Drivers/Hardware :: Sound Plug-ins On The Back Of MOBO?
Dec 13, 2015
I have seen this for a long time and just usually stick to the normal audio ports for everything but it has bothered me for a while. What are the sound plugs on the back of my motherboard for? They are colored as Black and Orange on the top and on the Bottom, Pink, Green and Blue. I was thinking of getting a surround sound system and have yet to find one that has plugs for these so what are they for and is there any surround systems

Whenever I mute my sound (either using media key on keyboard, or clicking the speaker icon on the system bar and the other one to the left of the slider, or dragging the slider all the way to the left), I'm not able to unmute it (the muted icon goes away, the actual sound doesn't come back).
Tried running the troubleshooter (finds nothing), restarting audio services (didn't change anything), reinstalling audio drivers (using the one from Realtek's site, 6.0.1.7541 x64), not sure what else there is to try.

When I play music through my laptop speakers, it plays well with bass but when connect and earphone or headphone to my audio jack, the music quality decreases and the bass of my headphone has extremely low bass. I don't know if it has to do with me updating to windows 10. I'm not sure. I have REALTEK HD AUDIO DRIVE.

So I got a new asus M5a97 for a new socket and whatnot and now when I shut down there are 2 issues (title bar not long enough for both). The first is whenever you shut it down it leaves all usb ports powered.
The second is that every second time you try to boot it goes to the asus screen where there's meant to be the little circle made of dots spinning and no circle appears nothing happens. Hardware all seems fine so not sure what needs changing.

Usually when we plug in a SATA drive it will show up in explorer but it doesn't now after I install Windows 10 (clean install). It work well when I'm on Win 7.
I've check the BIOS it indicate all ports AHCI an I never change anything since Win 7. So what could be the problem? As I swap drives often this feature really important for me...

The Conexant HD Audio Sound Driver was replace by High Definition Audio Device after i update to Windows 10 Home Version 1511 from 1011
Now if i want to plug my earphones to the left side of the computer where the audio jack socket is located the sound does not transfer to my earphones except i will change the default sound device from speakers to headphones.
How can i set it to automatically when i plugin my headphones/earphones/external speaker automatically transfer the sound to this device without changing the settings?

I just bought this sound card and installed drivers for Windows 10. (and a crapton of bloatware with UI of Win XP media player...)
Everything works well except one thing: when I change the sound (or mute) I don't see Windows 10 volume bar. I mean these:
The sound itself changes, but there is no indicator. Is there a way to fix that?

I would like to know wether I should download the free upgrade of windows 10 before or after I choose to upgrade my mobo and cpu.
I will be upgrading the mobo and cpu in September, as far as I'm aware, using my oem code I can continue to use 8.1 without another os purchase.
My question is: Will I be able to do the same with Windows 10, or should I wait until I have upgraded my hardware and then upgrade to 10.

I have my serial key and an install ISO saved on a USB, my question is when I install my new motherboard and processor, will I have an option to completely wipe the computer for the fresh install of windows with none of my previous saved memory. Essentially factory resetting but just with windows and drivers.
I've never done an upgrade like this before and I know you can boot and download the graphics drivers and such, but how do I get about wiping all the memory?

I just reset my pc and did a clean install of windows 10. I have a maximus vi hero mobo and for the management interface driver the mobo's site has v11.0.0.1155 but windows already has it installed for v11.0.0.1157 Should I use the latest version that has auto installed or is the one on the asus website better for me? Is it more specific to my board since its from the mobo's site?

Just since my Win 10 upgrade, if I plug in the charger the screen goes black. Then I unplug, it comes back on! I have played with the power settings, not much to rave about there, except one thing I barely caught a glimpse of. In the Additional power settings, at the bottom is the brightness control. When I plug in the charger, the slider goes all the way to the right. Is that not backwards? Anyway, what will fix this so it can be posted somewhere (like here) so people like me can find it.

I've got a little issue, whenever I plugin headphones (usb) I dont get sound and the sound is still going through speakers, I didn't had problem with this until the latest update on Windows, its really annoying cause everytime I want to switch to headphones I need to restart my PC. Yes I checked sound settings, the headphones are there when I plug them, there's just no sound.

My browsers continually freeze since "upgrading" to Windows 10. It is the now legendary "Shockwave Flash Player" issue - and it is intensely frustrating. Every day, use of any browser - explorer, chrome, firefox and that new "Edge" in Windows 10 results in pages freezing and the same tired old message about the Shockwave pulg-in not working.

After installing Windows 10? It works great, but will not turn off. I close it and it is still running and I can't get it to start back up until I remove the battery and plug it in.

Sound comes through perfectly fine on my laptop's built-in speakers. However, when plugging my headphones into the 3.5mm headset jack, there is no sound whatsoever. The system recognizes that my headset is plugged in. In fact, the microphone on my headset functions perfectly when plugged in, but the headphones themselves are outputting no sound.
I tested the headphones on other computers and devices, and they work. In Device Manager, the device is listed as "Realtek High Definition Audio". However, the only sound device listed in Control Panel is "DTS Audio Control Panel".
I've tried uninstalling the audio device from Device Manager, and then reinstalling the driver from Realtek's website. However, this is met with the exact same results... no sound through the headphones, and "DTS Audio Manager" is installed in the Control Panel instead of Realtek HD Audio Manager.
If I navigate to Control Panel -> Sound -> Playback, "Headphones" is not listed as a device. Instead, Speakers/Headphones is listen as the sole device. Also, I ran DirectX Diagnostic Tool, and it returned absolutely no errors.

There used to be a sound option in my taskbar like everyone remembers, but I had recently installed X-Split and that is the last time I remember seeing it there. I have been on the forums and Google looking for answers but everything I find tells me to go to the settings and hit enable all. This was already checked off but even trying to select individual tasks it's not there.
Need to restore the option, volume is stuck at 37% and can't change it so I've had to use my neighbor's DJ equipment just to watch netflix at something I can hear.I went one setting down to Turn system icons on/off and sound is greyed out can't adjust that.

I was looking at a video on youtube, didn't do anything, all of a sudden the sound goes out. I make sure nothing on youtube is muted and it wasn't. So I right click my "SPEAKERS" icon (I'm wearing headphones) I click SOUND, then I click the SOUND tab, and the "test" icon is greyed out, meaning I can't click it. I haven't had sound in 3 days and nothings muted.
