Drivers/Hardware :: Windows Media Player - No Video Only Sound

Running on Lenovo Yoga 500. Windows Media Player will not play video but play sound (audio) only.
Same issue with Windows Movie Maker, no video only sound.
Windows 10 PRO.
AutoPlay isn't working in Windows 10.
The SETTINGS|DEVICES menu has it turned ON.
In Control Panel, it's turned on and configured to PLAY a CD.
It's not disabled in the Group Policy editor.
Neither of the two optical drives (a CD and DVD) will auto play either file type in Windows Media Player or MPC.
An MS level I tech made this statement:
"For this issue you can download Windows DVD Player available in the Store. Since WMP and MPC can no longer support CD / DVD autoplay."
While I understand that there's no native DVD player in Win 10, it strikes me that auto play should function nonetheless - using the default CD or DVD app. Or is the Windows tech correct?
After downloading Windows 10, I prepared a playlist of music. Every blank CD that I insert gets kicked back saying "please insert blank disk". I managed to get a CD in, and it said "burn complete" but there was no music files on the disk. Is there a patch or driver to update Windows Media Player. I am trying to avoid spending the money on Nero.
View 1 Replieswhy windows media player 12 wont play YouTube video's, it plays the audio side but not the video of it..I had windows media player 11 in before the windows 10 update and now media player wont play the videos only audio.
View 2 RepliesIt seems my media player is corrupted since a previous update. It will not play videos without looking like Dr Timothy Leary made them. Is there a place I can download Media Player 12? I went to the Windows download pages but it never has a trigger to download even though its entitled Window Media Player 12 Download, it just brags how great it is.
View 6 RepliesAm trying to re-install iCloud on a 32 bit machine and keep getting the error message that I am missing media features and to download them. I have downloaded the Media Feature Pack for N and KN versions of Windows 10 and installed, but no luck.
Have tried the "Turn windows features on and off" trick to see if WMP was unticked and do not have any Media Features options at all.
Computer seems to have wmp in C:Program Files (x86)Windows Media Player, but cannot run it as it is saying that it is not properly installed and needs to be reinstalled. Clicking on the link takes me here:

I just noticed in the Task Manager a while ago that "Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework Host Process" under "Background Processes" was running at about 50% of CPU constantly. I did some research and found out that this only seems to happen when Windows Media Player is running. It seems to happen even when Windows Media Player is not doing anything, when it's not even scanning for new media. When I close Windows Media Player, the "Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework Host Process" CPU usage drops immediately to 0%.

Win 10 - DVD Player, Windows Media Player not compatible with Win 10? This is a shock!! I downloaded the Windows Media Player from the Store and it played the DVD once. When it did not work a second time, I spent 45 mins waiting for Microsoft support and an hour on the phone. They confirmed that the Windows Media Player is not compatible with Win 10. I got my money back but no one could give me a Media Player that is compatible with Win 10.
View 9 RepliesTried, Play > Lyrics, captions, and subtitles > On if available. No luck.
Also tried installing DirectVobSub codec. Still no luck
Since updating my Hewlett Packard 700-060envy desktop my HP DH16AC-SHR player will not play any video content. It displays text material OK, just NO video content. The device worked fine until installing WIN10 update 1511-10586.71.
View 3 RepliesJust out of curiousity, do you prefer using Groove Music or WMP for playing music files? I have hardly used Groove Music except for certain file types. WMP is still good as ever Is Microsoft going to provide future updates for it?
View 8 RepliesOK, so once again, Windows Media Player will not play certain filetypes, specifically .flv files, despite the fact that it recently would play them.
I have the k-lite codec pack
Any solution other than "Uninstall Windows 10"?
what setting or whatever I need so when I copy CD's, ALL the tracks will copy to my computer? Sometimes I am getting a message that a track wouldn't copy.
View 1 RepliesI have performed a clean install of Windows 10 Pro onto a new HDD I put into my desktop PC, with all my media still on a separate 1TB HDD D: drive.
I've subsequently organised the shared folders on my D: drive into the appropriate media library's in Windows Media Player, however, when I view the media library on my PlayStation 3, the D: drive folders aren't displayed.
Now when I view the various library's in Windows Media Player, all the D: folders are shown as "unresponsive". I've tried removing and re-adding the folders and re-building the library, but that didn't work. If I add a folder on the C: drive, no problem, but any folder I add from the D: drive shows as unresponsive.
I did some Google searching, and made sure they were being indexed, which they weren't, however, when clicking "modify" and "show all locations", D: doesn't show up as an available drive to index.
After migrating to Windows 10 (less than an hour ago) I find that all my lovingly created playlists have disappeared now I'm on Media Player 12.
Is there some way of importing them, presuming I can find them on my system?
Is there a way to disable Windows Media Player's new native FLAC support, so I can use external codecs such as LAV filters with it again, as well as 3rd party metadata plugins like WMP Plus?
When using the native FLAC support, basic metadata tags for flac files are not added to the library, such as the Year & Contributing Artist field - whereas WMP Plus imported those over without any problem... However they now refuse to work with WMP as it detects that WMP now supports it, so how can i turn that support off? I've disabled Windows Media Foundation but that's not made any difference for FLAC files, it's still playing those natively.
I have Windows 10, until a couple of days ago, no complaints, but now mysteriously not one single media player will play. I have Windows Media player, Groove, ITunes, Real Player, Quicktimes. I open, choose a song, click play, nothing. Ever. Eventually it stops responding. I can close the player, but nothing will play. The same issue in my browsers. NO players at all.
View 11 RepliesAfter upgrading to Windows 10, Windows Media Player no longer will play .mp4 or .wmv videos. They played fine in Windows 7, but now, when I try to play a video in WMP, I get an error message saying that WMP is unable to play the file. I am using the latest Shark007 codecs which say are fully tested and supported for Windows 10. Is there a newer version of WMP for Windows 10, or is there something else I need to do?
View 8 RepliesTrying to play a movie off of my E: drive and it plays with good audio and video for about 3 seconds. Then it starts acting like it's buffering from the internet and pausing for several seconds before playing again...ultimately crashing the program with an error message telling me to contact the maker of my Xbox for support. This is a PC I built without scavenging XBoxes or any other video game consoles, even the dust that ended up in the case is original. Why the hell does it think I need to contact Xbox.com in order to solve this problem? Further more, this movie has been on my hard drive for years and hasn't had problems playing until Windows 10.
The exact text of the error is here:
Can't play.
Please try again. If the problem continues, visit Xbox.com to check for guidance.

