View 7 RepliesSometimes when I play videos there is no sound even though the volume is at 100% on both my laptop and the video. Is there any way to correct this?
View 5 RepliesEarlier today I was playing my usual online game when suddenly the sound stopped working. It had been working just fine earlier and I hadn't changed anything except maybe updating Adobe Flash. After a while the sound suddenly came back and then it disappeared and hasn't returned. I've been looking through all the Device Manager and Sound Control, but nothing seems to be working. When I slide the sliders in the volume mixer Speakers/ Headphones and System Sounds lights up green. In the sound panel on the speaker icon there is a green check mark. This is all happening on my pc not my mac. So I'm not sure if I pressed a button during my gaming or if adobe flash might've messed up something. I've posted this thread here because everything I looked up points to Drivers, but to me it seems like they're working???
View 6 RepliesI just upgraded my ASUS Laptop from Win 8.1 to Win 10 X64. (It has Via HD Audio)
Initially, sound worked but the microphone didn't. I fussed with many settings but nothing seemed to work.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, then the mic seems to work but sound doesn't.
Some of the events that I have encountered are: One message said "Windows has detected that Audio enhancements for the following device are causing problems". I disabled all enhancements but nothing changedBased on other posts, I tried to change the default format to 16 bit and other Hz. Nothing worked.I tried to play a test tone in the speaker setup and got the message "Failed to play test tone".I tried to update the drivers but was informed that I had the latest drivers
I went to the VIA web site to look for new drivers but there are none listed for Win 10.
Is there something else that I can do or is it just a matter of waiting for new VIA drivers? (VIA HD Audio is such a common audio chip that I find it hard to imagine that VIA and Microsoft haven't solved the driver problem - particularly given the Insiders Hub process!)
Problem:
1) Since updating to windows 10, Laptop completely incapable of making any sound out of the speakers.
2) Headphones plugged into jack produces no volume out of earbuds
3) The Color of the volume slider when F9 or F10 is pressed is a light yellowish orange. Not the Usual Green
4) Playing a test tone creates an error box "Failed to play test tone"
Things I have Tried
1) Downloading a new Driver (failed)
2) Resting the sound and Sound system (failed)
3) Finding the mute button and unmuting the computer (it wan't muted)
4) Restarting the computer
Edit: 5) Tried to switch playback options, There are only 2: 24 Bit: 48000 Hz, 16 Bit 48000 Hz (DVD quality)
Solution I want:
1) My toshiba to actually play sound out of speakers
2) toshiba to play sound out of headphones.
I'm not sure if this is a hardware of software problem. Any way I'm posting it on both Toshiba and Windows 10 Forums.
All my videos in face book you tube are running in slow motion on Windows 10, how do I fix it?
View 1 RepliesI have been experiencing an audio problem very recently with my laptop (Model Schenker C505).
Whenever I close my laptop lid, and make my laptop go to sleep, the audio will not reactivate once I wake it up. However, a restart of the system seems to do the trick and the sound starts working again.
I have updated all my sound drivers (Realtek High Definition Audio) and restarted Windows Audio and Audio Endpoint in system services but the sound just won't come on.
I have noticed that the laptop does not go to sleep nearly as quickly (almost instantly) as before when the sound was fully functioning. Perhaps this could be part of the issue?
So I've just recently upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8.1 and for the most part I have no audio. A few seconds after I started windows 10 I was able to get very low quality audio for about 5 seconds and then it just stopped working. (using mpv with a FLAC file) The only place that the audio works is the realtek audio manager sound test. I've tested other headphones with the computer and they haven't worked either. I've also tested my headset with other devices and it works fine. I've updated windows and installed the latest realtek audio divers and nothing except for the the sound test works. (I'm using an MSI z87 GD65 btw)
View 1 RepliesNot sure if this is the correct place to post this but anyway, I've noticed that Firefox is extremely slow when using Youtube when it comes to loading videos, but when I use Edge on Windows 10 it load just quickly without problems.
Any way to get Firefox to go faster?
Each time i watch a video in Chrome the browser start to behave weird, if i am on the same tab as the video playback and i try to type a word to search or url in URL bar and press enter the browser's loading icon never stops spining and i must close that tab and create a new one and the browser becomes really slow .My theory is:
A) Internet Download Manager may cause the problem
B) Google Account Sync may slow down the browser ???
C) The Avast online security add-on/plugin browser may is causing the problem
I imported a video to my windows 10 pc with my camera, it will play the audio but not the video.
View 1 RepliesThe welcome videos will not run at all on Windows 10?. YouTube videos fail after 6-7 seconds, and have no sound.
View 2 RepliesWhen I start a HD movie, or just have windows or Kodi on, I get this static noise, and when I play a video it gets even louder. It sounds like the volume is turned up really high. When there's sound from the movie you really can't hear it, but when it's a quiet part or only talking, it's audible.
