View 9 RepliesAs shown below there are 2 drives missing from the Navigation Pane (vertical bar on the left of the File Explorer). How do I show them up there?
View 9 RepliesWhen opening it i don't want to see Frequent folders and files, how can i change it so i can see only the drives?
View 4 RepliesWhy my attached drives show twice? I only had this happen on one USB drive before the Windows 10 recent update, but now both external drives are repeated twice! (See attached)
View 3 RepliesI just completed an update installation on a desktop PC running Windows 7. Now my hard drives show up as removable drives.
Normally this is due to the need to install an AHCI driver. And that is normally the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver for Intel chipsets. The driver was installed in Windows 7.
Is this a case where I need to manually install a new IRST Driver for Windows 10? If so, should I uninstall the existing first, or will the new one overwrite the old?
I updated a few machines from 10240 to 10586 (upgrade).
I usually like to have my desktop icons on the toolbar instead of the screen (like to see full theme).
Now the funny thing is that if I decide to show desktop on toolbar sometimes removable drives and even all hard drives will show on desktop toolbar but not on screen.
Here is a pic showing that removable drive is not on desktop.
Now look. If I set desktop to toolbar. Removable drive is there. (Orange circle around it) Some users see all their drives (Fixed and removable) on desktop toolbar but not on screen.
When I insert any removable drive (USB, SD cards, etc) the device shows up twice in Explorer. Once under "This PC" tree and the other as a device. See attached pic (USB Drive H):
I remember hearing about this being the way it's designed to work, but frankly it's a bit silly - I only need to see a single entry for the drive/device...
Is there any way to get rid of one of these entries without stuffing up some other Explorer feature?
I'm running Windows 10 Pro, Build 10586.71. Why I have my external hard drives showing twice in File Explorer (see Attachment) ...
I've had this since the first install of Win 10 ...
Recently I was trying to add comments to movie folders so that i can keep a brief description about it when i click on it. It was easy to add comment then i had a bit trouble to get the comment getting displayed in the details pane...after playing with the registry for a while i got that solved as well.
Now I ended up with a problem where the comment being displayed eds with just some 3 or 4 words with the remaining given in dots (...) and I get a full display of it when i hover the mouse over it, which obviously goes way in 5 seconds or so.
So what i need is to find a way to expand what ever that is shown in the details pane so that it shows the entire content in consecutive lines without being restricted to one line (without having to hover a mouse)
You might get a picture of it if you have a small details pane on the right and make it show your processor details when you open thisPC.
Why does drive F & G show up twice in navigation pane? They are external HDs.
View 2 RepliesAfter a system refresh of Windows 10 all external disk storage drives, Micro SD and USB are listed twice in file explorer. This is a common problem, reported many times in forums and community support web sites. Could a solution be to reload file explorer. Is this possible and where would I find the download?
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to show control panel and recycle bin in the navigation pane without enabling 'all folders'?
View 7 Replieswindows 7, I was able to to go into file explorer and would be able to see the document in the preview pane using PDF viewer Plus. Now I am unable to see anything. I cant seem to see any way to configure the file explorer to see any pdf files. Word files ok just seems to be the pdf files.
View 9 Repliesall I have is 'desktop'. Everything else is under that. But all the pics I've seen of windows 10 show 'this PC' as the top level link. I would much prefer that. "desktop' ends up being twice in the tree, and removable media twice as well. Well, actually desktop is right inside my user folder too!
View 5 RepliesI recently uninstalled Adobe Creative Cloud. Even after uninstalling, a folder named "Creative Cloud Files" remains in the File Explorer. I can't find a way to delete this. How can I remove this folder?
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to move the info pane to the bottom of Explorer windows, similar to Windows 7? Seems easier to read for music files especially, rather than having long word wrapping for artist/album titles and so on.
View 1 RepliesHere is the problem:
In file exlorer:
when I have the preview pane is open,
I select a file,
I start typing the name of a document to find it, but the file explorer doesn't take me to the file. (it doesn't find it/highlight it)
When I turn off the preview pane, the file explorer finds the files without any issues.
In Windows 7, it did this without a problem, in the same folder.
Admittedly, I do have over 40,000 files, but since it worked fine with Windows 7, I don't think this is a problem with the number of files.
When I open File Explorer there are a number of items listed in the left pane. Is there a way to remove some of them that I do not use like Videos and Music? Also at the bottom, after Network is Homegroup. I do not use Homegroup. Can I delete it from this list? I have other computers that do not list Homegroup so why does this one list it?
View 5 RepliesI am really missing the ability to easily see how much storage space is left on each of my drives. Why is this not easily seen just by opening "This PC" like it was in Windows 7. It seems like I have to click on properties in order to see disk usage.
View 6 RepliesI have two drives, an SSD (with Windows on) and a hard drive (with all my files on).
When using the start menu to search for something, it will only show results that are on my SSD. This is annoying as the majority of the things I'm looking for when searching are on my HDD, so I have to open explorer and go through all my documents trying to find the single file I'm looking for.
I was previously advised to change my indexing options. I've changed my indexing options to include my hard drive when searching, but it has still not changed.
Here's what my indexing options look like .....
The File Explorer program displays all my "lettered-drives" twice.
View 4 RepliesI have several server drives mapped to my Surface Pro 3 tablet, and from time to time they disappear from Windows Explorer and XYplorer (an Explorer replacement). They are still there and mapped, as Net Use shows them mapped properly. But to get them tho show up in either Explorer or XYplorer, I have to physically remap them (right click: Map Network Drive...) and when I do so they already show up with the proper drive connection but won't appear unless I finish the remapping. XYplorer has a tool to reconnect all network drives, but nothing happens there.

Everything works apart from that, bluetooth headset, games, videos, browsers, email etc. and... windows search doesnt work, doesnt turn out any results even if i search for something like notepad
How do I stop explorer being default.I cant even view PDF's on adobe.I cant find the tools in the menu.
View 8 RepliesMy new windows 10 only sees my PC - when searching for my files in Explorer, it cannot 'see' my two external drives when I plug them in. I've looked in Device Manager and they are not showing in there either. How can I tell Win 10 to access my external drives?
I thought Win 10 would automatically spot my external drivers the moment I plugged them in? Then it would go search for and install the appropriate drivers - but it isn't doing that..
My Windows 10 File Explorer is muddled showing many items, and in particular USB Flash Drives twice!