Recently I am notice Media Player is crashing while Groove cannot even find a single media file out of 100GB music. Audacious stupid Groove asks: "My dear please tell me where to search for your lovely music files?", but then turns over and goes to sleep. Very disappointing. Now I cannot play any music neither by Media Player nor Groove.
View 1 RepliesI upgraded my media PC to Windows 10 over the weekend. I had been running Windows 7 using the media centre but I'd tested Team MediaPortal before upgrading so figured it would be ok. Turns out it has been for the most part, but there are two very frustrating things happening. The NVidia display driver keeps stopping responding and restarting. The computer hangs when playing a movie purchased from the Store in the Films and TV app.
I have tinkered with the settings after some searching but it keeps happening. I remember hearing something about how NVidia drivers don't work on Windows 10 but the version that people were saying to install is the version I have installed.
I thought it might be a PC issue as the hardware is a few years old now, but I can watch live TV fine. I have had the display driver crash when I was playing other full screen video (streaming, from a website) too.
There may be something simple I'm overlooking here, but recently I've noticed that audio on my computer (music, videos, games) every so often plays a glitchy sound, and the video and music lag for the same time period. It's an occurrence that happens fairly frequently but not predictably (i.e. there is no pattern to it at all). It's as if the audio "stutters".
It's not the fact that I'm running a lot of power-hungry programs (happens when, for example, five programs are running or only one); it makes no difference where the programs are stored (i.e. SSD or HDD) and, for that matter, I don't believe it's hardware-related at all as this does not happen on my parallel Xubuntu install; it's not due to lack of disk space nor running background processes.
It's not hugely detrimental to my work but it is becoming a mild-to-moderate annoyance whenever I do anything multimedia-related.
Note: It may also be related (but is a different set of symptoms) that when playing MS Solitaire Collection for long periods of time, the game will begin to freeze altogether for short periods of time, this time periodically and predictably and longer than any other game. "Long periods of time" is anything over about ten-fifteen minutes, and the freezing gets worse the longer I play.
I installed windows 10 on my laptop using the media tool. All went fine except i have no sound.
View 7 RepliesYesterday updated to 10586 my L930 and, as before, the Windows Camera App doesnt record audio on video shooting. I know my phone is affected by the L930 speakerphone mic problem, but until previous version of Windows Camera, audio was recorded at least in the other channels. No surround settings to manage in 10581/6. But after the last two updates, WinCamera is not recording audio. Cortana Works ok. And I cant install Lumia Camera, because it is just showing a "move to Windows Camera" message. The thing is, I already reported this through Insider Comments, but, I need to film video with audio urgently.
View 1 RepliesSince installing Windows 10 my video picture is upside down and there is no sound. I can see the other party correctly but neither of us can hear. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Windows 10. Windows Media Player works ok. Skype Echo 123 doesn't work.
View 2 RepliesSince updating to Windows 10 I have lost my media player, how can I get it back?
