Drivers/Hardware :: Right Click Doesn't Work On Touchpad (Synaptics)
Sep 30, 2015
I just upgraded to Windows 10 and have discovered a problem that I can't seem to fix. When I Right-click on my Touchpad, nothing happens. This was very useful when I need to fix a word spelling & get options for the misspelled word.
I understand i have asked this before, but my touchpad still refuses to disable. i have tried 5 different versions of the synaptics driver, and i believe im currently running on the best version (according to my laptop). If I go to control panel and disable it from there its still no luck. its making me regret my decision to update as it worked perfectly before.
I just upgraded my windows 7 original install on my Toshiba Laptop (3 years old) to the Windows 10 Home Preview Build (10130 was installed). Everything appears to be working EXCEPT my touchpad will not scroll. It is a Synaptics V7.5 on PS-2 port. I went to the Synaptics website and don't see a windows 10 driver for this...How can i get the scrolling to work on the touchpad (everything else seems to be working on the pad)..
I just got this laptop (Dell Vostro 3558 i3), a few days ago i upgraded to windows 10 using the media creation tool. After the upgrade, the touch pad works but I cannot scroll. I have tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them. When I upgraded there was nothing listed that went along the lines of synaptics in the control panel (uninstall).
I have tried installing the drivers of windows 10 and windows 7 from the dell website, what happens is quite weird, the installer says it installs without any errors but nothing happens, there is no synaptics program listed in the control panel.
Excuse me if I left any important details out but it is the first time that i have come across this issue and don't know what info I should give. I should also note that before I upgraded the touch pad worked along with the program of the drivers, now all I get is the usual mouse options and in device manager it recognizes it as a P/S2 mouse.
My laptop touchpad scrolling stopped working this morning after I updated my gpu driver. I went to the packard bell website and looked at the touchpad drivers for my laptop. There is a synaptics one and a elan one.
I have them both installed on my laptop but it still isn't working and there is still no virtual scrolling option in synaptics. These are the options that I have in the synaptics settings:
This is what it should look like:
What do I have to do to get the scroll trackpad feature to work again? P.S, when in device manager, even though there is an ELAN tab in mouse properties, Only the synaptics driver shows up under the mice section in device manager. Does this mean that the synaptics driver is replacing the ELAN and I need them both for the scroll to work.
I have upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I had problems going into and out of sleep mode which seem have been resolved by installing updates for Intel Graphics. Now I can't get anything to come up when I left click on the Start button. All of the other icons in the task bar will only work with a left click of the mouse, nothing happens with a right click. Also, I did not get Cortana when I upgraded to Windows 10 on this device. I also upgraded another lap top and have Cortana on that one. With all of these problems occurring one after the other, can I reinstall Windows 10?
Suddenly when I turned on my machine, the left click button on touchpad will no longer work, right click works fine but no left click. This is also true for the touch screen. If I touch the window icon to open the menu, it changes color but does nothing. Things I tried:
1-Connected an external mouse and it also doesn't work with left click. 2-I tried a restore point from last week to see if that solved the problem. Still the same.
What I did to disable the left click button. Could have been caused by a windows update?
I bought a new asus transformer flip book and have just installed Windows 10 and my touchpad doesnt work correctly. When i click on something it doesnt react at all.
I installed the new Win 10 home and now I'm unable to deactivate the touchpad. I tried to fix it in system controls and of course by "alt+F9" but nothing works... or elseway, it still works.
I have four computers running Win10. On two of them the windows "Start" button on the task bar doesn't work. So I can't get to Settings or Apps. I can right click on the Start button and get the "right-click menu". All of the other task bar buttons work.
What's going on with this? It used to work. For a while it didn't work on my laptop, now that is working but on two other desktop computers it doesn't work. All computers have same Win10 version and latest updates (although hardware differs some between them).
Can I add the "Settings" and "All Apps" shortcut I would normally get left-clicking on the Start button to the Start button's "right-click menu"?
Lenovo Thinkpad R500 - Touchpad scroll works in Internet Explorer, Firefox, File Explorer, Device manager and some other places, but it does not work in Start menu or any menu under Control panel, Edge or Windows Store - no matter what I have tried it simply will not Scroll - There is no doubt this a BUG.
I'm guessing it a bug in windows registry, but don't know where to find it. I have been through most that has to do with ALPS. Where the registry settings for the MS software scroll option are.
Touchpad/Trackpoint: ALPS UltraNav 2 - I have the newest driver from lenovo an ALPS don't have driver download available. But can't see how its a driver issue when it works in Device manager and the other places.
I tried getting MS support engineers at MS forum, to take a look at it, but they have this attitude that its driver issue and not Windows bug. Besides that, they never read the question before dishing out some standard solution like "try going to safe mode to see if the problem persist" - That is not going to work, since the drivers that control the scroll will not load in safe mode and then scroll will not work at all, a "real" technician would know that.
Scrolling right now in Firefox - If i go to Edge or Store, its not working.
My sound won't work after I installed windows 10. I'm using Conexant SmartAudio HD by the way. I tried using youtube for a solution but everything was for older builds.
