My Super Multi DVD Burner will only play CDs, now that I upgraded to windows 10. Every time I insert a DVD I get the Windows DVD player, which says "To play something, insert a DVD", & above the controls it says, "Error: Video could not be decoded", Yet it will play any CD I insert.
When I tried to play a disc in the dvd player nothing happened, so I checked in Device Manager and the dvd had a yellow triangle on it, so I uninstalled it then restarted the computer. There was no change so I checked the error report and found this:
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
I opened regedit and went to {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, there was a lower listed but not an upper. I restarted the computer but the DVD still is not working.

View 12 RepliesI recently upgraded to Windows 10 and an SSD. I know you are supposed to run in AHCI for an SSD, and did a full Windows 10 install after enabling this setting in BIOS. Now my CD/DVD burner will spin up, but will not read disc's in Windows.
View 9 RepliesMy CD/DVD burner disappeared from the File Explorer, Device Manager, and Computer management two days ago. Today I found it in the device manager by looking under "hidden devices". Following instructions from the Microsoft site I uninstalled the driver and restarted the computer as instructed but this failed and now the device doesn't show under the Device Manager-DVD/CD-ROM devices. I have googled all over to find a driver for it. {Lite-on iHAS324-09A} . Even Lite-on wants me to buy a program to detect and update my drivers and if Lite-on has the drivers on site I sure can't find any. I expect that I could likely buy a new CD/DVD burner just as cheap. I downloaded a couple but have yet to see the CD/DVD burner listed. I am dual booted and it did show In Linux Mint and I could look at a CD's contents. I have spent hours on this and now am completely lost as to what to do next.

OK, 2 days before I upgraded to Windows10 my DVD was working. I know because I was burning disc's. After I upgraded, I now only have 1 DVD drive instead of the 2 I had before. I went into my BIOS and it only see's the one drive.
I've never heard of an operating system that could cause the BIOS to 'not see' a drive. Is that possible? I put a new SATA cable on and that made no difference. Or is it just a coincidence that my mobo no longer see's it? I really don't want to uninstall 10 just to find out, it takes to long to put it on.
Was running Win 8.1 and WMM worked great. Upgraded to Win 10 and now all I get is audio when trying to edit a video. Tried converting the file to WMV file and got the same result. Audio only, no video. These videos are shot from my phone then transferred onto my laptop. VLC plays them just fine.

I'd like to do some basic editing whether is be with WMM or some other free editing software.
After upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 my audio now plays through my headset and through my computers speakers.

-Have you updated your drivers: Yes I have.
-Have you set the headset as default device: Yes I have.
-What audio do you have: Ok, I not sure which one I have, but I can find VIA HD and on Windows 8.1 (not on Windows 10) I use to have Realtek audio manager which I have now lost.
-What headset do you have: Sennheiser G4ME ZERO.
My problem is with the Photos application that comes with Windows 10. When clicking on the slideshow button, the app plays through the pictures in the folder, though at some point through the slideshow (roughly 20-30 pictures in,) it loops right back to the picture where I started, even if there are other photos in the folder.

View 1 RepliesI recently opted for the free Windows 10 upgrade (still debating if it was worth it) from a Windows 7. Long story short, there was a new problem every day so I just wiped everything and did a clean install hoping the old windows 7 files would stop clashing with the new windows 10 files. All went well and was working fine when boom my speakers start acting up. Don't know what I did to trigger it, it just started doing this.
Basically, when using my USB connected headset, everything runs fine, sounds nice, no problems. When I change over to my desktop speakers though, all audio and video goes into "slow motion" and makes obnoxious sounds. Computer doesn't lag, just audio and video for YouTube, games, etc.
I've tried reinstalling drivers via device manager and it says it's all up to date. I just tried installing Realtek audio driver manually and now it won't even play sound through the speakers. I know the speakers are fine because they sound beautiful when plugged into my ps4.
Update: After installing Realtek and doing a restart, the speakers are in fact making sound, but now it's also extremely quiet and scratchy. Had to crank it to max just to hear anything.
Update: May have fixed my problem, at least temporarily.
I went to device manager and deleted the speakers then restarted so that it would auto reinstall them. Seems to work fine again...
Update: As I had guessed, it was only temporary. Sound and video just started going all slow motion again. Back to square one and back to the drawing board...
After upgrading to Windows 10, Windows Media Player no longer will play .mp4 or .wmv videos. They played fine in Windows 7, but now, when I try to play a video in WMP, I get an error message saying that WMP is unable to play the file. I am using the latest Shark007 codecs which say are fully tested and supported for Windows 10. Is there a newer version of WMP for Windows 10, or is there something else I need to do?

