My lappie has USB3 ports. Or course I know the clock down to whatever device you attach. I have a 500G Seagate External rated at USB2. Meaning my transfers should be 480 megabits per second (mbps), or 60 megabytes per second (MBps), correct? So why am I getting half that speed if I am lucky. Not plugged into a USB hub or anything, straight into the port. IS there some setting I am missing?

I'm facing a very weird problem with Windows 10 on my new laptop. Every time I boot up or even wake from hibernate, my keyboard repeat rate gets reset to the slowest setting. I notice this only when I start using word or email.
The weirder thing is, in the keyboard settings window the setting would always be shown as "Fast", but actually it would be slow. To make it fast, I have to drag it to slow and then to fast again.
It starts at around 300MB/s but after a second it drops to 20MB/s. On Windows 7 it was usually around 100MB/s. This is for transferring to second hard drive. It's even slower transferring to USB drive, about 2 MB/s.
View 9 RepliesSince I upgraded to Win10 it takes FOREVER to transfer files from my SD cards via the built in card-reader. It worked fine prior on Windows 7. Now the speed meter BARELY goes above 0... The files do transfer, but it takes hours. I shoot a lot of photos, so I need to get this fixed. I did add an exclusion for explorer.exe in windows defender which was suggested by a post, but that didn't seem to do anything.
View 2 RepliesIf I tranfere big files and lots of them internally in my HDD Drive, I have noticed that if I play a videofile at the same time it will lag. I understand this is because the internal write and read speed is overloaded because of the file transfere.
What I want to know is, will the file transfere also slow down my download to the same drive, since the filetransfere is using almost all of the write speed?
i'm on Windows 10 on a 240gb ssd, I want to transfer to an WD caviar blue-[URL] I don't know if I should boot from the hdd, but when I plugged it in, it had all the old files from my previous pc and is split into 3 How do I delete everything on it? Do I set it as default from the setup utility? I don't really want to re-install windows 10 on the hdd the only files I have on the ssd is mostly drivers but documents and music I want to carry over
View 1 RepliesI tested the internal HDD with CrystalDiskMark and was able to get 109 MBPS both on sequential read and write tests. Then, when I tested my 1 TB WD My Passport USB 3.0 External HDD with CrystalDiskMark the sequential read and write speed did not exceed 40 MBPS the few times I tried. Got similar 30-40 MBPS speed when transferring movies from external HDD to internal HDD.So far, I have tried updating the external HDD and USB 3.0 Controller drivers. Tried with 'USB selective suspend setting' disabled (Under Power Plan Options). Also tried with write caching enabled. But havent been able to solve the issue.My laptop is running Win 10 Home 64-Bit. I am sure I used the USB 3.0 port. And, I used the USB 3.0 cable supplied with the external HDD. I don't have another USB 3.0 device so cannot figure out whether the issue is with my laptop of the external HDD.'
View 4 RepliesWindows 10 Pro is not playing audio at 96k sample rate. I have to lower the sample rate at 44k or 48k for Windows to play audio. When I play audio from my DAW software (Sonar X3) it plays at 96k without problems. Any audio played from windows or internet explorer does not work... My sound card is Motu 24io and used to play audio at 96k without problems on windows 8.1 Pro. There must be some issue with Windows 10 playing at 96k. I was thinking it might be the sound card, however the soundcard is working when I play audio at 96k through other software.

In Skype/Hangouts the camera is working BUT the frame rates per seconds are very low - around 5. So the picture is really laggy.
My driver is: USB2.0 VGA UVC WebCam. Device manager says the driver is up-to-date. In ASUS's website there aren't any webcam drivers.
The Conexant HD Audio Sound Driver was replace by High Definition Audio Device after i update to Windows 10 Home Version 1511 from 1011
Now if i want to plug my earphones to the left side of the computer where the audio jack socket is located the sound does not transfer to my earphones except i will change the default sound device from speakers to headphones.
How can i set it to automatically when i plugin my headphones/earphones/external speaker automatically transfer the sound to this device without changing the settings?
I have installed Windows 10 on my C: (SSD) but D: (Regular HDD) is super slow and i think it has something to do with admin rights and stuff.
Sometimes when opening folders with alot of videos (20+) It takes Windows 10 a super long time to process the folder (The green bar at top goes on forever before the "icon" images shows up.)
What might be causing this? Had no problems on Windows 7.
Why is w10 so slow to read a partition ?
For example if i click on a partition J , w10 start to read the partition but is a lot slower then w7 ...
In the control panel , Devices and Printers is slow to open. Takes a 5 sec or more search but it does finally open and all the devices are there.

For my mobo, Asus P8Z77-V-Deluxe, I downloaded the official asus chipset drivers.
There is one for Win8.1 x64 and a Beta version for Win10.
The chipset driver for Win8.1 has installed the following:
1. under Device Manager> IDE ATA/ATAPI controller > Inter 7 series/C216 chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller
2. Version 12.8.0.1016 - Date 2013/08/01
If I install the Asus Win10 chipset driver, then instead of the Inel SATA controller, I'll end up having Standard SATA controller by Microsoft.
I'm currently using the Asus beta Win10 chipset driver, however I manually installed the Intel SATA controller which is officially supported on Win8.1 and is digitally signed.
I ran two SSD benchmark test with AS SSD (latest version).
With just the official Win8.1 chipset driver as mentioned above, I'm getting the following results:

Can spot the difference?
I'm using an Intel SSD 240GB 520 series. Always loading very fast, i.e., about 8 seconds from cold boot.
Since windows 10 is installed, boot time is about 20 seconds and desktop icons take some time to refresh and load their images.
Regarding the boot time: I've narrowed it down the an unexplained read/write access on my external HDD eSATA which is used for backups, though currently all backup process are stopped.
When I remove / turn off my external HDD, boot time is about 8 seconds. I can't figure out why all of a sudden it required this access to this HDD.
As for the slow icon refresh.. how to fix this.
I have a prebuilt PC with Windows 10 installed on it. I want to upgrade the boot HDD to an SSD. Is it possible to do such a thing? If so, how do I transfer the OEM windows 10 from the HDD to SSD?

The laptop doesn't have a dvd drive, but of course usb ports And the laptop didn't come packaged with any cds or what-not like the old days And it's a Lenovo if that makes any difference.
I just finished installing windows 10 on my HDD that had windows 7 on it. I bought a SSD specifically for an operating system but when I put windows 10 on it is kept asking me for a key that I couldn't find? How can I get windows 10 on my SSD and I am willing to have to re download all of my programs.

View 1 RepliesMy old computer was a windows 8 that was upgraded to windows 10. I just ordered a new i5 6600 which comes with windows 10, a 250G SSD and 1 TB hard drive.. My old hard drive appears to be a Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA which seems to be the same as the one in my new Vanquish. My old hard drive is 2/3 full and is backed up often. My question is can I move this old hard drive to my new computer as a separate drive without formatting it and use the data on it (or transfer my data) or does it need to be formatted (thus giving me roughly 2 TB of space with the 1 TB provided with the computer). It was my C: drive in the old computer.
