I was trying to add a printer and I had the message that the printer spooler don't work! I tried 3 different ways manually via command prompt and via windows devices system and force start automatically but nothing. it cant start. Some messages i got trying to fix it it was there are no resources for this operation!
The service is starting at boot up but then stops. I can manually start the service and it starts but then stops unexpectedly in less than a minute. Here is the event viewer log. may need to recover to Win8.1 as I need printers.
Update... I have 3 PC's (2 laptops, 1 HP & 1 Dell & 1 Dell Desktop). The Dell Desktop printers are working fine but the printer spooler service on both laptops starts and stops unexpectedly. Tried unchecking fast startup under Power and on one laptop tried LPD Print Service & LPR Port Monitor under turn Windows features on under Control Panel Programs & Features..
I upgrades to Win 10 the the above network/wireless printer worked fine. I've now done a fresh install and it doesn't!
The scanning function works but trying to print produces an error. I've been advised by Samsung support that their driver doesn't support Win 10 and that they don't know when a new version will be released. They said it would still function under the upgrade as it still had access to the old Win 7 drivers there.
Any way of making the Win 7 drivers available on a fresh Win 10 install?
For some reason, my printer doesn't show up in applications such as Microsoft Word or Libre Office, although I'm sure that it's connected properly to the computer because it still lets me scan documents. When I troubleshoot the printer, I get this error message: "The Print Spooler service isn't running".
The issue is I have a network printer selected as the default in Windows 10. I have the option "Let Windows manage my default printer" turned off. At one point randomly, the default printer goes back to the Adobe PDF as the default.
Steps taken:
* I have checked the registry settings to ensure that the options "let Windows manage my default printer" is switched off. I can confirm this. * Switched the default printer back to the network printer and performed a reboot. The network printer remains as the default. At some point of the day it goes back to Adobe PDF.
Installed 10 and now printer doesn't work. Uninstalled and tried again, no luck.I see it in Settings, Devices and says driver is unavailable. Search for drive but comes back and says I have the correct version. Can't install software as DVD drive no longer works either.
I have installed windows 10. Files were transferred well, but skype isn't working properly. I can hear the other side, but the other side can't hear me. Also the printer isn't working..
The print spooler chokes on both of my Windows 10 machines when trying to deal with certain pdf files. For instance when I tried to print [URL] ... via my browser (Chrome), it printed the first 6 pages, but the printer showed an error when it came to the seventh page. When I then tried to create another job just to print the seventh page, it just hung around in the print spool and nothing happened at the printer.
I tried this several times on two machines. It was also impossible either to cancel the job in the print queue manager or to stop the spooler in the services manager in order to manually clear the print queue, which meant that the only way I could clear the queue was to restart the machine. I got the same behaviour whether I was printing to my physical printer or to the MS pdf printer. I also got the same behaviour when I tried to print from a different browser (Edge). This is not the first time I have had a problem with an unprintable file like this in Windows 10.
I'll first describe my LANs network environment. Three Windows PCs and one Linux PC. Each PC is sharing one folder called TEMP.
The PCs: WIN10 - Windows 10 TP (non-enterprise edition) WINXP - Windows XP Pro SP3 WINXP0 - Windows XP Home SP3 CENTOS - CentOS 6.5
Using NetBIOS over TCP/IP on each PCs for name and IP address resolution No hosts file contains the names of the LANs PCs The Computer Browser service is active on WIN10 The Computer Browser service is disabled on all the other Windows PCs Samba services on CENTOS is on but the master browser in the WIN10 PC
Firewalls on all PCs is off except for WIN10 but the rules allow file/printer service through The same primary user account is used to logon to each PC No HomeGroup networking used. All PCs are in the same workgroup=LANSYS
Now with all that stated, I'll describe the problem. From WIN10, I can see the list of PCs in the workgroup and access the shared folder TEMP on each PC
From WINXP, I cannot see the list of PCs in the workgroup and can only access the shared folder TEMP on the other PCs when I use the IP address of those PCs in either My Network Places, Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer. I always receive the "Workgroup not accessible ...." popup window when attempting to view LANSYS from My Network Places.
From WINXP0, it's the same as WINXP
From CENTOS, in order to see shares I use the smbclient command. When I execute the command for WIN10, the command fails and reports that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is disabled on WIN10
But NetBIOS has to working on the LAN because I can ping each PC from any PC. I executed ipconfig/all on each Windows PC and it displays NetBIOS is enabled.
So it appears that NetBIOS Sessions service over port 139 inbound traffic on WIN10 is either buggy, crippled, or broken.
After upgrade from 7 to 10 my 2 brother printers were visible and apparently ready. The HL2270DW would not print - just spooled forever but the MFCJ825DW worked. I tried using the Brother uninstall tool to remove the laser driver then installed the W8.1 package for it. Would not install. So I wondered if the other printer was to blame and removed it as well and re-installed. I have done this many times now getting progressively more thorough including removing all mentions of Brother drivers using Devices and Printers interface, uninstalling in Device Manager installing in a different order and as administrator, removing folders left over etc. The result is always the same. I can get one of them installed but attempting to print gives the error Driver not installed - do you want to install? Click through, install via windows process but it fails anyway.
Don't know if this is the right area but when I try to add my Canon MP 600 printer I can't. Have tried to follow the instructions when I click on add printer but it's all Chinese to me.
HP 1512 all in one printer only has a usb connection (not wireless) It was connected and worked in Win 7 but would not work in Win 10. Win 10 does not recognize the connection during installation.
I followed the directions in the printer support, disconnected and reconnected, uninstalled and reinstalled, got HP to connect to my computer, and worked on it for 2 days. Now I have no Printer Support files (HP Techs deleted too much?)
After upgrading to Windows 10, the scanning on my HP printer doesn't work. The other printer functions work o.k.Should I simply delete the printer and reinstall it?
After I installed windows 10 my printer won't print. It shoots out the paper but it is blank. I checked and all the drivers are up too date. I use a Canon MX860 All in one. It worked fine on Vista, 7 & 8.
I have no printer notification when I'm printing. In the control panel -> devices and printer -> printerserver properties these are enabled. I have no hiden icons in the taskbar. I tried in the windows registry the setting from windows 7:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERPrintersSettingsEnableBalloonNotificationsRemote and HKEY_CURRENT_USERPrintersSettingsEnableBalloonNotificationsLocal.
But this also don't work. I'm printing to and HP Deskjet 895 CXI on an WIndows Home Server 2011. On my Windows 7 Pro machine the notification is present.
I have a default printer which is a network printer for 99% of my printing. However, I do use a local printer when printing checks.
I have the default set to the network printer and that is what I have set for the past several years through Windows 7 and now with my Windows 10 setup.
Since the latest November update, my computer keeps changing the default printer back to my local printer for no apparent reason and without notice. So when I go to print something, if I don't take care to check, I send it to print on my checks.
This is a new behavior over the past few days - the default printer becomes unchecked, leaving me unable to print. Happens with or without a reboot. This would be relatively easy to fix each time, except that the Devices & Printers page takes 30-60 seconds to open
New to 10 and unable to install Samsung printer ML1210. printer remains offline but shows samsung universal printer driver installed. I understand this is a recognised problem
why my print spooler keeps shutting off since i loaded W10. I have a HP ENVY and have tried to run both printers that worked prior to the install. Both work on the other laptop that isnt running W10.
Tried to set up my Canon CP720 photo printer today. Canon say they have no drivers available, found one on Cnet which I downloaded to old laptop still on Vista but when I try to install it using 10 it says that this version of windows cannot download a printer driver.
