving the mouse/clicking/hitting any key on the keyboard. When it is turned off, the mouse or keyboard don't do anything while the computer is off or asleep.

I've done some looking up on what the issue is, and I believe that it's something commonly referred to as "sticky corners". There is a few pixels space on the bottom and top of the screen (between both monitors) which does not allow mouse movement from one screen to the other. To get the mouse to the other screen, I need to drag the mouse down about a centimeter and then it moves across to the equal position on the other screen (not the very top, meaning that it's not a scaling issue). I drag windows around constantly, and they keep getting stuck in the top or bottom of the screen, and it's quite distracting.
As you see in the screenshot that I've attached, the small red line is where the mouse simply refuses to move across, regardless of the speed of the mouse.
This was apparently a feature in Windows 8.1 as well, which there was a solution for by messing around in the registry editor, however this is no longer the case in Windows 10 (the files which used to be edited are no longer there in 10).
How to disable these "sticky corners" ...

In device manager, when going to the view tab and clicking show hidden devices I have exclamation points next to Standard PS/2 Keyboard and Microsoft PS/2 Mouse. I can uninstall, but after reboot they appear again. My motherboard does not even have PS/2 outlets, only USB.
I have downloaded and installed the latest intel chipset drivers 10.1.2.10. The errors showed up before and after the chipset update.
After running perfmon /report I get errors for both of these.
After I uninstall both of these in device manager and run perfmon /report I do not get the errors, however they reappear after a re-boot.

So I was in my bios and I changed my CPU mode offset sign from + to -, I saved the settings and exited. When the PC restarted it came on perfectly fine but I am getting no signal on my monitor and my razer keyboard & mouse aren't coming on or lighting up.
My motherboard is a P8Z77-V LX
My CPU is a Intel Core i5 3470 3.20Ghz.
My RAM is G.Skill RipJawz 1866mhz 4 X 4
My GPU: Asus GeForce 660ti DirectCU II OC Edition.
I googled around and it said to take the battery out for 10 seconds and put it back in, I did that and no change, I also took the jumper from 1-2 and put it on 2-3 for 10 seconds then back again, Again no change.
Ive reseated the RAM/GPU and CPU and nothing seems to be working.
The pc turns on fine but nothing seems to be working.
Even my Corsair H80i pump LED changed from white to pink which is the colour I set it. All fans are working too.
Why I changed my cpu offset mode, Before this issue I just had a bluescreen for WHEA_Uncorrectable_Error, I turned my PC back on and I googled around and it said it was something to do with my CPU voltage, and one person suggested to try and change it from + or auto to -, So I restarted my PC and changed the cpu offset mode from + to -, after that it doesnt seem to be working and im not quite sure why.
What I can do to try and solve this issue or should I just order a new motherboard?

Recently I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 however this caused several issues with my laptop so I reversed the upgrade back to 8.1. My Kaspersky AntiVirus would then not work leaving just a blank logo on my desktop. I tried to uninstall kaspersky using the uninstall programme available on their website but upon restart I can no longer get past the login screen as I can't use my keyboard or mouse to enter my password. I can enter a screen that allows me to select safe mode but again I can't enter my password. I have a Dell restore USB but this will not work. I have tried USB mouse and keyboard but no luck either. I cannot preform a restore at all.

I have followed several similar threads and their fixes for this problem with no result. After downloading the Win 10 upgrade, my system then said "loading updates". Then it restarted with a blue login screen saying "Welcome Back!" And a box to enter my password. The cursor is blinking in the box, but neither my mouse or keyboard works.
I have hard booted several times since the ctrl+alt+delete does not work. I am also not able to access safe mode as none of the "F" keys work during boot up.
I have tried the following:
1. Unplugged all USB devices except keyboard.
2. Turning off internet at the router.
I have a Dell desktop, and upgraded from Windows 7, with a Netgear router/modem. The only way I can get the system to move is if I power off at the main switch after booting up which goes into bios and disc diagnostics, but I don't know enough about computers to know what to do there!

I just recently updated. I then created a boot disk and performed a clean install. I use a Razor Black Widow Ultimate keyboard and a Logitech G9x laser mouse. I can reboot, I can shut down and restart and everything seems to work fine. But, after leaving the pc off all night and start in the morning I have no mouse or keyboard. This has happened Saturday morning, Sunday morning and yet again today. Fortunately, I have Acronis backup of my install, so when this happens I just re-image the hard drive and start searching for solutions again.
I have the latest Logitech mouse drivers and running Razor Synapse for keyboard software.
The latest thing I have done is disable fast boot but have not had it shut down long enough to see if it fixes the issue.

I use left handed mouse, and swapping left / buttons works OK. I also set the wheel button to be "double click". But the wheel button brings up the context menu instead of double click. If I change to right hand mouse, the wheel button gives double click as expected. how to make the wheel button give double click for left hand mouse?

