My external hard disks , and one MP3 player (all USB devices) are no longer recognized, nor appear on "This PC", after I upgraded my Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 OS. Other devices, such as my Android phone USB connection still works well. I made sure that the "Automatic download of driver software for devices" is turned on in the Device Installation Setup.
View 2 RepliesWhen starting up my laptop this morning, my wireless mouse didn't work. I replaced the battery, still didn't work. Tried on another computer, the mouse did work. I went to look in device manager, the mouse wasn't detected by the laptop. I tried to connect my external harddrive, it got power but also wasn't detected by my laptop. Everything worked fine yesterday.
View 2 RepliesLaptop Samsung NP300V5A. Sound stops working about a month after Win 10 upgrade. No changes done at the time.Audio devices show up under Device Manager, but not under Playback/Recording Devices. Same for Realtek Sound Manager - it doesn't see the devices. I can install, delete and update drivers under Device manager but it doesn't make any difference. It is not a physical problem, tested on Linux live CD.
Solutions tried:
-Installing various versions of HD Realtek Drivers (including windows update version)
-Installing/Removing Realtek software.
-Enabling/Disabling devices under Device Manager
-Called spirits of ancestors. Seemed like it worked for a while, but ended up being a joke.
-Did system restore to various dates.
-Restarted in safe mode
-Restarted various services such as Windows Audio, Windows Audio Endpoint Builder, Plug'n'Pray, Power, etc.
-Checked system, application and driver even logs.
-Tried a couple of registry fixes. Angered spirits of ancestors. Turning gray..
-Reinstalled chipset drivers
-Rebooted about 30 times
-Sound Device Troubleshooting finds no issues
-Display Disabled Devices is enabled
I have windows 10 preview 10565 installed on two computers. I have "Sync your content" on in Edge. Should my bookmarks get synced between the two computers? Do I need to do something else to get it work other than turning syncing on?
If it doesn't work, is there a file I can go to on one computer, copy it, and they move it to the other to get the bookmarks? Would really prefer it to sync though but at least this would be a start.
so before I wiped my entire PC the sound was working flawlessly - I would use the audio inputs for the Razer Blackwidow Chroma and it would work perfectly.Since the reset however, no sound has been discoverable, I get a red x on my speaker, and it says "No audio drivers installed" on "Playback Devices" I have tried putting my headphones in every audio jack on my PC (front, back and keyboard) and it still isn't picking my headphones up, I have installed the latest drivers and still no joy.
View 1 RepliesWindows finally bullied me into upgrading to Win10 from Win7 yesterday. Now some things that used to be clickable aren't. Like this little window, for example.... nothing on it responds to the mouseovers OR clicks.
View 9 RepliesI just went from Windows 7 to 10 and now my USB keyboard and mouse are unresponsive.
View 5 RepliesWindows 10 should find new drivers through the update mechanism, which doesnt work always though. And if you go into device manager and click on a device and do a look for new drivers, it always finds new ones with a high chance. But it' just stupid to click all 100 devices single through. Isnt there a smart way to do this? Why isnt there an option for search and download all devices drivers.
View 7 RepliesSuddenly when I turned on my machine, the left click button on touchpad will no longer work, right click works fine but no left click. This is also true for the touch screen. If I touch the window icon to open the menu, it changes color but does nothing. Things I tried:
1-Connected an external mouse and it also doesn't work with left click.
2-I tried a restore point from last week to see if that solved the problem. Still the same.
What I did to disable the left click button. Could have been caused by a windows update?
After a series of updates, one of which must have been at issue, ALL of my conversion software applications now fail to /convert/ any files. The programs load properly but that is followed by various issues depending on the app.
Tipard will load, load video files, and start to convert... but immediately fail upon starting the conversion process.
Handbrake will load, but locks up on loading a file, any file, regardless of length, at the 20% mark.
MakeMKV won't load at all.
VLC randomly crashes, or refuses to play videos, music, or anything, after an undetermined amount of time.
My FTP software no longer loads its settings files and scripts.
And an annoyance, all of a sudden all my icons have little green check marks on them.
Windows 10 Professional x64
Version 1511
Build 10586.63
AMD FX 9590 X8 4.7
32 GB ram
Tipard Blu-Ray Converter Version 7.3.30. No message just an icon notice. See photo
handbrake 0.10.3.0 x64: Preset Export Failed. Unable to load in Presets. Please restart HandBrake No additional exception information available : upon startup. Added files freeze program at 20% mark
MakeMKV (What version, won't load at all)
Paint won't save any files anymore. See same photo
Why can Microsoft understand I don't want to use these POS Realtek drivers. I use to disable driver updates from Windows 10 by going into Device Installation settings and Never install drivers from Windows update but now since the last stupid update everytime the POS Realtek drives install automatically no matter how many times I roll back and remove them. I hate the Realtek drives because the audio is super loud and sounds terrible. I just want to use the Microsoft HD Audio Driver which sounds great and uses little resources but no Windows 10 decides that the POS Realtek driver is better.
View 7 RepliesI gave up on trying to do a clean install, so I just deleted every single program in control panel.
All of my drivers were either automatically updated or I was able to update them myself.
These three are listed as unknown. The drivers won't update.
I ran the Intel Driver Update Utility, and it said no drivers found.
I checked the Asus driver page, and the driver list barely had anything at all.
Pretty sure these are named something like thermal, collaborative, and something else.
I've been using Win10 since the general release. This was an update install on a Win7 laptop.Apart from a few issues (waking from sleep on scheduled tasks, lack of control on updates) I have a problem with external devices.