View 3 RepliesI recently Factory reset pc with windows 10 on which has deleted windows 10 and everything else it seems bios deleted too when I turn it on and it starts up it comes up with "An operating system wasn't found, try disconnecting any drivers that don't contain an operating system"
How do I sort this I built this pc myself I got two disks one graphics card driver and another for the other drivers I think like the on board graphics, wifi etc... don't have a windows disk to place in tray but can find someone who does... will it work if I just place the windows 7 disk in?
I hate that every time I plug in my headphones I get the annoying sound and notification that they're plugged in (for some reason it sounds off twice every time they're plugged in actually). So in preferences I turn off Realtek HD Audio Manager, which fixes the problem, but when I restart my computer it's back on. Preferences were working fine until about a couple months ago when Windows updated.
View 2 RepliesI have updated to Windows 10. After scouring the internet for options, I need to turn to ask the experts. Movies play, songs play... even the system sound previews play when I pick a sound scheme. But under normal computer operation, no system sounds play. The recycling bin, system errors, windows boot and shutdown, and email notification sounds are all silent in regular computer operation. I have performed the two prescribed sound card driver tweaks described online for issues of no sounds working at all.
View 3 RepliesMy laptop came installed with a 4GB RAM in slot2. The other slot has been free. Today I bought another 4GB module with same specifications and after inserting to slot1, it did not get detected.
I swapped the modules, and the new RAM is functioning perfectly. However, the RAM in slot1 is not getting detected. I have installed CPU-Z, but it too did not detect slot1.
I have also run a memory test, but it did not detect any errors. The BIOS is also showing only 4GB!
I need my laptop to have 8GB RAM.
My system volume is very high, and 15 seconds later or something close to that the volume goes back up to max. this is really irritating, because when i get a notification or use cortana it hurts my ears, and when i change the volume it goes back up... Need keeping the volume down?
View 1 RepliesI'm pretty sure the problem originates from the Windows 10 driver for Intel HD Graphics. In short while playing video the system will occasionally hiccup and freeze for a minute or two and resume like nothing ever happened. The mouse works but keyboard, mouse clicks, touchscreen everything else including CTL ALT DEL are unresponsive. Never had this problem in 7 or windows 8, no errors recorded in the system log.
Majority of the time it occurs when playing video through VLC and through Chrome or Edge, sometimes but rarely it will freeze while in Visual Studio. I think it is a graphics driver problem mainly because Visual Studio would freeze a lot until I turned off graphics hardware acceleration.
My computer was running fine until January but suddenly I open optimisation tool to check if everything is all right but i find out that it stays on 4% whenever I open the optimisation tool and when I click on analyse then it says 9% fragmented but when I click on optimise it stays at 4%. I also had ISO file problem but i solved that and now today, I opened optimise tool and it now shows 9%.
View 8 RepliesI have a drive that I want to use as a backup drive for a Windows 10 machine. The problem is the old drive has a boot partition on it that is making Windows 10 go nuts every time I plug it in. If I wait until after the machine boots and then plug it in via USB adapter then I can get to the files but I want to install it inside the machine permanently.A photo of the Disk Manager is below. How do I (or should I) remove that EFI System Partition? The Disk Manager won't let me do it.

The thing is though, they display properly in the "This PC" Section so I know they are plugged in correctly.
As from today I've got 2 SEE. Both time I was playing PC Game.All started after Win 10 installed updates today. My drivers are up to date ( will check again to be sure ).
View 1 RepliesI had this issue with my PC in January and went to all the trouble of a rebuild and a new motherboard. That was with Windows 8.1. However I now have this issue in Windows 10, it suddenly started a month ago. I am not moving the mouse or pressing any buttons. There is a 2-3 minutes gap and the system comes out from 'sleep' mode.
View 3 RepliesOn my laptop I have a 1 TB HDD and on that drive the usable space was formatted into 2 separate partitions. This doesn't work well for me and I would prefer to have just one partition with all of the usable space. So I've tried everything I can think of and for some reason I just can't get the partitions to merge or even delete the secondary partition and expand the one I want to use. I have some pictures below to show what's going on.
This one shows the two partitions that I want merged.
This next one shows that I cannot extend the partition even if the other partition was deleted and is unpartitioned space
This last one shows that even with a 3rd party software I get the same result as EaseUS Partition Master doesn't give me the option to merge or move/re-size the partition
So at this point I'm stumped and I don't understand why this won't work as I've done the same thing with many other computers easily in disk management.
