Drivers/Hardware :: Updated OS And Can't Scroll Down Pages - Mousepad
Oct 2, 2015
I recently updated my OS to Windows 10 and now whenever I try scrolling down or up a page using my mousepad, nothing happens and it doesn't scroll. How can I fix this?
I have the Asus Flip 2in1 13.3" TouchScreen Laptop Intel Core i3 4GB Memory 500GB Hard Drive Black TP300LADS31T
I updated to Windows 10 this morning, and after doing so realized that my side scrolling on my mouse pad (I'm on a laptop) doesn't work anymore. Googled, found out it was a driver issue, and went to download the correct driver.
However, acer aspire drivers don't have the touchpad driver updated for Windows 10 yet. Do I have to wait until the driver comes out to fix this issue? If so, how long that could take? (They have the important drivers updated already, those for bluetooth and wifi)
I just installed Windows 10 and have got a problem that has me stumped. I have two GPUs, an EVGA GTX 760 as my primary and a GTX 560 Ti running a second monitor. The 760 had no issues in the upgrade, but no matter what I do to the 560, it shows up in device manager as Code 43. I'm trying to gauge if it's an issue with the fact I have two dissimilar GPUs or a bit of software not liking that particular card. My gut says software, but I don't know exactly what. I've done some googling to the effect and seems to be I'm not the only one with troubles but didn't find a fix that worked.I don't want to roll back just yet and my 760 can pick up the slack easily, so if there's a fix on the horizon I can wait. Otherwise, I'll have to check my options.
A few days ago I updated my HP Envy laptop from Windows 8 to Windows 10. I used to be able to close the lid and the computer would enter sleep mode, and come out of it when I opened the lid. After updating, it now goes into hibernation mode when I close the lid. In the Sleep and Power Settings, the only options available for me to choose for when I close the laptop lid are "Do Nothing," "Hibernate," and "Shut Down."
Following recommendations for similar issues, I updated the driver for my display adapter. Unfortunately, this hasn't changed anything. I've noticed, however, that in the Device Manager, the symbol next to the Intel(R) HD Graphics Family has a little exclamation point in a yellow triangle. Under the display adapter Device status it reads "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
In addition to finding no mention of sleep mode anywhere on my computer, I'm now unable to change the screen brightness by any means.
I read somewhere that I can allow sleep mode by changing something related to the BIOS? This sounds complicated.
They changed mouse scroll to scroll next/previous instead of zoom. I use a Logitech mouse with Setpoint installed and because of Setpoint smooth scroll, it scrolls through several photos on one scroll. Turning smooth scroll off, it doesn't always scroll next when the mousewheel "clicks". Another thing with my Logitech mouse is that I can't use the forward/backward buttons. They function as left click. Double click any and it zooms in. I can't change Setpoint settings per app because Photos isn't really a typical exe app like Notepad.
The last thing is that it seems to sharpen the photos even when I turned auto adjustments off. Compare Photos to Firefox and even Windows Photo Gallery and you'll see.So far, Windows Photo Gallery seems like a good alternative, except it doesn't play gifs (unless you click next frame really fast).
I just upgraded my windows 7 original install on my Toshiba Laptop (3 years old) to the Windows 10 Home Preview Build (10130 was installed). Everything appears to be working EXCEPT my touchpad will not scroll. It is a Synaptics V7.5 on PS-2 port. I went to the Synaptics website and don't see a windows 10 driver for this...How can i get the scrolling to work on the touchpad (everything else seems to be working on the pad)..
my Win7 to Win10 upgrade. _While using_ the computer the mouse scroll settings reset to 1. This can happen a couple of times during the day even though the computer never has been in sleep mode etc. Computer is a Lenovo X230 with i5-3320M. It has Synaptics touchpad drivers. I am using a docking station with a USB Logitech mouse.
For some reason two finger scroll just stopped working even though it was working about an hour ago. Why it changed or what i did to change it. I tried entering the control panel, mouse, then synaptics settings, and enabling vertical scrolling, but that didn't seem to fix the problem.
Lenovo Thinkpad R500 - Touchpad scroll works in Internet Explorer, Firefox, File Explorer, Device manager and some other places, but it does not work in Start menu or any menu under Control panel, Edge or Windows Store - no matter what I have tried it simply will not Scroll - There is no doubt this a BUG.
I'm guessing it a bug in windows registry, but don't know where to find it. I have been through most that has to do with ALPS. Where the registry settings for the MS software scroll option are.