Okay, so I take blame for accidentally messing up my Windows 10. My NVIDIA graphics card wasn't working and wasn't letting me install my drivers. Well that aside, now that I installed older Drivers Windows 10 registers something horribly wrong. It wants to do a system repair. Okay, good, fine with me. But then when it gets to the page for me to select a keyboard layout, I have no mouse and my keyboard doesn't work either.
Anytime I press a button on them their backlights turn on, but then turn back off when I don't do anything with them.
I can't afford to get a new OS, I have no DVD Drive so I definitely can't do anything that requires a disk. What do I do?

I was running Win 7 before the upgrade and I had the window focus setting to follow my mouse. In other words, I just needed to place my mouse in a window for it to be focused... no clicking necessary. There was a small delay in the focus and this worked well for me. I find in 10, however, that the delay is gone so as I move my mouse around the screen, windows popup very quickly. The easiest solution for me is to just turn off the feature. But I can't seem to find where to do that. In 7, this was done via Ease of Access menu but that option is not there in 10 nor is it in the mouse options and I don't see a Windows Settings option/menu anywhere. The only way I can manage my windows right now is to minimise everything other than the window I'm working in... this is a bit inconvenient.

I have an ASUS computer and prior to downloading windows 10 I was able to turn the touch pad off and use my mouse. With windows 10 my mouse works but so does my touch pad. I have tried going so far as deleting the touch pad driver but to no avail. Its gone for a few minutes and then returns.

After shutting down my computer every night, at some point during the night the computer is randomly turning itself on. I have not changed anything that would indicate that this should occur. It didn't happen when I had Windows 8.1 and now that I have Windows 10 it does happen. How to fix it?

I recently got rid of a cabled keyboard in favor of a smaller bluetooth keyboard (MS Mobile 6000). Everything is great except that now, I have a hard time putting my PC to sleep. In fact, it tends to wake up after 30 seconds or so. I'm pretty sure this is due to the BT keyboard.

So ever since I updated operating system to Windows 10, my HP Pavilion computer has been shutting down with no warning. And now my computer won't even turn on.
My desktop does not overheat, the CPU and the Memory does not go over 50%, have not installed any new programs since we've been using Windows 10. Right when I try to turn the computer on it goes to the HP logo screen and it turns off automatically.

I have a weird error using Windows 10: I cannot change / adjust brightness at all. I have the latest updates for every drivers, programs and all, not sure why the system does this. Sometimes the screen brightness is 100%, sometimes just 50%. Not sure if the Catalyst Control Center is to blame, but I really need a quick solution, and until now I found none.

I have a Dell XPS 17 laptop. Worked great under Windows 7. Tried Windows 10 but was unable to get the wireless LAN driver to work, so I went back to Win 7 via the official "Go Back to Windows 7" option in Windows 10 - now the keyboard and mouse won't respond after start up. They work fine in the bios, but are completely unresponsive on the login screen - even when I boot in safe mode. No USB ports work, so I can't try another keyboard/mouse. Was going to reinstall but I'll lose the existing data. Now I'm going to have to pull the drive and copy over manually, then reinstall. Last thing I was going to try was disabling EVERYTHING in the BIOS just in case there was some kind of weird IRQ conflict, etc.

I've gotten two BSODs in the last month since I've built this computer (most recently today; last one about 3 weeks ago). But when I went to use bluescreenviewer, there's been over 10 minidumps in the last month. So I've uploaded my stuff here....
As a note, the BSOD seems to come on as soon as I turn on the computer, right after the blue windows logo comes up (I'm on Windows 10). I haven't gotten a BSOD while I've been using my computer or doing anything else.

I bought my Razer Blade around November last year, and I automatically upgraded it to Windows 10. Since then, I've encountered the occasional glitch wherein I would run a game (usually either Heroes VI, but it does this with other games as well) and I would end up with a blank black screen. The keyboard is lit, and sometimes, not always, there is no audio playing. Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't work and I have to spend 5-15 minutes hard restarting my computer because when it restarts, it puts me back in the same state.
This went on maybe 2-3 times per week, until today where it happened to me again, but it took me around an hour to get it started up again. At first, I figured that it might have been my fault, and proceeded to download all the new drivers and uninstall, then reinstall all programs such as Nvidia, Intel and C++, but the problem persisted, throughout each mandatory restart. (Yes, I have seen the black screen on start up error, and it's not related to mine. I see no mouse. One thing to note is that my keyboard lights up when I turn the computer on, blacks out for a second, then lights back up again during the times that it does NOT display the Razer symbol upon opening.)
I'll attach my dxdiag.
I got it to work finally. What I did was go to Geforce control panel, went to 3d settings then manually routed everything to use the Nvidia, instead of using the generic setting. It fixed itself after doing that.