If I use several USB flash drives/harddrive I'm able to eject one or two but then I can't eject any others. When this happens I don't get the menu option to eject/safely remove the device through "explorer" and the drive doesn't appear in the "safely remove" icon on the task bar. I can still access the drive without issue just don't have any way to eject except to shutdown the laptop. If I reboot the laptop but leave the device attached the eject option reappears.
The laptop is fully patched and I can't work out what is happening and google hasn't revealed any similar problems except the normal "device is in use" message.
Since my PC was updated to Windows 10 I have been having trouble with USB devices not working. It appears the drivers do not load or do not work. Example is my Saitek rudder pedals. They appear to be fully installed and appear in the device list but they do not work. I go into the device manager and update the driver to the exact same driver and it works. I plug in my iPhone and it is recognized as an iPhone but appears in the Other Devices with a yellow exclamation. A check and it says there are no drivers. Manually find the drivers and update them and it is good until I pull it out. Next time I plug it in same thing. Phantom 3 pro wont show the disk drive and have to load in a generic disk drive driver and all good. This list goes on.

I purchased this laptop some months ago using Windows 8.1. I had so many problems and hated the OS so much I upgraded to Windows 10. I have found that some devices I plug in via USB work just fine but some do not. It seems that the more sophisticated devices do not work.
I have a few HDDs from old laptops that I have put into caddies - these work fine connected by USB. However the following do not work at all when connected by USB.
* Nook Glowlight
* Samsung Galaxy S3
* Toshiba Stor.E HDD
* CBA Digital HDD
They all light up indicating that they are charging however there is no drive registered in This PC, nothing appears in Devices and Printers, nothing that I can find anywhere that indicates that the PC detects a thing. There are no error messages or notifications. This is true for all the USB ports.
I've tried a few things over the last few weeks for each device as I've learned that another doesn't connect but I think it might be best to start from scratch and assume nothing about how far I have got. I'm finding ways round connecting the Galaxy and there's nothing too pressing right now on the HDDs that I need to access.
I have once again run into a problem with W10, and it's getting very frustrating with all these errors and malfunctions that W10 has. The problem is that when I plug a USB-device in my computer, no sound is being played to signal that the USB-device has been recognized, and that really seems to be the case. I can't even use my mouse.
I believe the problem started after the latest update for Windows 10 which took place about one day ago. Otherwise what could cause this kind of error.
I have been also wondering if it is possible to downgrade my laptop back to Windows 8. Windows 10 is clearly a very unstable OS released in a hurry and I have encountered the most bizarre problems with it, including Sony Vegas Pro 13 not launching any more.
In the control panel , Devices and Printers is slow to open. Takes a 5 sec or more search but it does finally open and all the devices are there.
View 9 RepliesHow can I disable WPD devices Write Access on Windows Home Editions because there is no GPEdit.msc on Windows Home Editions.
View 3 RepliesMy Taskbar no longer has the devices icon, the one which allows you to 'safely remove a device' such as a USB drive. What happened to it. I hoped re-booting might bring it back but it has not. How do I recover it?
View 2 RepliesWhen I go to Control Panel > Devices & Printers, it takes a good 20 seconds for the progress bar to move across the window and the Devices & Printers window to open.
View 7 RepliesI've upgraded my ASUS U36SG from Windows 8.1 Professional to Windows 10 Enterprise. Everything went fine unless the issue "no audio output devices are installed",
I've tried almost all the solutions for that problem in other similar threads without any success.
Consider that now, in my Device Manager I can see this (OS is in italian):
Both Microsoft and Realtek HD Audio Driver up to date to their last version.
But, no audio (or microphone) device:
I also write to ASUS and they first suggested me to install a legacy version of the Realtek Audio Driver (v 6..0.1.7503) then to rollback to Windows 7 Pro (I'm not joking...)
How to get my laptop to have its sounds back?
I've got the error code 52 in device manager for all 3 imaging devices (an internal and an external web cameras and an HP scanner). I was using Windows 8.1 on my Toshiba Satellite laptop and upgraded to Windows 10 Home edition a few months ago. All the time the imaging devices worked normally and I seemingly some Windows update resulted in to code 52 (Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device).
Unfortunately returning to previous restore points did not work. I tried to remove the upper limit filter which I found in the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet001ControlClass{6bdd1fc6-810f-11d0-bec7-08002be2092f}. As the result the yellow triangles and errors with code 52 disappeared and scanner could work, but both cameras still fail to work. So I restored the registry to the previous state. All the drivers are up to date.
I'm having trouble with USB devices not showing up in windows explorer. I put in a thumb drive with data on it, but it's not in win explorer. I went to device manager and found the TD under disk drives. Also my external 3T G: disk drive is there. The thing is that my G: drive shows up twice in win explorer, once as a disk drive and the other as an expansion drive. I still can't see the TD. So how can I look at the drive or do anything with it. The light on it is on and the computer see's it, but no way to access it. I have the latest windows updates. I have all usb and hid unchecked for the computer to put them to sleep if not used, but that doesn't work.
View 9 Repliesi don't have any bluetooth or even wireless devices but in the action center bluetooth is always turned on! and when i click on it, Its just open Settings.
View 9 RepliesI have a problem with my iPhone 5s/iOS 9.2.1 in Windows 10 Pro x64 Build 10586.71, as shown in the pictures:
Although everything works OK, i.e.
-iTunes v.12.3.2.35 recognizes it, backs it up and syncs it
-I can see its content from Windows Explorer
-and in Device Manager has the latest drivers for both Apple iPhone & Apple Mobile Device USB Driver
The iPhone is shown in "Devices and Printers" under Unspecified Devices.