However, since I watch shows and movies mostly with headphones, it's really an issue, it is very audible and disturbing. I've noticed that when I move my cursor in Windows I get a faint "extra" static sound.
I use a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo. I've tried disabling WiFi, Bluetooth, changing drivers, change where I connect the power cord in the wall.
This is not an issue with my xbox, or my old non-windows, non-pc media player. There was a very faint static on the old media player, but that can be attributed to many a thing, but wasn't a problem.
System:
Fanless htpc.
120W psu.(it's located at the opposite end of where my hdmi is connected, and uses an external block as a transformator.)
Skylake cpu.
Gigabyte z170n wifi MB.
After the last update on windows 10, sound dont work on my computer... No sound in programs, videos, music or system. Sounds works just in Chrome.
View 6 RepliesThe Conexant HD Audio Sound Driver was replace by High Definition Audio Device after i update to Windows 10 Home Version 1511 from 1011
Now if i want to plug my earphones to the left side of the computer where the audio jack socket is located the sound does not transfer to my earphones except i will change the default sound device from speakers to headphones.
How can i set it to automatically when i plugin my headphones/earphones/external speaker automatically transfer the sound to this device without changing the settings?
I just bought this sound card and installed drivers for Windows 10. (and a crapton of bloatware with UI of Win XP media player...)
Everything works well except one thing: when I change the sound (or mute) I don't see Windows 10 volume bar. I mean these:
The sound itself changes, but there is no indicator. Is there a way to fix that?
I just installed the most recent windows 10 tech preview last night; but my sound blaster pci express sound card did not get installed correctly or something because i am getting no sound at all. I roll everything back to the old setup.
View 9 RepliesI have just updated from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on my laptop and everything works fine except for videos. When I try to watch a video on Windows Media Player, I get a black screen but the audio of the video works fine. I have been using the VLC player without problems. YouTube videos for Microsoft Edge didn't work until I switched to use software rendering instead of GPU rendering. If I try to use the Film & TV for my videos, I get an error 0xc00d11cd (0x80004005) and to visit Xbox support. In the Xbox App, when I try to watch a friends video, it says the video could not be decoded. When I try to stream my Xbox, I get a black screen but the audio of my Xbox works with what I am doing on my Xbox controller. So the streaming works, but no video. i have tried everything.

I am not able to watch any YouTube videos or videos on other sites. Sound is good but screen is a wavey green colour. This wasn't an issue before I upgraded to Windows 10.
View 1 RepliesAfter I had upgraded to Windows 10 , I am constantly getting a green or black screen when ever I try to play any video. I get the sound but cannot see video. It has happened on YouTube , amazon videos and any other video I try to view.
View 19 RepliesUpgraded old laptop (HP Pavilion dv2225) to WinX and everything works except for sound. Device Manger (Win key+ X) shows no missing drivers for sound. Used to play AoK under Win 7.
View 2 RepliesMy computer (Asus transformer Aio) is very slow, it takes long to open a window or browse internet, or wake up from the screen saver. The hard disk is working non stop, the light is on all the time and I can hear it.
I tried to clean it with windows tools (defrag), and ran CCleaner and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware but they didn't find anything wrong. I just launched the Windows Defender complete analysis. The basic one says nothing wrong as well.
What could it be ? How can I manage this ?
So my sound has simply stopped working for the third time now and by stopped working I mean no audio where should be audio anywhere files or internet etc. The first time it happened was after my computer was shut down and turned back on. The second and third were the same. Its not a driver problem i have updated all my drivers including GPU ones. I have gone to the playback sound tab and fiddled there to no avail. Its not the head phones because they work on other devices. The last two time this has happened I have had to reset windows 10 and it fixed it but Im getting sick of having to re-download everything. So Im trying to find out how i can either prevent it or fix it without an OS reset.

All was good when we first uploaded windows 10 but suddenly all sound has failed although system says the devices are working. Also the CD / DVD had stopped working whilst again the system tells me all is fine.
Can a recent windows update have caused this?
Suddenly, sound recording stopped working in my Windows 10 machine. This was working pretty good in Windows 7. Later I upgraded it to Windows 10. It was working well initially. I even tested it with Cortana. Now, when I try to record, it doesn't work.
Tried with another set of headphones. => Not working
Tried with Ubuntu => Not working
Tried the same headphones in another machine => Didn't try
So I recently installed GTA 5 through Steam and started playing it with no audio issues, however for some reason now the sound does not work at all when it loads even though I didn't make any changes to my computer or install anything that may have caused an issue. I looked up the problem online and many people have the same issue but most of them seem to at least get sound during the loading screen, I don't have any sound in this game at all now.
I also had the same problem with World of Warships, one day the sound just stopped working. I tried playing with my playback devices, turning off the 'allow programs to take exclusive control of this device' for all the devices, reinstalling my audio drivers, direct x and now I'm pretty much out of things to try. Other games in Steam still work fine with no audio issues.