I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 a few months ago. Yesterday the disc drive stopped working. I put in a disc I had made which contained various data, mostly text. When I clicked the D recovery drive nothing happened. In the past I would see a list of the videos on the disk and by clicking one of the items I could play it on Movies and TV. Now that doesn't work. I can play videos that I've downloaded and are in my videos file, but not videos from the disc drive. I have an HP Pavilion slimline desktop computer.
The camera on my Toshiba S50-B laptop worked fine when on the original Windows 8.1 but doesn't work now that I have upgraded to Windows 10. It says "Something went wrong - make sure your camera is connected and not being used by another application". I have tried everything I know of and find no reason. Is there another driver required or ...? I cannot even find the camera.
I've been attempting to use applications like Teamspeak or Google Hangouts, but whenever I try to use the built-in microphone on my laptop, it doesn't work. It did work when I was using Windows 8.1. The "update driver" button only says that it's up to date.
EDIT: I have also found that the microphone appears to be turning on and off, stopping any audio when it's on.
I updated to Windows 10 this morning, and after doing so realized that my side scrolling on my mouse pad (I'm on a laptop) doesn't work anymore. Googled, found out it was a driver issue, and went to download the correct driver.
However, acer aspire drivers don't have the touchpad driver updated for Windows 10 yet. Do I have to wait until the driver comes out to fix this issue? If so, how long that could take? (They have the important drivers updated already, those for bluetooth and wifi)
I have a multifunction HP C5280 printer connected via USB to my router that has a built in printer server and it's a couple of days I can't print through it from my laptop anymore (but I still can print from my smartphone as always).
The problem started when I removed the device from control panel to try installing the latest driver downloaded from the HP website, because I wasn't able to scan from it, but at least I still could print. Since then, even if the printer appears as ready, Windows doesn't even send documents to the spooler: the printer icon appears on the taskbar but it just says "0 document(s) pending".
Additional informations: I already uninstalled the downloaded new driver and installed back the previous working one and it's not a spooler problem since I can print if I directly connect the printer through the laptop USB.
The Stylus Pro 7600 is now a really old printer, the last supported driver was for XP but it worked in Windows 7 and I believe to some extent in 8 although I never did try it.
It s a really good reliable large format printer though and very affordable in parts, ink and the second-hand purchase price.
However alas Windows 10 doesn't like it, I did the upgrade to 10 (and then the downgrade) from windows 7 but it will not see the driver it sees the device but calls it a USB high speed device or something like that and compatibility mode didn't seem to work.
So unless there is a clever work around and I'd love that to happen I'm stuck on Windows 7 for the duration.
I've noticed an interesting fact while i was working with few usb's . Windows 10 , at least mine cannot eject usb's no matter if you just plugged it in , safe eject doesn't work . There is a message coming up "this device is currently in use close all programs...."
I've just upgraded to Win10 and the ability to open a new tab with a two-finger click seems to have disappeared. I used this a lot in Win8.1 so it would be nice to get it back. I've not been able to find anything about it on the net yet....
I have a HP Pavilion laptop with Synaptics Touchpad V7.5 on a PS/2 port. The driver version is 19.0.12.95.
After installing Windows 10 and updating all of the drivers, I tried playing a game and found that I can't use my keyboard and mouse at the same time, so I turned off PalmCheck and tried to continue- but it still does not work.
I have also tried to go into the Windows 10 version of the setting and set to 'No Delay'.
I've tried to update my drivers but every time it says I already have the best version of the drivers installed.
Here is an image of what my settings have been set as (from another user that hasn't received a reply). But after exiting and pressing apply, it saves the settings but I still can't use the mouse and keyboard at the same time.
I found a problem in my pc (Windows 10 Pro 64 bit ver 10586.104 [not insider]) that: When I start up computer, Synaptics startup too, and that what I want, but while playing some game, I have to adjust the resolution lower (HD), and after that, I turn it back to normal (full HD). Therefore, some object in that desktop and taskbar didn't diskplay correctly so I have to restart explore.exe in task manager, but after I restart explorer, synaptics didn't work any more (the icon in the taskbar is disappear, too). (Note: Include can't use 2 finger zooming, rolling, ....) how to start Synaptics back again ? (I can't find where to start Synaptics if it crashed or ended)
My primary problem is that the Action Center opens at every second click. I think the problem migth be with some touchpad settings, but I haven't been able to identify them.
The touchpad started acting all weird all of a sudden. I have tried to restart the pc of course. That didn't work. I also ran a virus check, but at least nothing was identified. I have also tried to update the touchpad driver with no improvement.
Besides the Action Center appearing all the time, the touchpad stopped responding to taps (the way I usually click). I was able to borrow an external mouse. I had no problems with the mouse, but the problems remained with the touchpad. After disabling the touchpad and using the mouse for a while, the problems disappeared. However, there was still some weird behavior with the touchpad (some settings had changed, for example ClickLock had been turned on). The touchpad does not work the way the settings indicate in Settings > Devices > Mouse and touchpad > Additional mouse options > (Dell Touchpad >) Click to change DellTouchpad Settings.
Now the problems from before borrowing the mouse have reappeared, and I can't get access to a mouse at the moment.
Another issue tell me if u can solve this . Iam having synaptics touch pad in which scrolling feature is not working in win 10 ,was working in windows 8 .
