I've noticed an interesting fact while i was working with few usb's . Windows 10 , at least mine cannot eject usb's no matter if you just plugged it in , safe eject doesn't work . There is a message coming up "this device is currently in use close all programs...."
View 9 RepliesIs it only me or has Microsoft removed this bubble, which always popped up when you could eject a device? In Windows 10 I never see it. This makes the Safe Eject function hard to use - I never know, whether I now can unplug the device or if I can't.
When the device is used currently, then there is an according error message - which is absolutely fine.
But when there is no such error, I am left back clueless as to whether ejecting now worked or if it just did not work. It would be great, to at least get any feedback then...
Has the "You can unplug now" notice been removed? Or is this some kind of bug, which only I am having?
My computer with Windows 10 no longer recognizes my Hero 3+ GoPro Camera, nor my Nikon D5100. I have looked for drivers, but to no avail. Any way that I can pull pictures/video off these devices and put on computer?

View 3 RepliesJust realised that, since I upgraded from Win 7 64 Home Premium to Win 10, it has not detected the laptop's Bluetooth device. It doesn't even feature as a device in Device Manager ... not even one with a problem.

View 1 RepliesI just received my MSI laptop with Windows 10 and I'm still feeling around on how to use the new OS (upgraded from Windows 7). I plugged in my ext. HDD and something popped up asking something along the lines of "What do you want to do with this?". I was like "Okay, everything's going fine so far."
The problem came when I wanted to eject my HDD though. I couldn't find the icon in the little notifications area with the arrow. I couldn't eject the HDD from "This PC" either. In the end, I just unplugged it, since there wasn't anything too important on it.
I've tried enabling "Quick Removal" in the device manager, but that checkbox doesn't even show up. Instead, it's replaced with the "Write-caching policy" options. I've also tried turning the notifications on in the taskbar, but that doesn't work either. I turned on task manager, safely eject..., and location, but none of them show up. I've restarted my computer as well.
My sound won't work after I installed windows 10. I'm using Conexant SmartAudio HD by the way. I tried using youtube for a solution but everything was for older builds.
View 4 RepliesI upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 a few months ago. Yesterday the disc drive stopped working. I put in a disc I had made which contained various data, mostly text. When I clicked the D recovery drive nothing happened. In the past I would see a list of the videos on the disk and by clicking one of the items I could play it on Movies and TV. Now that doesn't work. I can play videos that I've downloaded and are in my videos file, but not videos from the disc drive. I have an HP Pavilion slimline desktop computer.
View 2 RepliesThe camera on my Toshiba S50-B laptop worked fine when on the original Windows 8.1 but doesn't work now that I have upgraded to Windows 10. It says "Something went wrong - make sure your camera is connected and not being used by another application". I have tried everything I know of and find no reason. Is there another driver required or ...? I cannot even find the camera.

View 2 RepliesMy laptop does not want to recognise the sound card/audio driver that are built into it. The fun part is this just happened. Audio played yesterday, and the time before that, and even before the upgrade. The only thing that has changed (or at least is the biggest change i can think of) is downloading and installing Cygwin (sans audio packages). In trying to play a song on the new microsoft Groove, i get this;
Further inspection in the playback devices, the only two options are the Speakers/Headphones and communications Headphones, the former of which i can only assume is my actual computer speakers (otherwise its completely gone!).Looking at the device manager, everything seems okay. All the drivers are up to date so im not sure what could be wrong there?
Its Windows 10 pro (upgraded from Win7 Pro) and the computer is a Dell Precision M4600. (I am pretty sure the audio driver is in the device manager image).
I've been attempting to use applications like Teamspeak or Google Hangouts, but whenever I try to use the built-in microphone on my laptop, it doesn't work. It did work when I was using Windows 8.1. The "update driver" button only says that it's up to date.
EDIT: I have also found that the microphone appears to be turning on and off, stopping any audio when it's on.
I updated to Windows 10 this morning, and after doing so realized that my side scrolling on my mouse pad (I'm on a laptop) doesn't work anymore. Googled, found out it was a driver issue, and went to download the correct driver.
However, acer aspire drivers don't have the touchpad driver updated for Windows 10 yet. Do I have to wait until the driver comes out to fix this issue? If so, how long that could take? (They have the important drivers updated already, those for bluetooth and wifi)
I have a multifunction HP C5280 printer connected via USB to my router that has a built in printer server and it's a couple of days I can't print through it from my laptop anymore (but I still can print from my smartphone as always).
The problem started when I removed the device from control panel to try installing the latest driver downloaded from the HP website, because I wasn't able to scan from it, but at least I still could print. Since then, even if the printer appears as ready, Windows doesn't even send documents to the spooler: the printer icon appears on the taskbar but it just says "0 document(s) pending".
Additional informations: I already uninstalled the downloaded new driver and installed back the previous working one and it's not a spooler problem since I can print if I directly connect the printer through the laptop USB.
I just upgraded to Windows 10 and have discovered a problem that I can't seem to fix. When I Right-click on my Touchpad, nothing happens. This was very useful when I need to fix a word spelling & get options for the misspelled word.
I have an HP Pavilion using Synaptics Touchpad.
would be great if the right click on my synaptic touchpad worked. Was fine until I moved from win7 to win 10.
View 1 RepliesI have searched and can't seem to find anything on the subject, but I have I user that occasionally locks his screen late at night (at home) with programs open (word, excel). When he checks his computer the next morning, many of the apps will have closed. No error messages are displayed, it does not appear to have restarted, and reliability doesn't indicate any issues. He is running Win 10 Education on a Lenovo Helix 2 with office 2016 installed, I can dig up his build info if needed.
View 1 RepliesThe Stylus Pro 7600 is now a really old printer, the last supported driver was for XP but it worked in Windows 7 and I believe to some extent in 8 although I never did try it.
It s a really good reliable large format printer though and very affordable in parts, ink and the second-hand purchase price.
However alas Windows 10 doesn't like it, I did the upgrade to 10 (and then the downgrade) from windows 7 but it will not see the driver it sees the device but calls it a USB high speed device or something like that and compatibility mode didn't seem to work.
So unless there is a clever work around and I'd love that to happen I'm stuck on Windows 7 for the duration.
When my computer sleeps or hibernates all the open programs close. When I wake up the computer, I have to recover or restore everything I was working on before. Very annoying. I have checked all the power settings and everything appears to be right, but this problems persists.
Drivers are all up to date, but it has always done this since new in June. I'm just getting around to trying to find a solution.