Touchpad/Trackpoint: ALPS UltraNav 2 - I have the newest driver from lenovo an ALPS don't have driver download available. But can't see how its a driver issue when it works in Device manager and the other places.
I tried getting MS support engineers at MS forum, to take a look at it, but they have this attitude that its driver issue and not Windows bug. Besides that, they never read the question before dishing out some standard solution like "try going to safe mode to see if the problem persist" - That is not going to work, since the drivers that control the scroll will not load in safe mode and then scroll will not work at all, a "real" technician would know that.
Scrolling right now in Firefox - If i go to Edge or Store, its not working.
My laptop touchpad scrolling stopped working this morning after I updated my gpu driver. I went to the packard bell website and looked at the touchpad drivers for my laptop. There is a synaptics one and a elan one.
I have them both installed on my laptop but it still isn't working and there is still no virtual scrolling option in synaptics. These are the options that I have in the synaptics settings:
This is what it should look like:
What do I have to do to get the scroll trackpad feature to work again? P.S, when in device manager, even though there is an ELAN tab in mouse properties, Only the synaptics driver shows up under the mice section in device manager. Does this mean that the synaptics driver is replacing the ELAN and I need them both for the scroll to work.
The mousepad on my laptop is not working now that I have updated to windows 10. I have reinstalled the correct drivers from advent and gone through the mouse settings but nothing is working. The laptop is an advent monza s200
Since installing Windows 10, I am having a lot of trouble clicking on areas and loading menu options using my mousepad. For example;
- When I go into the start menu, if I go to click on the Power option, it will not load the menu where I can choose to restart, shut down, etc. The menu will flash up for not even half a second and disappear.
- Another example: when signing up for an account on this website, I was prompted to select a photo from a group of photos for validity but when I clicked on a photo it would not acknowledge this. I was also unable to use the mousepad to click on the tick option to confirm I agree to the terms and conditions etc.The mousepad worked fine before I updated to Windows 10.
so..i had w7, and today i found that w10 free update was available
downloaded it, installed it using express settings...it didn't do a clean install cause all my files are still there
w10 works fine, is fast, but for some reason i cant open the settings app
i try opening trough the start menu, and it opens and immediately closes i try opening the app trough the new action center all settings ..and the same..it opens and immediately closes also, when i right click on the wallpaper and click on the personalize item it also opens the settings app, immediately closes and a window pops up saying: THIS FILE DOES NOT HAVE A PROGRAM ASSOCIATED WITH IT.
since i had w7, now in w10 i have to register my MS account, but i cant because i cant get the settings app to open
I recently switched over to Windows 10 and the first issue I had was my graphics driver becoming non compatible, but this was fixed when I flashed my BIOS for my computer to the most recent release.
Everything went smooth for a few weeks, but now I can't connect to the internet due to a common problem with Windows 10.
I want to go back to 8.1, but wanted to make sure my current BIOS wasn't going to crash on me ...
I would like to add pages to my favorite bar over time, and have them be at the top of the order so they are visible. I don't want to have to go to the star drop down and find them.
I just got a new Dell computer with Win10. when I minimize a page an icon appears at the bottom of the screen in the taskbar (?) and a thumbnail picture appears at the right side of the screen. I don't want the thumbnails and I haven't found a way to stop them with out stopping all thumbnails. I just don't want minimized pages to show up on my desktop.
My old printer printed the LAST page of a document first - so that when you got the document from the out tray it was in the correct order. I have just got an Epson 2550 and it's printing the first page first so I need to reorder every document. I did their online chat and they said I needed to change settings in powerpoint/word etc - but I can't find anything.
I migrated from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I then found that I had access to 3 web browsers - Edge, Chrome and IE 11.
However, whilst I could access web pages from Edge, I could not access those same pages [in fact ANY pages at all] from Chrome or IE. I just got messages saying the pages were not accessible. My immediate suspicion was some sort of firewall problem, so I turned off the firewall, but the problem persisted. I re-installed Chrome, but that made no difference either. I rebooted the PC, but the problem was still there. I also noted that my VOIP phone application was unable to reach the Web.
It seems very odd that one application [Edge] seems to have full Web access, while three others have none at all. I cannot think of any setting that would deny access to some apps, but not others. I did check the firewall setting for Chrome, and it said it was giving the application full access.
What might be causing this selective denial of Internet access. Does Edge monopolise the access and somehow exclude the others?!