View 9 RepliesUpdated to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 two weeks ago.
Had problems with Firefox. Tried to download to replace existing Firefox. CNET site appeared to be correct but something seemed wrong so I killed the download. But.
- The windows start menu doesn't come up when I click on the icon, but if I right-click, a text menu does appear and lets me, for example, shut down.
.- If I click on the Windows End icon in the task bar, the screen flashes but End does not come up. Ditto for the Windows Store icon.
- Somewhere SpyBot S&D was erased, but I was able to download it.
- If I double-click on a photo in Windows Explorer, I get a popup that lists the name of the jpeg and says Invalid Entry to Registry. If I right click on the photo and go to any of the options the photo is opened except if I choose Photo.
- Firefox cannot properly display the Yahoo mail page, though Pale Moon and Opera can.
- I have Avast Anti-Virus and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and when I run their scans, they find no issues.
When I press the physical eject button on my laptops DVD drive Windows 10 completely locks up. Tray doesn't open either. Frozen cursor, ctrl alt del does nothing. I have to force a shutdown by holding the power button down. Going to My PC, right clicking the drive and selecting eject does work though. ASUS K65DE running Windows 10 Enterprise, clean install several months ago. Almost never use the optical drive so only just noticed this recently. Other than this Windows runs normally and the drive is usable. Device manager shows nothing out of the ordinary. Worked fine in Windows 8.1. Stock Windows supplied drivers used on all hardware.
View 9 RepliesI have an Acer laptop, bought in November, 2014 and about 6 months ago, I tried using the CD drive for the first time.It opened but it didn't read the disc.Now, I tried opening it and the button won't work and choosing Eject says: 'An error occured ejecting :G ' I tried uninstalling the driver and rebooting, trying to open by button while starting the laptop, etc. Nothing worked! View 9 Repliesi have my ASUS X555LD for almost a year now, so as far as date is concerned my laptop shouldn't be too old to suffer such illness. So it came with Win8.1 x64 of course and just recently, as soon as Windows 10 was released, i upgraded quickly.
but right after i upgraded to Windows 10, my laptop became ill and had this errors:
1. i got BSoD Most of the Time, one would say CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED or UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION. there are times my laptop would freeze in the BSoD, not even the 0% would move to 100%. so i had no other choice but to force shutdown it, and sometimes after turning my laptop on again i end up at my BIOS with no HDD nor BOOT ENTRY listed. as i experimented, i had to press slightly hard on the right side of my Laptop where my HDD is Located just for my Laptop to re-read my HDD once again, as soon as i got back to Windows 10, i ran an HDD Check and nothing was wrong, no bad sectors or anything. this is confusing me as to how it is happening. so i somehow got used to BSoD since my Laptop frequently experience it. sometimes just a simple movement that would shake my laptop would turn into BSoD again, i suspect something like my HDD or loose or the likes. i dont really know.
2. after the BSoD Case, a week or three i guess. i started to loose Audio Ability. it was just this morning, the Volume Icon has a "RED X" on its icon and states "No Audio Output Device is installed.". and after checking my Device Manager, to my surprise the Built-in Audio Device (Realtek) is not there. i don't know how or why it happened but i can't get it back.
even checking the sound tab on the control panel doesn't bring out Audio Devices.
i was wondering if ASUS or the PC Store where i bought my Laptop would fix it for me as per warranty is involved ?
I recently put my camera memory card into my computer to download photos. I couldn't open them and need to leave so hit "remove device" figuring that I'd go back later when I had more time to get them. When I went back and reinserted the card it didn't show up. I've tried to "add a device" but it still doesn't work. When I hit the device and printers icon it doesn't show up. What do I do?
